Kenzie straightened his own tie with a smile on his face, the limo was out front but he was paying the driver for the night not by the hour so it didn't really matter to him how long the man waited for him in the car. Kenzie looked up as his mothers walked into the bedroom with smiles on their faces.
"You weren't supposed to be here until tomorrow." Kenzie said to them.
"This is our baby boys first prom, one that he can legally go to." his mother said to him Kenzie laughed at this and his mothers joined in. "Last year you got a date with the hotest girl in the year above you, I still don't know how you managed that." she told him.
"I may have brought her the dress she wore that night and got her brother tickets to see the Yankees." Kenzie said to her she laughed.
"You brought your way in to your first high school prom?" his mom asked.
"I tried it the year before, instead of getting in I spiked the punch with rum and Vodka." Kenzie told them they glared at him.
"I'm not sure I want this girl at my house now." his mother said. "You may bring your girlfriend to the ranch, though if like you said she doesn't like the outdoors. Why your insisting on bringing her is beyond me." his mother told him.
"Her brother is an ass and her father a general who still thinks he rules the world... not that he ever did but still... anyway this is her escape route for the summer, at least the first few weeks." Kenzie said to her she nodded. "Besides another girl around the house, I can think of the things you can embarrass me with by showing her photos of me as a baby." Kenzie said to them they shared looks. "Oh god now why did I have to open my big mouth." Kenzie added as he walked towards the door to his room.
"Don't be home to late." his mother said.
"Or your grand me in this beautiful home." he asked with a wicked grin on his face.
"Don't get to drunk then." she added he laughed.
"I am with the most gorgeous girl in school do you think I need to get drunk to have a good time. Not that I need them but I have the condoms in my wallet as well, not to mention a hotel on stand by just in case." Kenzie said to her.
"Caleb you had better not tweat that girl badly." his mom yelled as he left the house five minutes later, he gave the driver the paper with the address on it.
"Make a grand entrance would you, I would like people to know that the girl is going to the prom with her guy." Kenzie said to him. "I have a father to impress and the entrance is everything." he added.
Taking his phone out he text Lana, 'On way pick you up at your front door shortly... xxxx Kenzie.' he sent the text with a smile as he settled back into the seat of the limo and waited.

"I cannot believe that you are going to your first prom." Lana's mother said as she sat on her daughter's bed, watching the teen finish getting ready. "How long have you been seeing this boy anyway?" She asked. "2 months." Lana answered as she fixed a few strands of hair. She was nervous but at the same time, she couldn't wait. She had gone shopping weeks before for her dress and shoes. The blond looked nothing short of an ocean goddess in her floor sweeping gown. It had a beaded empire waist with a v-neckline, and tired ruffles in the skirt, ranging from a deep aqua to so pale blue it appeared white at her feet. She'd left her waist length blond hair loose with just a hint of curl to it. "You know your father is not happy about this right?" Mrs. Patterson stated. "I don't really care..I care about Kenzie, a lot, and there is nothing you guys can do to stop me, nor can you stop me from spending the summer with his family." Lana replied, fastening a simple gold necklace around her neck. "Lana..." "No..I have busted my butt all year, I've put up with Blake and Dad pissing in each other's cereals for months..I'm taking the summer to myself." The blond stated, reaching over to pick up her cell as it beeped at her. "he's on his way..." She grabbed her small matching clutch and gave herself one final look in the mirror before leaving her bedroom to head downstairs. by the time she got there, the General had let Kenzie in, and Lana gave him a bright smile as she descended the final few steps. "Let's go.." She told him, wanting to get out of there before her father started in, and Blake could join him. www.edressme.com/dwts-dress-15246.html

Kenzie nodded, "Sure thing, its probably a good idea we get out of here anyway. There is no point in keeping the driver waiting now is there." He said to her not bringing up his news in front of the family was probably a good idea. He planned on getting out of there in one piece, that might not happen if her brother got wind of what they had planned then it would kick off or so he was told. "I'll take good care of her tonight ma'am." he said with what he thought was a reassuring smile.
'And this summer.' he thought to himself as he lead Lana out of the house and back the way that he had come to the house.
They had reached the limo when Blake came tearing down the drive after them anger on his face, "What the hell do you think your doing with my sister you bastard." Blake screamed at him Kenzie raised an eye brow at this.
"Your sister is my date to the prom, now I know that you know we have been dating for a while so I think what you need is to go calm down." Kenzie said to the boy.
"She isn't going anywhere with you." the boy snarled as he let fly a punch at Kenzie who got out of the path of the fist just.
"Come on dude you don't want to do this in front of your parents and I don't want to make a bad impression by beating the crap out of you if you actually manage to hit me. That would no doubt anger your sister and I plan to have a good night at the prom with her." Kenzie said to him. "It is time we got going some of us have a date to go to." he said to the girl.

Lana was more then ready to leave the house, she could practically feel them all breathing down her back. She smiled as Kenzie promised her mother that he'd take care of her that night. There was something behind his eyes and in his smile that suggested that he might have news, something he couldn't say in front of her family. Something about the summer maybe? He took her hand and they walked out of the house and down toward the waiting limo.
Lana turned, hearing her brother start screaming at Kenzie, her heart dropping into her stomach. Not. Now. Wonderful! "Blake! Stop!" She yelped as her twin threw a punch at her boyfriend. Blake KNEW she was involved with Kenzie, she just hadn't talked much about it, knowing something like this was likely to happen.
"Blake....go inside." She snapped, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Please..go inside..don't make this any worse then you have..youdon't wanna get into a fight with him..trust me." Kenzie would wipe the floor with her brother.
"YOu're right." She said to Kenzie, looking at her brother. "It'd piss me off more then it already has, it'd ruin my night and then I'd have to seriously hurt you, and then I'd never forgive you." She stated softly, moving to take Kenzie's hand again. "Come on..we are going to be late for dinner.

Kenzie took her hand back and headed back to the car, they had gotten to the door when his arm was grabbed by the boy in question, Kenzie let go of Lana's hand before he turned to face Blake with what he hoped was just the right look of disdain.
"Dude let go of my arm." Kenzie snarled at his girlfriends brother, he could see said parents at the door way the old man looking on with a look on his face that Kenzie could not quite work out. Blake let go of his arm but didn't look like he was going to give up that easily.
"Your not going anywhere with this magot Lana so get your ass back inside." Blake snarled at his sister.
"Okay you know what I have taken all I am going to take of this, go do what ever it is that you do when you don't have a date for the prom and your sister does. Your not going to ruin her night for the sake of your own ego." Kenzie snarled at him Blake was stupid enough to throw a punch at Kenzie who was a little to slow in getting out of its way.
Wiping the blood from his mouth with the hanky in his suit pocket he put it away before looking at the boy again who was staring in shock that he had not knocked the boy down on his ass or better yet out for that matter.
"Now you just had to go and annoy the hell out of me." Kenzie said to him before landing a punch of his own sending the boy down on his ass Kenzie stared at the boy. "Do not do that again punk." Kenzie snarled taking his girlfriends hand and keeping on walking. "God damn it that hurt." Kenzie snapped rubbing the knuckles on his hand. "Lets go I'd rather not finish this evening in the jail." Kenzie said to her softly.
"I'm sorry if that causes you trouble at home... now lets go enjoy dinner because between this 'fight' and my stomach I could eat a cow right now." Kenzie said to her.

They had just barely made it to the car when Blake started up again. he'd grabbed Kenzie by the arm and turned him. She sighed dejectedly, knowing this was not going to go well..at all. She could see her parents watching from the doorwawy, she she shook her head. "Damnit Blake..stop!" She exclaimed.
"Don't tell me what to do!" She snapped back. "He's my boyfriend and I'll go anywhere I damn well like with him." She hissed, running her hands over her face and through her hair in irritation. She gasped sharply as Blake threw a solid punch at Kenzie, connecting with his mouth. "BLAKE!" She cried out, moving to Kenzie's side. The flaxen haired young woman could only step back and watch as her boyfriend socked her twin right in the stomach, sending him to the ground.
She shook her head, tears evident in her eyes. "Blake...don't get up...you deserved that." She told him, disappointment clear in her voice. Her first major dance, and he was trying to ruin things for her. "God, i cannot wait to get out of here for the summer." She said, looking at Kenzie.
She slid carefully into the backseat of the limo, leaning forward and getting some ice and a towel from the small mini bar. She wrapped it and took Kenzie's hand, icing them gently.
"Yeah, it's gonna cause major problems..I cannot believe Blake..I just.." She exhaled heavily, closing her eyes. "I can't believe you hit him..you're better then that.." A stray tear made its way down her cheek, and she stared out the window quietly. "Let's go."

Kenzie looked at her, "I'm sorry its going to cause you some trouble with your folks." Kenzie said honestly. "I may be better than that, but he should know now that if he tries to throw his weight around again I can take him on at his own game. I don't like getting physical with the family of the girl I date but that doesn't mean I will sit back and allow people to walk all over me." Kenzie said to her.
He hissed when his knuckles touched the iced towel, "I'll get that checked out later." Kenzie said to her. "No point in ruining a good night with a trip to the ER... I am not missing prom because of this." Kenzie said to her with a smile. "He didnt actually cause you any damage did he?" he asked fully prepared to tell the driver to turn around so he could finish what he started with the boy as he passed her his hanky. "Do not let your brother upset you, I shouldn't have hit him." Kenzie said to her as he sat back and closed his eyes. "My mothers are in town, they came for my prom I think. Either that or to see my brother and or convince my fathers to be a sperm donor so they can have a kid of their own. This might get a tad confusing in the next couple of years." Kenzie said to her.
"Anyway you don't have to stay here for the summer, my mothers have invited you to the house. I'm not sure what we are doing with the second half of the holiday yet so if you have any ideas or places you would like to go then speak up soon. We'll see what we can do to get there." he added.

Lana shook her head, the anger at her brother leaving as the car pulled away from the house and into the streets. "I know you are." She told him softly. "It's just..they won't do anything about him..I'm like the only person that Blake will listen to..and lately...he won't even do that. I used to be able to talk him out of his pissy fits..not anymore." It was obvious that Lana was upset about her brother's anger and violent temper.
She carefully applied the ice to his hand. "I don't think you broke anything, and even if you did, I'm not missing my prom because of it." She told him firmly. "I would make you wait till after to go..I dont care about what time I go home tonight. As far as I'm concerned, I won't be." She smiled slightly. "NO he didn't lay a hand on me, don't worry about that." If Blake had hurt her, Kenzie wouldnt't have been the only one that would have punched the other boy. She took the handkerchief from him, carefully wiping that one stray tear away. "Yeah?" She asked when he mentioned his moms were in town. However, when he told her that she was invited out to spend the summer with them, Lana squeaked happily.
She also moved and straddled Kenzie's lap as he sat back on the leather. She was not normally so aggressive but hearing that she didn't have to spend all summer with her family enboldened her. "You mean it?" She beamed, leaning down and kissing her guy deeply. "Oh my god I love you!" She blurted out, pulling back when she'd realized it a few seconds later. "Oh..oh god..I just..." She blushed bright red, looking away as she slowly slid off his lap.

Kenzie shook his head, "You know sometimes its easier to hide behind the pain of something than it is to admit that you have a problem. Your brother detests pretty much any one, if he thinks or believes that he can't go to his parents about something then maybe that is why. Or maybe it will take for him to hit rock bottom before he can work his life back into shape." Kenzie said with a shrug. "Maybe this is something that has to get worse before it gets better, your folks are probably waiting for him to do something that they can't ignore." Kenzie said to her.
"That and I know that your father was a powerful and influential man at one point, admitting that you have a son who can be deranged or what ever he is to the big wide world will be like admitting you have a cocaine habit or something similar." Kenzie said shrugging.
Kenzie looked at her with a shake of the head and a smile, "I think that my mothers are looking forward to meeting you more than they are to having me there for the summer." Kenzie said to her. "This summer you can forget about everything going on here, you need some relaxation and maybe some horse riding would do you some good. Maybe just some grooming of one, I'll take you to meet the one I have here if you like." Kenzie said to her. "An animal friend is sometimes just what the doctor ordered." Kenzie said to her with a grin .
"Oh and your be pleased to know that the restaurants were probably just as angry that I had cancelled my reservations to all but one of them." Kenzie said to her. "Some of what they said down the phone is not mentionable to a lady." Kenzie added smiling.
He slipped his arm around her shoulders, "Your far to far away for comfort." Kenzie said to her kissing her on the lips.

Lana nodded, in agreement with her boyfriend about her brother. "Blake..he's never really gotten over our brother's death.." She said softly. "They were so close..I was the odd one out with the 3 of us." She smiled fonly, remembering Cam. "He never let go of his grief the way I have..he's been in therapy for a qhile..but he just..he won't open up about anything, and holds in all that anger." She explained. "I don't know..I wish they would do more for them them they do, you know?" Lana exhaled, brushing a few loose strands of hair out of her face.
"Well of course they are." She teased. "To have another female in the house is always fun." She smiled. "I can't wait..I really cannot." The blond looked over at him. "I'd love to meet your horse here..can we go tomorrow?" She asked, giving him a smile, then a laugh as he commented on the reservations and the cancelations after she'd made her choice for dinner. "Oh I bet.." She grinned.
Lana was honestly surprised that Kenzie had not said anything to her blurted out admittance. She was sure he was going to freak out like guys do when their girlfriends admit they loved them, but instead, he pulled her closer, kissing her. She responded, her fingers slowly slipping along his jawling and around the back of his neck. She crefully moved back into his lap, taking care not to wrinkle her dress or his tux.
