Dakota probably had never felt more alone in her life, which was something to be said for a girl who had no family, very few true friends and no roof over her head, but it was true. After school had let out, she had gone back to the warehouse to kick back with her friends, only when she got there, snide, nasty remarks greeted her. She'd said fuck it, taken 10 bucks from the group bucket and left. She'd find somewhere else to crash for the night.
which is where she was now. Kota had headed down to the beach, and was sitting at a wooden table trying to do some of the homeworkd that was assigned, and eat some fries as well. She was trying to hold onto the tiny bit of cash she had left, and fries were better then nothing at least. The dark clouds overhead did not look good, and she figured if needed, she could curl up under the pier for the night if it started to actually rain.
The pregnant teen sighed, resting her head in her hand as she read through another couple of pages.

It was a weeknight and she was supposed to be at home but Lexi just wanted to get away from the house for a bit. Pip was being extra mean and her parents were a bit too lovey dovey for her liking. Of course, having the option of going to the prom with Wynn kind of perked Lexi up a lot. But she still needed to get away from her family so the first place she went to was the pier.
Walking through the carnival, Lexi sneaked in a few snacks and played a few games before heading out to where she could over look the beach. She wasn't expecting to see anyone she knew but she did. It was the new girl whom Lexi had seen being freaked out by none other than Sloane Taylor. That girl really needed to keep her mittens to herself. And get a shot.
The new girl was looking through what looked to be a school book. Homework? Lexi could help with homework, couldn't she? Yes she could. And she'd been tutoring some less than fortunate souls when it came to school work. It would give her a new friend at least. Clearing her throat, she walked over the table and plopped in front of the brunette with a little smile.
"Hi, I'm Lexi. We go to school together." She offered a hand. "I saw you and thought I should introduce myself."

Kota was quickly losing interest int he text in front of her, but she still forced herself to keep reading. Who really cared what angle you had to bisect in order to get a perfect triangle..or whatever the hell she was reading. She took a fry every once in a while, dipped it in ketchup and popped it into her mouth, chewing slowly.
The wind kicked up a bit, prompting Kota to pull her jacket tighter around her slender frame. Her barely there concentration was broken when some girl flounced her ass at her table like she owned it. Dakota looked up, dark eyes regarding the girl carefully, waiting to see what she wanted.
The information surprised her a bit, she was actually introducing herself to her? No one had bothered to do so in the few short days that Dakota had been in classes, minus the pair that had helped her that lunch with the garbage vomit debacle. "Uhh..hi." She replied, wiping off her hand on her worn jeans and shaking it. "Dakota, and shocked really...no one at that school really seems to want to associate with me."

Kye really hadn't expected to see anyone he knew as he walked along the beach at night. It was his birthday and he was actually on his way to the pier with plans to meet up with Jude and Eddie for some rides and junk food. He wasn't so keen on Eddie being there just because of his crush on Jude...but he was a really nice guy...annoyingly so. Really, Kye was just walking on the sand because it seemed like it would be more fun than walking along the strand adjacent to it.
However, as he walked, he saw a familiar face: Lexie. Lexie was cool. Kye didn't know her terribly well, but they had Heath and French class together and they usually said hello to one another, sometimes talked about the homework, that sort of thing. So, while Lexie wasn't exactly a good friend or anything, Kye figured he might as well say hi, even though she seemed busy with some girl that he didn't know and had never seen before. Plus, he sort of had to go that way to make it up to the pier.
"Lexie," he said as he approached the girls, walking with his hands in the pockets of his hoodie. "And I thought I'd be the only one on the beach at night..." he said trailing off with a slight laugh although really he'd probably made a fool of himself. Kye wasn't so good in the self-esteem area. He often thought that he was making a fool of himself when he really wasn't, which was part of the reason he tended to be quiet. "So, what's up?" he asked, still feeling a bit awkward, so much so that he hadn't even bothered to introduce himself to the other girl.

The girl's hesitance in introducing herself made Lexi smile a bit. Lexi herself had never had a problem with introducing herself. She actually liked doing the whole "Hi, I'm so and so. Nice to meet you!" thing with new people. "Dakota...that's a really nice name. I have a mouthful when it comes to my name so I just let people call me Lexi. Or Dash. I'm on the swim team and I used to be on the track team. Hence the nickname." She shrugged and stopped talking for a bit.
Pondering on Dakota's words about people being basically unfriendly to her, Lexi frowned slightly. "I'm sure that's not true." She actually thought that was true. People in school can be jerks. And as they see a new girl in the midst, they'd probably be even more cruel. "But I'll tell you this about my fellow schoolmates...they're a bunch of jack holes at the best of times. As long as you ignore the likes of Jay Michaels and um...Quenten Ferris...I'm pretty sure you'll do right."
With the arrival of her actually nice classmate from French and Health, Kye, Lexi perked up slightly and waved him down, patting the seat beside her. They weren't exactly best buds but he seemed really nice whenever she did talk to him so she considered him a friend anyway. "Hey Kye! Not up to much. Let me introduce you to my new friend, Dakota. She's new in school!" Lexi scooted a little so Kye could sit.
"Dakota, this is my classmate Kye." Lexi introduced the two of them together. "This is a little weird, should the three of us meet here all at the same time." Lexi giggled, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
