Prom is here...Alex tag Ashley

When Alex first heard about prom she had no idea what kind of concept this was. In London she had attended a number of fancy balls and gala's, but apparently that was not what a prom was. A prom was a tradition for American high schools. So of course she said yes when Ashley asked. Ashley had also explained to her exactly what a prom was too.

Alex picked out a cute, short black dress, with some silver lace for the straps and around to body. To go along with it she wore black and sliver bracelets and silver heels. Her hair was up in a bun on the top of her head encircled in pearls, which were woven through her hair as well. Her aunt had even complimented her look and wished her luck. She would be gone for the night. Alex didn't really need to know, she didn't think Ashley and were would go there, but you never know.

She felt nervous for some reason. She just wanted to make this night special for Ashley. It was his prom. An argument could be made it was her prom as well, but Ashley was more familiar with the concept. She had to do a double check to make sure she had everything she needed and now all she needed was for Ashley to arrive.

Ashley watched as the limo pulled to a halt outside the house before turning to Kai and smiled bending down to look him in the eye.

"Okay mister you look after your nan and grandpa, they aren't getting ang younger you know." Ashley said as he pulled the boy into his arms kissing him on the cheek as he grave him a hug before pulling away and standing up. "We have plans to go to the after party at Gregs fathers pizza place, so don't wait up." Ashley said to his parents. "I'll be coming home alone anyway, I will hear if you have played up and you will be punished for it do you understand." Ashley said to him softly the boy nodded with a solemn look. "Good now good night." Ashley said before kissing his mothers cheek and heading out of the door.

Soon enough he was outside Alex's house with a smile on his face as he knocked on the door, he had been waiting all week to see his girlfriend in a dress and at the prom on his arm. This wouldn't be the first date to him though it was the most important date of their lives.

The door opened and he smiled, "Is Alex ready?" he asked.

Alex's Aunt smiled at Ashley, "Son you look charming." She said in her thick British accent. "Please come inside. Alexandra, Ashley is here." Her Aunt called. "I must get a few snap shots. I already told this to Alexandra, but if you need a place to sleep there is extra room. I wish you would have brought Kai he could have stayed too. Separate rooms for the both of you of course." She said smiling.

Alex came to the top of the stairs and smiled, "Auntie please leave the poor man alone. I am sure he got an ear full from his mother and father." She smiled as she walked down the stairs. "You clean up nicely." She said smiling as she walked over. "I even like this." She said playing with his bow tie a little. Alex's Aunt snapped a few pictures. "I must head out, have fun." Her Aunt called as she left.

Alex leaned up and kissed Ashley. A nice, sweet, passionate kiss. She was glad he invited her to this ball, or prom as it was called. "Shall we go?" She asked softly.

Ashley smiled at her, "Thank you its nice to see you again." Ashley said to the woman politely. "He would probably would have wanted to come with us, I know we won't be the only parents at this thing, but we will be the only ones with their son at the party." he said with a shake of the head. "I will bare that in mind for graduation next year though, so you may live to regret your suggestion." he explained.

Ashley laughed when she mentioned seperate rooms, "Oh you don't need to worry about that ma'am, we don't need more than one kid at this moment in time. I will be a complete gentleman for at least the next sixteen years. Maybe once Kai as left for college we will talk about it." he said with a wink at Alex.

When the woman had left he turned to Alex, "Okay I like her, so I think that means I like at least one of your family... and that makes at least one of your family like me. Hey we are on the up, your aunt first then your father next maybe." he said his eyes dancing merrily.

"Yes lets get out of here, no point in being the last to the party." Ashley said to her. "You want to phone my parents and make sure Kai is okay?" he asked her wondering whether she was worried about him tonight or not.

Alex's Aunt just gave the young couple a look, "This is a good man Alexandra." Then her Aunt left. Alex was in giggles at the end of it. "You can see why my father was never particularly fond of her." She told him. "I do agree though. No more children...yet. Kai would not be a happy little man." Alex said joking. That was the farthest thing from her mind. Well sure sex would be nice, but she was more focused on being a mother and a girlfriend.

"You have always been a charmer. Perhaps my father will see reason. One day." Alex said. "Stranger things have happened I am sure. Or so I hope." She added smirking. "Am i that obvious that I wanted to check on Kai before we left?" She asked in one of her meek voices. She looped her arm through Ashley's and held her hand out for his phone. She just smiled at him. "I am beginning to think you knowing me so well, might be a bad thing." She winked.

"I can make the call on the way. My Aunt got us a nice limo." She told him. "I figured you could use a night off from having to drive me." Alex dialed the familiar number as she followed Ashley out to the limo. "Hello Mrs. Bolton. It's Alex. I was calling to check on Kai. How is he?"

Ashley smiled at Alex, "After I brought him home from the hospital you had to pry me away from Kai with a wrench or something, let alone get me out of the house. My parents had to be quite brutal with me to get me to leave him in the end, I still have the scars from the fight... kitchen knives hot saucepans and bottles of milk at midday." Ashley said grinning merrily. "Its something you just do, no explanation needed for that one. I still don't like leaving him for the night with my parents. If I don't know he is okay it drives me nuts." he said. "That ball and chain is probably only going to get bigger as he gets older. I dread to think what he will be like when he is our age. Terrorising the geeks probably while showing the world for all to see that he hates his parents. Teenage angst here we come." he pointed out.

"Kissing in front of him will be a no no, it will be gross and never mention sex around him. Parents don't have sex remember not in their kids eyes. I'd be happy to think that my parents don't have sex any more its just a disturbing set of images to live with." he added.

When they were in the car he settled back and watched his girlfriend make her call, he knew that he would have been doing it if she hadn't been by the time he got to the prom. His mother would tell him of for it, while she would allow Alex this one time because she didn't know better or something like that.

"He is fine I hope?" he asked eyes twinkling as the phone call ended.

"I remember that in the beginning. I would try and breast feed him and you almost wouldn't hand him over. I think i had to bribe you a few times." Alex said laughing. That was before she was taken. before she thought her father was going to have the man she loved tossed into an American prison to rot for something that was bloody crazy. "Terrorizing geeks...is there something you would like to hell me about what you do in your spare time ..." Alex smiled. "As long as he is healthy and happy, i would not mind him growing up as that. Although would loving at least his mum be too much to ask." She smirked.

Alex just began to laugh at his next comment, "I am waiting for the girls have cooties stage." She joked, "That is what they are called here correct..cooties." She had heard it some where. "I don't even want to think about my parents behind closed doors. Ewww." She said.

Alex ended the call and pocketed her cell phone, "You mum says we are to enjoy the night and not phone her every few minutes or she will stop answering." Alex said. "It is just you and I for the rest of the evening."

Ashley smiled at her, "I don't bash geeks, I like to laugh occassionally when they start talking about science fiction as if it is a god or something. Now I like sci fi as much as any one in this car, but you must admit that it is not worthy of god hood or something similar like a saint hood from the pope." Ashley said to her grinning.

He nodded the idea of his little boy growing up at an alarming rate was not something that offered him a huge amount of comfort. If he could put the boy in an age freeze for five years then he would.

"That boy is going to give me grey hairs long before my time you know this right." Ashley said to her. "Now I may have blond hair but even I have to worry about grey hair eventually." he said to her. "I'm surprised I am not grey already, at times he has me wrapped around his little finger at times." Ashley explained.

Ashley snorted at the message from his mom and rolled his eyes, "I don't check up on him much... okay so maybe I do, but this is the first time in a while I have left him over night with someone other than you." Ashley said to her. "I'm cool with being left in the cold for tonight, I know that should anything happen they will get a message to us." Ashley said to her.

He looked out of the car hoping that they would get there soon he was hungry, all he hoped was that the food at the prom would be better than the food in the cafeteria that would be annoying if they didn't have better food.

"Here is to a good night." he said to Alex smiling.

"Grey hairs....you. i doubt anyone would notice. Your hair is so light." She commented touching his hair slightly. "If Kai is already set to give you grey hairs, I cannot begin to imagine what may happen if you have a daughter. Of course the will not be for a long time." She clarified. Who knew they that would be her. She would like to give him a cute daughter to go along with Kai, but not right now. Maybe in five or ten years. When they too were grown. "I will be sure to stay out of the way as Kai gives you bloody hell as he grows up." Alex laughed.

"Kai had my finger from the moment he was born. I remember he use to grab my finger while I fed him." She recalled a light gracing her face. "I truly missed so much, I am surprised he has accepted me back. He may be too young to know I left, but I have a feeling he knew." She said. "I pray one day I can be forgiven." She said softly as they entered the prom. "I do not deserve you at times." She said to Ashley giving him another kiss, one that conveyed her feelings for the man.

"Yes to a memorable night." She said her british accent coming out full force. she took a sip, "What in god's name is this?" She asked. "Its good but a bit sour. I was not expecting that." She finished it though, "Shall you show me if you have improved your dancing ability, or shall my feet prepare to be warned..."

Ashley smirked at this, "When and if I have a daughter she will not be dating until she turns to the age of thirty at the very least, not introduced to the concept of make up until after she has graduated. Lord help any boy who comes to the house." Ashley told her. "Their will be a chastity belt on her from puberty until the day she marries." he added. "Is that a little OTT?" he asked with a smile.

Ashley shook his head, "If he knows that you weren't there, he doesn't understand it. Any girlfriend I had while you were away never met him, had to get to know them before they were introduced. Most of the time you tell a girl you have a child and they run for the hills in the same way that most guys do." Ashley said to her. "You've already been forgiven for what happened, since a lot of what happened has been placed at the feet of your father." Ashley said to her.

He smiled into the kiss as he held her. He took a sip of the offending drink and made a face, "Probably someone has spiked the drink with alcohol I don't know of any drink that is that sour and is a fizzy drink." Ashley said to her with a shake of his head. "And I have improved a little since the last time you danced with me, I hope you brought the steal toe caps just in case though." he said to her. "Lets check everything out, I need a drink that doesn't taste that disgusting then maybe we can christen the dance floor or something." he said.
