Lily's honey blonde hair was pulled back into a low ponytail and she was dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a fitting T-shirt. After the tank top incident, Lily had been extra careful to dress more conservatively. The last thing she wanted to do was upset Haden. Only, he had sort of upset her.
She'd learned the previous night while chatting online with her classmates that he'd taken another girl...one of the new girls...out for pizza. Okay, it was just pizza...no big deal. Lily just wished that he had told her and she hadn't had to hear it from someone else. Not to mention she'd gone dress shopping last night and it had been a total fail. She'd have to go again tonight or she wouldn't have anything to wear at all to the prom.
So things were stressful as she headed into her first period Health class. She took a seat in the back as usual and sat there sort of staring for a moment as the bell rang. Class began and soon the teacher had told them to get into pairs and just work on the questions in the back of the chapter...busy work.
People paired up quickly and per usual, Lily was left out of this. However, just as she was about to start the task on her own a familiar face walked into the class, late as usual. The teacher gave him a look, but didn't seem to be in the mood to reprimand him really. The school year was almost over and most of the teachers had been extra relaxed about things, just biding time till summer.
"Hey...Grayson, want to be my partner?" Lily asked, waving at him as he looked for a seat. There was an empty on next to her anyway. She smiled. While she hadn't talked to him much in person, they had chatted a bit online and they did have some classes together. He'd seemed really nice at least...

He had woken up late as per usual. That wasn't exactly surprising to Gray, or to his mom who had to drive him to school yet again. "I'm not even sure why I need to go. It's like...summer mom."
"It's not summer yet, Grayson. And I want you to keep a perfect attendance until school ends. Your dad and I don't want you skipping school anymore. You hear?"
"Oh so it's your dad and I now huh?" Gray teased. He saw his mother blush but she tried very hard to look unrelenting. And failing. "You shut up about that and don't even try to change the subject!" she laughed, punching Gray in the arm.
"Aauuu." Gray wailed before chuckling. "Come on mom, you can tell me. I'm your son...you and dad are getting closer..." he nudged his mom who laughed again with the blush deepening. "None of your business now get out of the car." She pushed Gray who was just opening the door so he stumbled out with a laugh. "Mom! You shouldn't abuse your kids in front of an educational institution!" He could even say it with a straight face. So he didn't as he got up to close the door, waving to his mother who pelted off.
Gray sauntered into school without a care in the world and strolled in his class, waving at his teacher who didn't say a word about his tardiness. He turned to see Lily Spencer waving at him and he nodded at her. They hadn't spoken much before but an online chat got them [or rather just him] to realise they actually had class together. He walked to her and plopped into the chair beside her.
"Sooo...what are we dissecting today?" He asked, not even sure they were actually in a science class.

Lily's facial expression turned to confused as he asked about dissection. Was he joking or.... "Oh, this is Health," she said remembering that he wasn't aware of what his classes were. Lily wasn't the best of students either...in fact she was a terrible student because she spent more time snowboarding than doing homework and she didn't care to study one bit...but she at least knew her classes.
"We're supposed to work in pairs and answer these questions and turn them in at the end of class because she doesn't want to teach," Lily informed him about their teacher. "It's really boring...I haven't started," she admitted. She had half a mind not to do it at all, but Lily did usually complete her classwork, but Gray wasn't the type to do that. And while Lily didn't like Gray they way she liked Haden she was pretty sure she wanted to be his friend so kind of wanted to impress him with her attitude toward school work. Plus, she was passing all of her classes now so she could probably slack off a bit.
Lily bit down on her lower lip as she wasn't sure what else to say. Honestly, she really wanted to grill the kid about Haden and why he didn't like her boyfriend. Well...was Haden her boyfriend? He'd acted like they were exclusive but then he'd taken that other girl out for pizza and not said anything about it...and she hadn't seemed to know about Lily at all. So maybe he wasn't her boyfriend.... But why didn't he like Haden? What had Haden done to him???
Lily let out a sigh and shut her book. "This sucks. I just want school to be over," she said.

Blinking at Lily's correction of the class, Gray chuckled at his mistake. "Right. I knew that." He grinned before sticking a pencil behind his ear and leaning back on his chair. Her explanation about what they were supposed to do made him groan. "I hate words." He mumbled before pitching forward in his chair to look through the questions.
"Yick. Okay tell you what. You do half of it, I'll approve it and then we'll hand it over by the end of class." He grinned charmingly at the fellow Gould sophomore. "Ditto," he sighed and leaned back in his chair again when she mentioned the situation they were in. "Just wanna get high and get my guitar on." He started to play air guitar to Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer.
A few minutes went by and he was finishing the last bits of his air guitar playing, his face screwed up with his tongue sticking out, banging his head back and forth. He looked totally ridiculous. "How was that?" he asked, unaware of her troubled mind.

"What? No! I'm not doing it if your not," Lily said about the assignment. Maybe he thought she was some school nerd just because she was quite and showed up for classes when she was in school, but Lily was anything but. She probably slacked in her schoolwork just as much as he did, the only difference was she was at least present. "Whatever, we'll just run out as soon as the bell rings and I bet she won't even notice...its just busy work," Lily said, her apparent discard for school showing. After all she really wasn't trying to be rebellious or anything like that, she just hated schoolwork.
She watched as he played air guitar, sort impressed by his ability to go on so long. "Um...good?" she said although she wasn't completely sure. Her mind of course was still elsewhere. Still focused on the boy who seemed to have consumed her. "Hey...I um....I know we don't know one another that well...but can I ask you something?" she blurted, forcing the words out of her mouth even though normally she'd just keep them all to herself and not say a thing. But it was almost as if it was so important that she couldn't just keep quiet. And it wasn't as if she could say anything to Haden because well...she knew what his reaction would be. He'd probably just tell her she was being silly for listening to other people, especially what they said online.
"You um...said some stuff about Haden Kiley....I just....see he's my...well, I think at least...I think he's my...well, we've been dating a bit and obviously I'm going to the prom with him, but he sort of took that new girl out...and well, didn't say anything...and then you said you didn't like him...and I was sort of just wondering...." she trailed off, having trouble spitting it all out, especially the part about Haden being her boyfriend. After all, he'd never oficially asked her to be his girlfriend, he'd just sort of insinuated it and Lily was confused. She didn't want to ask Haden since he'd seemed so hurt when she thought he'd even ask someone else to prom...he acted like they were together. But if they were together, wouldn't he mention that he'd gotten another girl pizza? It wasn't a huge deal...it was just that keeping it a secret seemed to make it a bigger deal than it should be.
Lily bit down on her lower lip, her mind certainly still troubled. Grayson probably thought she was a headcase and maybe she was. It was just that Haden drove her crazy. It was feelings that she'd never really felt before.

Gray's eyes popped open when he was suddenly assaulted with loud noises coming from the tiny girl. Of course, Lily was talking in a normal tone but in his state, a pin drop was like an elephant stampede. He settled back down in his chair and nodded lazily. "Aight. Whatever." He shrugged, really not caring what happened. He thought as long as he passed his exams, he was golden. And he never failed, surprisingly so he really was golden.
He grinned and nodded at her lacklustre compliment. "You should see me on a real guitar. It's totally sick." He went on nodding like a bob-head toy he always saw in cars. Doing, doing, doing...that was what the toy did with its' head. Always nodding. Doing, doing, doing... He snapped out of his daydream about having his own Grayson bob-head toy and selling billions of it head banging to his miniature guitar when the blonde asked him if she could ask him something. "Yeah...you already did but yeah..."
As she went through her question for him, Gray started to chuckle. "Look, I really just don't like jocks in general. And Haden's a complete douche. He's like...he thinks he's all that just cause he's rich and popular and he's a jock. And what that pizza chick said confirms it. I mean I don't know about you but if I was dating a chick, I wouldn't get with another chick for pizza you know?"
Gray looked at Lily biting her lower lip and he frowned slightly. "You really shouldn't waste your time with a guy like him. He deserves someone who acts exactly like him and I know you're not a jerk."
