Otep was walking her two little dogs along the beach that morning wearing a pair of black and green swimming trunks, a black tank top and a lime green bikini. Yes. Otep was wearing a bikini. She wore black flip flops on her feet and had her dogs on leashes. She took out her phone out and texted Jem. **Hey baby... you alive??**
Jemima was lying on her bed. She was more or less on house arrest. That's how she viewed it anyway. She heard her phone vibrating on the nightstand and she rached over grabbing it. Reading the text from Otep. **If beng on lockdown and house arrest is being alive, then yeah I guess I am**
Otep read the message and frowned a little. House arrest. That means she couldn't see her. Right?? Not unless she had a reason to. **Are your parents home??** that must make it hell for her if they were. They were probably yelling at her constantly for skipping.
**At least one of them is. I think they're afraid if they both leave I'll sneak out or something** It was insane. They were flipping out over nothing. Sure, she had gotten an earful the night before and that morning. She was being irresponsable by skipping and by not returning her mother's phone calls, and they were worried she was hanging out with the "wrong" people and they were being a "negitative" influence on her.
Otep huffed a little scratching her head as she walked up to the apartment. She wondered how she could get around that. Then she remembered. 'HER BAG!' She'd forgotten her bag from the store in her car yesterday. She could... return it?? Hmm... She hopped on her motorcycle and just took off. She got to the house and parked the bike in front of it, getting off and putting her helmet on her seat. She went up to the house and knocked on the door hoping whichever one of her parents that were home didn't answer it.
Jemima's mother was the one who was home, and also happened to be the one to come to the door. She opened it and her jaw nearly dropped. Who was this person at her door, and why was this person at her door? She didn't really know Otep. She had never had a real formal introducation. More or less seen her in passing or at a distance. She stood there a slightly worried look on her face. "May I help you?"
Otep gave a confident smile to Jem's mom. "Good morning, ma'am. I'm Otep... I uh.." she stopped and looked down at the bag. "I was bringing Jem something from the store that... I bought her. Thought she'd like it... could I... talk to her?" she asked her. So she figured it would not be a good idea if she told her that the bag was Jem's from yesterday. Duh that would get Jem even more in trouble. Otep wasn't exactly one parents would peg as a good girl on sight. She was tattooed and sort of rough.
Gina raised a brow. Something she had bought her? Some thug looking girl was standing on her door step, saying she had bought something for her daugther. If that didn't send up some kind of red flag not much would. "I'm sorry, but Jemima isn't allowed visitors right now. You can leave that here...and I'll see that she gets it." but first she might want to take a look inside and see just what it was and may be Jemima would get it, may be she wouldn't.
Otep lifted a brow and nodded. "Ok. Uhm... can you just let her know that I stopped by then??" she asked her politely.
Gina nodded in a polite manner as well. But she was nto sure she was going to tell her dauther this...person had stopped by. This was just the sort of people she was afraid her daughter was goign to mixed up when they lived in New York. She had hoped that she would make a new group of friends when they moved here. She was worried about her daughter. Very worried. "Yes, of course."
Otep just sort of nodded. She wasn't so sure her mother would do that. She felt for her phone as if it vibrated. "Sorry... my mom's texting me." she lied through her teeth before texting Jem. **Babe.. downstairs...** she texted Jem real quick. She was procrastinating slightly from giving her mom the bag.
Jemima sat up on her bed. She was downstairs? Shit? **Stall...** she sent back as she practically ran from her room. Coming downstairs..but down the stairs that led to the kitchen and nto the front room. Texting Otep again. **Get in garage..door open. Head up back stairs..you know my room. Right? I'll..distract my mom** But how was she going to distract her? Gina was ready to shut the door by then. She waited a moment and then did just that.
Otep sort of... uhm... her mouth dropped a little. Rude?? Damn. She still even had the bag in her hands. "O...k..." she sort of said to herself. "Catcha later." she huffed a little and then grinned to herself as she read the text. She went through the garage door and up the stairs silently to Jem's room and waited for her.
Jemima popped out of the kitchen with a bottle of water and a bowl of fruit. "Hey..mom. Just getting a snack. That's approved right? Or..do I have to wait for my bread and water to be delivered to me?" Gine stared at her daugther a moment. "No..no..you know we wouldn't take food away from you. We are not that horrible." she sighed. Not letting on that some one had been at the door. Jemima nodded. "Ok..then. Well..I'll just go back to my cell then." she mumbled and headed back up the stairs to her room.
Otep waited patiently from Jem's room. She remembered she'd parked near Jem's house but she wasn't sure if her mom would notice her bright green Ninja sitting outside. *oops* she thought. She shrugged a little. She'd closed the door on her she doubted she wanted to look and see if she was still even there.
Jem climbed back up the stairs and down the hall to her room. She walked in, shutting the door behind her and locking it. It was habit for her to lock the door behind her whenever she came into her room.
Otep smiled at Jem. "Hey, criminal" She whispered happily.
Jem smiled over at her. Sitting the fruit bowl down and she jumped onto the bed. Feeling a bit better now that Otep was here. "Hey you...you know we would both be dead if my catches you in here." she laughed. "GAH..when did my parents become such..parents?"
Otep smiled at her and pulled her into her lap. "I know... a risk I am willing to take." she smiled as she hugged her tightly.
She did not put any resistance to that. She could use that embrace right now. "I think..she's really starting to get suspicious. But..I'm not ready to admit anything to them yet. If I do..I know they'll do everything in their power to keep us apart. She wants to already. I know that."
Otep caressed her cheek gently. "I know and I really don't want to sacrifice that." she said gently. Now that she had her back she didnt want to be apart. Especisally when her parents are the ones keeping them apart. She looked into her eyes.
Jemima sighed and laid back on the bed, her head on Otep's lap. "This is getting so complicated. There was a time..when I would have probably loved how complicated it all was. I would have loved to just mess with my parents head. Because I would not have cared what the outcome would have been with the relationship. This time..I do care."
Otep played with Jem's hair absent mindedly and sort of nodded to herself. "Yeah... me too." she said gently. Especially after she'd managed to mess it up to begin with. She couldn't handle not having her. "It's like... Romeo and Juliet... You're my Juliet." she smiled a little. Even though it was sort of a bad thing. "Except this wont end at all - death or otherwise." she smirked a little.
"I'm Juliet? I guess that's not too bad." she smiled a little. "So, I guess we keep things..like they were for now? A secret." How it stayed one this long was beyond her. They were pretty open in public. Everyone else probably knew, hwo her parents didn't was a mystery. "I can't..believe they don't know. You know..may be they do. They just don't want to confront it."
"Maybe they are waiting for you to tell them. Reverse psychology." Otep told her gently as she ran her fingers through Jem's hair. "They know but they want you to say something." she said with a shrug. "But I sort of don't want to chance that." she said.
"Me neither." This was one of those no win situations. The being stuck between a rock and a hard place. She took one of Otep's hands in hers. "How did you tell your mom?" she asked idly. It was something she had never really asked her before, and Otep had never really revealed. It was just something that always seemed to be known by everyone who knew her. That she was into girls.
Otep shrugged. "It sort of just happened. Like.. my ex a while back used to come over all the time... we used to be inseperable... then my mom just sort of asked me." she said. "She was cool with it." she said shrugging. "She sort of blamed it on my dad but... she was cool with it." she said with a slight laugh. "Then we moved here and my ex moved to like... Vegas... and it all sort of went to hell." she said laughing a little. She knew it was nothing to laugh at but she had moved on since her ex. She missed her, yeah, but... she loved Jem more than anything. And it was something she had gotten passed since she met her. Jem and Otep were the poster couple for opposites attract and they were beautiful together. The things they did together... the places they went. The things Jem could talk Otep into doing without trying too hard. Otep was like putty in Jem's hand and she knew it. Her ex didn't have it like that... Otep was her own person... her ex never pushed anything and never made her do anything she didn't want to. Jem was a challenge to her. Plus... Otep never cheated on Jem...
"At least she was cool with it. My mom isn't going to be cool with it. I was close to my friend back in New York..we weren't "dating" or anything, but she was my first girl kiss. I think she got worried then. That's why she wanted to move away, and when my dad got the opportunity take the job here, she was all for it. I know..it's the last place someone should move when t hey're worried about their child's choice of partners...but I think she had this notion..I'd make..new friends..who'd have a more.."positive" influence."
Otep smiled a little. "Yeah I'm sure your mom was thrilled when I showed up at the door. I look like a bum on wheels today." she laughed a little. "I mean... no one really expects me to act the way I do with the way I look but... I'm used to it. I'm the book being judged by its cover... nothing new." she said gently.
"I never would have thought my parents would turn out to be so judgemental." she frowned. "Did they change? Or did I just grow up to realize that they were always that way?" she shook her head a little.
Otep looked at her. "Well...I guess if they moved on the basis of your choice of... friends... then I'd say they were always that way. But I don't know them... so I wouldn't be able to tell you." she said gently.
"No, I think I was being naive." she sighed again. " Thinking that may be..they really weren't that judgemental. This move really was more about my dad and not me." This was turning out a bit depressing. To think her parents moved because of her. Like they were ashamed of her or something.
"Baby..." Otep whispered quietly. She hated Jem feeling down. And now that she was trapped inside she hated it even more. It was so much easier to be depressed when you were stuck inside. She moved Jem carefully and laid down next to her, facing her. She laid her hand gently on Jem's side. "Nothing is your fault... you are perfect. Your parents... have their own theories but... I know in my heart that you are the definition of perfect." she told her.
"I'm not trying to be all..whoa is me and throw myself a pity party. That's not who I am. But I would like to be myself with my parents and know that even if they don't approve of it, they could still accept me for it." she shrugged. "Anyway..let's talk abotu something else."
Otep thought a moment. "Maybe... maybe you should tell them." she said thinking for a moment. "Like I said... I don't know your parents from a hole in the wall but I do know that... from yesterday's experience... if they find out on their own they might be slightly less ready to accept it." she said to her. Then she suggested a subject change and smiled a little. "Ok."
She wanted to be the one to tell them. She just had to be ready for it, and she wasn't ready for it. That was probably one of the things that truly terrified her. "I will.." she said softly. "So, what do we talk about?"
"How beautiful you look today." Otep smiled at her.
"OH please...I still have pajama's on." she laughed. "But thank you."
Otep grinned at her. "Yeah that's a slight let down but... you look beautiful nonetheless." she smiled as she joked with her.
"Let down?" she stared at her. "What would ahve preferred I be wearing more clothing?"
"Less." Otep whispered with a wink and then smiled as she poked her side.
Jemima smacked her hand and laughed. "I should have figured. You are such a guy sometimes." she rolled her eyes. "The one track mind."
Otep laughed a little. "Oh you love it." she laughed. "You know you do." she smiled at her as she brushed a stray strand of hair out of Jem's face, calming down slightly.
"Whatever." she laughed. She was glad she was here, that she come over. It was helping her let go of some of those feeling she had still been carrying around. "I'm glad you're here. I would have lost my mind today, if you hadn't come by."
Otep smiled at her. "I am glad I could assist with your mind keeping." she smiled as she looked into her girlfriend's eyes. She loved making her happy. No matter how much she neglected to show it sometimes... she was her world.
Jemima scooted a bit closer to her. Snuggling up next to Otep. A lot could be said for the person that made you feel...safe and like you could be yourself and not have to worry about what they might think. Jemima felt those things with Otep. Even after the.."incident" she still..felt..safe with her. More or less.
Otep pulled her into her as she cuddled closer with her. She felt so comfortable with her like they were meant to be. It was like... fate... brought them together. "Do you believe in Fate, baby?" she asked her curiously as her mind sort of leaked through her mouth.
Jem tilted her head up slightly so she could look up at Otep. Fate? Did she beleive in fate? "I guess...I do. I think there are times when things happen for a reason, or were just meant to be."
Otep smiled gently. "I am stopping myself before I go all mushy Otep on you." she laughed looking down at her.
"No..don't stop." she said softly. "Right now..I think I would like to hear from the mushy Otep."
Otep smiled gently. "Well... I think we are the product of fate." she told her truthfully. "I think we were meant to be together. FATE made us move here. FATE made me and my ex beak up. FATE made your parents move you from New York all the way across the country to here... where we just so happened to... meet." she smiled a little. She traced her finger along Jem's arm gently. "and it was FATE that... completed our journies to each other." she smiled. "There.. mushy Otep has come out..." she laughed gently. "Now that I am thoroughly turning red."

Jemima listened with great interest in what Otep was going to say. What she had to say about them and about fate. Jemima liked to pick on her sometimes for being so mushy, but on the other hand she also loved those moments when Otep was so "mushy" or sentimental or a hopeless romantic. She liked to hear her talk about those things. May be the artist in Otep that made the things she said come out with a different passion then if someone else had said the exact same thing. It just seemed to have a whole new meaning when Otep said it. It enraptured Jemima's imagination. She could see it all being true. Fate brought them to this time and to this place. It was meant to be. May be that was silly and naive.
Jem just watched her face, staring into her emerald green eyes as she talked about how fate had brought them both to L.A. and how fate had brought them together. It seemed so real , so believable. How two people who were so opposite of one another could be so much a part of one another, had to be nothing sort of fate.
"Fate did all of that huh?" she asked softly leaning in a bit closer to Otep. "Wonder what else fate has in store for us?"
