Sandy had brought her lunch this day and rightfully so the spaghetti that was being served looked like worms. That had grossed her out.
She headed outside under a nice tree and gently bit into her ham and swiss on rye sandwich before taking out her eBook to begin some reading. Nothing major, just some nice cozy mystery.
As she read her mind could actually see the small town, the little shops along the street. She smiled slightly, wishing she could write like this.
When she got to a good stopping place, she took out a bottle of V8 juice and took a drink. Nothing like a well balanced meal. She went back to her book.
She could hear someone approaching her but nothing that would make her run in fear. She looked up to see who was coming.

Jay had admittedly gotten his ass kicked, so for now he would lay low. Jay couldn't deny what happened he had to face it. Jay could take the humiliation cause he still had his plan for revenge. So let people have their laughs and see the video, if any one got in trouble off the video it would be Wynn for doing most of the beating. That video was showing criminal activity.
Jay would give it up to Wynn. He did do what he had to do. Jay might not stick up for many people, but had it been his sister he would have fought back for her. Oh wait Lexi was Wynn's sister right..cause if not then eww and those two could have each other.
Jay decided not to sit in the cafeteria and took his food outside. He was looking for a place to sit when he recognized a certain red head. Her name was nurse according to Nate. Nate had pointed her out after the whole kiss incident. So Jay figured why not. "Mind if I sit here?" He asked nicely.

Sandy smiled at the brown haired male. "Sure, come on down!" She giggled, making some room for him. "It's nice to see someone else who decided to be outside for lunch as well."
Her mind was already trying to figure him out. He looked older than her, so that ruled out freshman but he also had a young face so that took out senior, at least she thought. "Although I should have second thought, you didn't tell me your name therefor you're a stranger and I don't talk to strangers." Her smile widened slightly to show she was kidding with him.
"I'm Sandy." She introduced herself. "I know I've seen you around school before." She pulled her hair back into a pony tail as she talked.
She only hoped by this point Greg wouldn't see this, he'd have a conniption about it then lecture her about talking to people she didn't know.

"Nate said you were funny." Jay nodded and smiled. She was cute. Just like Nate had said. "Actually I have heard of you....from Nate. He keeps pointing you out and saying your his little nurse." Jay smiled. "I'm Jay." He extended his hand to shake hers. "Nice to finally meet the infamous nurse." He said with a charming smile as she settled in next to her with his legs stretched out and his lunch bag next to him as he pulled out a sandwich.
"So what brings you outside to eat? I couldn't stand being couped up in there." his face showed slight evidence he had been in a fight. That nerd had gotten in a few cheap shots. He wasn't about to mention the video either, but he was kind of avoiding the scrutiny in the cafeteria. Jay was just over it for now. Wynn could have his victory. For now.
It was just so funny. Jay truly was misunderstood./ Had Wynn not thrown a Slurpee on him or done any of the other crap Jay would have left him alone to be honest. Although it didn't matter cause Jay bounced back pretty quickly. Like right now he was chatting up a pretty nurse. Well red head anyway. "Since I hate being a stranger why don't we get to know each other a little better and I mean that in a strictly platonic way of course." He truly did.
"What do you enjoy doing when not stuck in school?"

Nate.
She felt a small chill run down her spine, still feeling the after the kiss incident. She couldn't let on that it still bothered her. At least it was something good he had talked about. "I didn't do anything major, just an ice pack for his ankle." She smiled shyly. "It's a pleasure Jay."
"Same reason, too nice to stay inside, plus the noise gets to be too much after awhile." She noticed his face and how beat up it looked, she was about to ask about that when he suggested they get to know each other a bit more, that might be a good way to find out what happened.
"Hmm what won't bore you to tears?" She lightly joked. "I dance ballet, tap and jazz, do babysitting, help my dad out with his pizza places sometimes, oh and I like to read." Now would be the perfect time to sneak in her bit about his face. "I'm just taking a wild guess here but it looks like you went a couple rounds with Mike Tyson." She was hoping to keep the mood light. "Care to tell me what happened?"

Jay knew the question was coming. Who wouldn't comment on his bruised face. He was surprised it took her so long, "Well that ice pack had an appeal. Nate appreciated it and deemed you a cool chick." Which meant Jay had to be nice or else Nate would kick his ass and no offense to Wynn but Nate had a stronger right hook.
"As for my face, I would not call the other guy Mike Tyson. He was more of a Marty Mcfly, but the kid had a mean punch." Jay said. "I messed with this kid and he decided to not let me get away with it." Jay said. He shrugged, "I deserved it, but I still say he started it by throwing a slushee in my face a few months ago. Still....he got me good. I guess there is no denying it." Not when there was a video going around that showed him getting his ass kicked. besides if Sandy was deemed a cool chick then Jay didn't need to put up no front with her.
"It's not bad, I have been through worse." He really had, "Now back to you, what do you like to read?" He wondered. Jay was always curious what books got to a girls heart and soul, it often spoke to just what the girls enjoyed doing. "Any plans for the weekend? Prom is happening...you been asked yet?"

Sandy let out a small giggle. "Sorry, I just thought it was funny to hear ice pack and cool chick in the same sentence."
She listened quietly. "You poor guy, taken the wrath of the other guy. There's too much fighting already, why don't people just turn the other cheek?" She shook her head. "No, a real man would have know to just back down and figure something else out."
The bruises didn't seem to bother Jay so she decided to move on. "I'm addicted to The Cat Who mysteries, they're good but short plus they have 2 Siamese cats who assist in solving the crime." She realized this made her sound loony. "Mind you the cats don't talk but the one will jump on a bookshelf and knock a book on the floor that gives some sort of clue." It was a decent synopsis of what happened in the books. "I was going to help my father out, he's sponsoring an after prom party, I know doesn't sound exciting or anything but I'll make a little money from it." She smiled. "I wasn't asked to go, but then I'm only a freshman so its not surprising."

Jay had to laugh as well. "I didn;'t even realize. Good catch." He noticed the play on words once she said it. he sighed as she spoke."You have a point. Admittedly I did not help the situation, bt its not always easy to turn the other cheek. Testosterone and all can be a bad thing." Jay was never good at turning the other cheek. He always felt the need to get even. He still was going to get Wynn back until the dork left him alone and learned his place.
Jay was use to the bruises. He had them as a kid and was useto walking around with them. He had learned to ignore them basically. "To each their own. At least the books stick to the fact cats cannot talk. Makes it more realistic which is always good for a book. I like books that stretch the truth as much as the next person, but talking animals. There is something wrong there."
Jay nodded as she spoke, "Doesn't seem fair that just because yu are a freshman youshould have to ignore prom.If you want, I don't have a date, and I wouldlike it if you weremy date?" jay asked. "Come on, I hate going to these things alone, could you join me?" He said hoping she said yes.

"See, reading good mysteries pays off sometimes." She laughed in return. "I know its hard but another way to look at it is that the karma of the whole thing will come around to that person and get them big time. After all what does the testosterone theory prove? Nothing, other than guys tend to act like cavemen."
"I agree with you there, if I want talking animals I'll watch Scooby-Doo!" She moved the ebook from her lap as she took a quick drink of her juice.
"I don't mind really I mean I have..." Jay's words hadn't quite hit her mind yet. "Wait did you just...I mean we just met...I...I...yes I'll go with you!" She leaned over and hugged Jay. "Oh wait, I'll need a dress and get my hair done, oh and my folks will want to meet you! Don't worry about my dad, he may be a big grizzly bear but he's harmless." She was nearly busting at the seams, who would have thought that someone would actually take a mere freshman to the prom?

Jay smiled and hugged her back. Perfect. he had a date for prom and she was kind of cute. Perhaps a bit young being a freshman, but that was okay. "Just give me your number, address and tell me what time to be there. Would you want to have dinner before hand?" he asked her. "I could go for a nice meal at a nice place. My treat of course. And text me your dress color. I need to make sure I get the right corsage for you." Jay gave her a handsome grin.
How perfect. She would be a good date. She was innocent, and nice and would be on his arm. Possibly corruptible, that might have to wait and see, but she was the perfect date for Jay. So young and perfect. Of course Jay would be on his best behavior, and definitely give her a much better kiss then the cafeteria fiasco. Anything to make her want more of him.
The bell rang. "I hate to see the lunch period end. Don't forget to text me once you get the dress and if money is an issue let me know. I am glad you agreed last minute. See you in school tomorrow and here is until Saturday." he lifted her hand and kissed the back of it and smiled. "Have a good rest of the day." he said and stood up. He winked at her before walking off.
