He'd gone out into the quad with the bags he had brought for lunch that morning, he had thought about treating them to cafeteria food then thought better of it. He didn't think that the school food made for a good sit out lunch with one's girlfriend. Hell most days it barely made the edible list. He set the tupple wear down on the blanket, he had had to steal one from his brothers wardrobe. It wasn't like he would miss the thing, he had a couple dozen more than the one he had taken.
He glared at a couple of people who were looking to sit down next to where he had set up the blanket, it wasn't exactly mature but it was the best he could do on such short notice. He fished out his black berry to send a text to Lana with a smile on his face.
'Lana join me on the quad and bring water.' he wrote the text before sending it and sat back to wait for the girl in question. He had emailed his mothers that morning about Lana joining them for the summer but he hadn't heard back from said parents which was annoying to say the least.

Lana had curled herself into the library after her morning classes, figuring that she could work through lunch, leaving her afternoon and evening free to head out with Kenzie if he wanted to, not to mention she was going to be rather busy this weekend with Prom so there'd be no time for school work. She, like others, grew more excited the closer they got. Her dress was gorgeous, multi-layered, filmy and in shades of pale blues and white.
She was knee deep in her calculas book when her cell beeped softly. Picking it up, she read the message from her guy, immediately packing up her stuff and heading to the caf to get the water he had requested. She grabbed a pair of cold waters from the lunch line and headed out to the quad, looking around for her boyfriend. There..sitting on a blanket with a picnic set up. She felt her heart skip a beat and flutter in her chest. How sweet. She walked over, running the icy bottle along the back of his neck playfully. "So, what's the occasion?" She asked, taking a seat on the blanket. "But hi either way.." She grinned and kissed him softly.

He shivered when the bottle was placced against his neck, "Okay now that was just mean." Kenzie growled playfully at her as Lana sat down. "Do I need a reason to spoil you, it might take a while after that little bottle thing you did." he said snootily before bursting out with laughter. "I just decided to not allow you to risk your live on whatever that thing we call a cafeteria is serving today." Kenzie said as her with a smile.
"Its good to get see you to, the fact of the matter is you need to get out of that school even if its only for an hour. Plus the cafeteria is so busy with both schools occupying it. There has got to be something unhygenic about that many teens in the same cafeteria. Not to mention that the body odour from some of them is enough to turn people of their food." Kenzie said to her with a grin on his face
"Plus being out here with me that has to be a big bonus." Kenzie said to her. "So lets eat and you can tell me all about the uselessness of school this close to the end of the school." Kenzie added. "Between the two of us I'm sure we can find something to talk about to last an entire hour." Kenzie said to him with a grin on his face.

Lana laughed as Kenzie growled playfully at her. She considered that payback for the nigth before when he had not so gracefully shoved her nose into her icecream. But then again, he had licked it off slowly, which had been worth it! "Mean yes, funny..definitely...worth it? Oh yeah." She grinned, taking a seat. "Awww, how sweet." She smiled, finding him very thoughtful for not wanting her to submit to the cafeteria food that afternoon.
She grinned, opening her bottle of water and handing the other one to him. He was right about that. Lana did spend an obnoxious amount of time in school, more so then many of the other students. There was a snicker from her, after swallowing a bit of water at his comment about students and body odor. "You're terrible Caleb.." She grinned, using his first name and waiting for the retaliation. She knew she could use it on occasion and get away with it.
"Yes, being out here with you is a fantastic bonus." She agreed with a nod. The blond picked up one of the containers and opened it, before doing the same to another. "This is the home stretch..just a few more weeks and we are out for summer..and I cannot wait.." She grabbed a fork, handing one to him as well before tucking into the food he had brought. "Have you heard anything about my going with you yet?"

Kenzie laughed, "Not yet, but my mothers are pretty busy people so they could email me or call me tonight or wait until the weekend. I have no idea when they will reply, all I know is that they will reply at some point." Kenzie said to her. "They work the ranch so they are out on the ranch during the day, getting their hands dirty. Neither of my mothers are what you call girlie girls, they like getting their hands dirty." Kenzie said with a grin. "Anyway I really hope you don't care about your nails this summer, because if you do you are going to the very worst place for nail preservation." Kenzie told her.
He opened the bottle of water downing a good sized gulp of it before capping it again and sighing happily. "Your love it no matter what anyway, nothing but open land for almost as far as you can see. The closet property is my dads place to the house." Kenzie said. "We still have the old house and stables, not much goes on up there now but its still there. If you play your cards right I'll give you the guided tour of my childhood home." Kenzie said to her.
"If you come with me to Houston, is their anything you want to do or see?" he asked.

Lana grinned at him, tucking into the food as Kenzie went on to mention that his mothers were both pretty busy but they'd eventually get an answer back to the couple about Lana staying out on the ranch for some of the summer. "Please, Kenz..really? Have I ever come across as one of those froo froo girly girls?" She asked him, lifting an eyebrow as she took a bite of some chicken salad. "I don't care about my nails, trust me." She grinned.
"I honestly cannot wait to go, I really hope they say ok to it, I really do.." Lana smiled. Getting away from her family, even for a couple of weeks sounded amazing, relaxing and just what she needed before her senior year. "Hmm Houston.." She pondered. "I don't know...I think I'll let you show me all your favorite spots." She poked him lightly in the leg with a finger as she remembered something.
"You haven't told me where we are going to dinner before Prom..."

He grinned, "I'll try to remember the best places to take you before we get there. Failing that I'll just by a tourist guide, I may live in Texas during the summer months but I spend most of my time in and around the ranch or visiting friends further out of the way. Having parties, getting drunk and camping out in the wilderness." he explained to Lana with a smile. "We won't need to go into the city a hell of a lot, for entertainment or things to do. At least thats how things usually go, but your not much of an out doors type so I may need to get inventive to keep you entertained." he added.
"I booked a place that does light food, I'm assuming that we are going to the after parties or at least one of them. So I didn't think we would need anything to heavy. I was thinking Italian or Chinese so I booked six different restaurants, you can pick your preference and I'll cancel the others." Kenzie told her with a grin on his face. "Their is probably half a dozen people cursing because they can't get a reservation, something that we have taken from them for the time being." Kenzie added. "I'll show you the options once school is over, I was making the calls to the restaurants on the way in. I have it all written down in my cars glove compartment." he added.

Lana grinned, setting the container of chicken salad down and taking the one of rice pilaf that Kenzie had in his hands instead. She gave him a lookt hat dared him to take it back from her. "I'm sure we will have fun no matter where we end up going this summer." She smiled. She really could not wait. Part of it was getting out of town for the summer, and honestly, she didn't care what her parents thought. She put up with enough crap because of Blake. And the other part was because of actually getting to go out of town with her boyfriend, she really liked that idea, hell she really liked the boy with the idea. "Will we be spending time with your friends and stuff down there as well?" She asked.
"And I can to be the outdoor type!" She protested, swatting him on the arm. "I even mentioned camping didn't I?" She reminded him.
Lana quieted down and let him talk about the ideas for dinner on Prom night. "I like Italian more then Chinese..and 6 different places?" She asked, shaking her head. "You've likely pissed off a lot of people then!" She grinned at him. "So you taking me home today then?" She asked him, taking a sip of her water.

Kenzie nodded, "I have a lot of friends that I only see during the summer months so yeah, we will be spending some time with friends and family that I haven't seen in a while. My mothers are just two of the people I am looking forward to seeing. They come here through out the year but well the others don't get that opportunity. Not every one can afford to drop everything to come to LA or New York." Kenzie explained to Lana with a grin. "Your love most of them, they have been brought up to open doors for the ladies kiss their hands... but definitely respect them for fear of getting smited down by god himself for such an indiscression as disrespecting a woman." Kenzie explained to her.
Kenzie smiled as she said that he had probably angered quite a few people for booking so many restaurants. "So long as I have the hand of a beautiful woman on my arm, I think I can manage to live with a few people being annoyed at my booking so many restaurants." Kenzie said to her with a smile. "I guess I am driving you home tonight, to hell with what the neighbours think when we pull up in my car. You know I might even kiss you at the door to your house before running for my life." Kenzie said to her with a smile.
