Shelby took in a deep breath as she walked through the park. She was dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a fitted top. It wasn't anything fancy but she doubted she'd run into anyone she needed to impress here. Her long hair was pulled into a loose braid that fell down her back. Shorter ends had fallen from it but instead of messy it almost looked as if it was intended to be that way.
Tomorrow was prom and while she had been able to secure a date last minute, she'd purchased her dress more than a month ago and had even made hair and makeup appointments in advance. She'd done all this before she had a date because she'd been very confident that she'd be asked. She was actually a little annoyed that she'd had to ask someone who was old enough instead of the other way around, but she was going and that was all that matter.
Everything for prom was all settled. There was another issue that weighed on her mind and that was Roxy and Sawyer's locker room haunting. In the past when people had pranked the cheerleaders, Aly had always taken charge of the revenge. But Aly's step-sister hadn't been involved and also the pranksters were freshmen this time. This was on Shelby. It was almost like a test. Could she possibly compare to Aly? No. The answer was a big fat no and that was what was troubling Shelby.
She sat down on a bench at random to think. Aly was the girl who'd successfully gotten the principal's car on the roof and got her step-sister blamed for it! There was no way that Shelby could pull that off. She kind of just wanted to throw slushies in the girls' faces but she knew that that sort of prank was too juvenile. Whatever she did had to be smart.
She knew that totally cute but apparently real big jerk Jasper guy had helped Aly but Shelby didn't know anyone like that. And she couldn't go to Jasper because Aly hated him now. Shelby obviously didn't know what happened, but Aly wouldn't talk about it. But who else had the brains to pull something like that off? Shelby didn't know but whoever it was, she was going to have to find them. She had to pull something off and she had to do it soon or her reputation would be a stake.
Still sitting on the bench she let out a sigh and pushed some gravel from the pathway around with the tip of her sandal. This was going to be hard.
