Kye walked outside, squinting behind his plastic glasses from the sun. It was warm--to warm for the hat he liked to wear so much, so his messy brown hair went uncovered and he was dressed simply in a pair of jeans and a green graphic T-shirt giraffes on it. His lunch had been homemade. He brought a turkey sandwich and then a bit of salad that he'd put in some tupperware containter. Really nothing special, but he just hadn't felt like cafeteria food today. Not on his birthday. Yes, today was Kye's 17th birthday and so far it had been rather uneventful. He'd gotten up, showered, got dressed, ate breakfast, went to school, went to his classes. All and all boring. He didn't really have any plans for that night either although his sister assured they'd do something to celebrate. Landon was much bigger on all the celebrations that Kye was. Kye walked out toward one of the outside tables that was empty and sat down, pulling out the contents of his brown paper bag. Inside, was something wrapped in foil...something he hadn't packed so he went for that first curious to see what it was. A smile came to his lips as he saw an extra chocolate cupcake inside...store bought but still. He'd have to thank his sister later... Placing the cupcake to the side he figured he'd have a go at the rest of his lunch first. He went for the sandwich first, about to take a bite when someone plopped down across from him. "I'll text you later after school. We'll have dinner later? My mom and dad are going out and Johnny's rehearsing at school for his recital." Jude smiled when Eddie agreed to the plan and they went their separate ways. Not before engaging in a very very chaste kiss that made both of them blush furiously. They were still very much in the honeymoon phase of the relationship and were very okay with it.
Even as they parted ways, they didn't get the other out of each other's minds. But Jude was also thinking about another boy in her life. One that had become a very good friend over the past few months. Kye was still a bit guarded with Jude for some odd reason but she refused to believe it was anything but the fact that they were just starting out as friends. Landon and Eddie's presence around them helped though and Jude was just way happy she had a fantastic albeit small group of friends and boyfriend for her to hang out with.
Rummaging through her bag for the present she had bought when Landon mentioned Kye's birthday was today, she smiled when the gift box appeared in her vision, carefully wrapped in a plain silver wrapping paper. She searched for Kye and finally found him out at the quad by himself about to eat a sandwich. She quietly made her way over.
Careful not to wrinkle her powder blue pleated pinafore, she slipped one hand across her bum as she sat down on the bench with a grin. "Hey Kye." She placed her tie dye bag on the table beside her and patted his hand. "Haven't seen you the past couple days. Where've you been?"

Kye's cheeks instantly turned pink when Jude sat down across from him. It didn't help that she touched his hand ever so gently. Oh Jude...Kye had such a crush on the girl. But of course she was taken...dating Eddie, who Kye had met more than a few times now. The thing that killed him was that he liked Eddie. Eddie was a great guy! It made him feel even worse for having a thing for Jude, who clearly thought of him as nothing more than a friend.
"Hey Jude," he said, "I mean hi, sorry I know you hate the whole 'hey Jude' thing," he told her. "I haven't really been anywhere special," he said with a shrug. "Just the same old I guess," he said, not really wanting to get into the disaster that was his life. His mom had been out of town for a few days, only returning today for his birthday. But when his mom was away, her awful boyfriend was well, extra awful. He and Landon had mostly just been avoiding the house extra. Not things he wanted to tell Jude about. Sure, she knew the gist of it all, but Kye had been very careful never to go into the details. "What have you been up to?" he asked, noticing the present for the first time.
He pressed his lips together. He knew that Jude had no idea it was his birthday. He hadn't told anyone on purpose since he wasn't always comfortable celebrating himself. Plus, he had never had many friends so the celebrations he had had in the past were rather pathetic... He preferred not to relive that. And maybe the cupcake Landon had packed for him betrayed his wish to hide it was his birthday a little bit, but he hoped that Jude just didn't ask about that. "Did Eddie get you a present?" he asked, assuming that was it, but not really wanting to know much about it. He didn't like thinking of Jude and Eddie as a couple even though they were probably the most perfect couple he'd ever seen. Kye would never have that....
OOC: hey if you could like mention when Jude got him in your next post, that would be awesome so I can know what Kye's reaction would be...

Jude laughed and waved a dismissive hand when Kye accidentally said hey instead of hi. Jude didn't mind when Kye or Eddie did it. Or to be honest, she didn't care at all as long as the person doing it wasn't mocking her or anything. And she knew Kye would never mock her. They were friends. Really good friends! She liked being friends with Kye because he was so sweet and really smart. At least in her opinion he was. He looked a bit upset though when he answered where he'd been. Landon and Kye didn't really talk much about their home life and Jude never pushed. She didn't want to push. They would tell her when they were ready and she was willing to listen whenever that day came. So she didn't question Kye about it, instead telling him what she had been up to. "Nothing much really but I did go to an audition for this tv show which I'll have a call back to. But enough about me." She cocked her head to the side and smiled at Kye. Just as she was about to bring up the present, Kye noticed it and she blushed. There went the surprise. "Um...no this is actually a present for you. Surprise! Happy birthday! Landon told me like weeks ago." She took the box out and slid it towards Kye. "It's nothing big really." She was well aware of Kye's love for funky looking t-shirts and when she saw the t-shirt at a store, she thought it was a very Kye like t-shirt. It had "Awesomeness" printed in huge letters with cartoon characters of people and dinosaurs and UFOs. It looked really funky. "I thought it was very you." Jude grinned. [OOC: The present!]

"Oh really?" Kye asked. "What was the show about?" he asked. "I bet you'll get it," he added, surprised Jude wasn't already on a hit show. She was really talented...the most talented, or at least that's what Kye though. It probably didn't hurt that he was completely enamored with her. He was seriously crushing on her...of course he thought that she was the best and most talented. Sure it was true, her talent was there, but Kye was probably bias to it over other people's talents.
Jude blushed at the mention of the present and Kye's heart pounded harder in his chest. He loved when he made her blush. It was the small hope that maybe her feelings toward him weren't completely platonic. Of course each and every time he had hope, he convinced himself against it. But no matter. He still had her as a friend and she was great at that as well.
It was his turn to blush again when she brought up his birthday. "I should of known she'd say something about it," he mumbled. "Thanks though," he said taking the silver wrapped box. "I...well, I don't get many presents usually, so...I really appreciate it," he told her. He unwrapped it slowly, tearing at it from the edges. Once the box was open and he could see what was in time, a smile was brought to his lips as he saw the T-shirt. It looked like just something that he'd buy himself!
"I love it," he said still smiling as he pulled it out of the box. "Thank you so much," he told her.

"It's stupid," Jude laughed in embarrassment, waving it off like it was nothing. Kye's confidence that she would get it made Jude blush. "Aww, Kye thanks for being so supportive of me." The blonde sophomore squeezed the male junior's hand one more time, smiling at him. "You're a really awesome friend, you know that?"
When Kye blushed, Jude bit back a giggle. Kye did that a lot which was adorable. Why couldn't any of the other girls see how sweet Kye is? Maybe Jude should find Kye someone. She knew she already found the person she was meant to be with so why not spread the good fortune around? It must really suck being the third wheel most of the time when Eddie and her hang out with him and Landon.
For the most part, Eddie and Jude never acted like a couple around Kye and Landon even though it was quite obvious that they wanted to. They never made out in front of Kye or Landon either just so they didn't turn out like those icky couples that forget about everything else when they're together. But still, Jude always felt that Kye felt a bit out of place whenever Eddie was around.
Maybe if she found Kye someone to hang out with who wasn't his sister or Jude, he'd be a bit more comfortable.
"Yeah, I might have forced it out of her a little bit," Jude chuckled. "You're welcome, Kye. I hope you don't think this is the first and last of them from me for your birthdays! I'm sure Eddie will get you something if I told him it was your birthday." Smiling, she watched him as he opened the present. Her smile widened when he started smiling.
Jude clasped both hands in front of her in excitement. "You do? Really? Yay!" She practically bounced in her seat in an attempt to control her excitement. "Happy birthday Kye!" She giggled.
[OOC: I was so tempted to add in that Eddie picked it with Jude but nooooo it would be WAYYY too much torture for Kye! >.<]

Kye smiled when she told him he was an awesome friends, his cheeks renewing a shade of pink that had been fading. He still wished that he could be an awesome more than friend but he had to remember how perfect Jude and Eddie were. Kye would just never be in the picture the way Eddie was....
If Kye knew that Jude was thinking about finding a girl for him, he would have been very mortified. She clearly had no idea that he was pretty much in love with her...okay love was probably a bit strong of a word...but he liked her a lot. And he wanted to keep it that way. He didn't want her to know because he did care about her and the last thing he wanted to do was screw up her relationship with Eddie, even if he did daydream about them breaking up or Eddie moving away and then her actually wanting to be with Kye. But those were just dreams...he was realistic enough to know that those would never be reality.
Although in reality Kye was meeting people outside of Jude. There was that Taki guy that he was going to go ghost hunting with again. Although Kye had never mentioned this to Jude mostly because he still thought that ghost hunting was kind of silly and he didn't want Jude to know that he was partaking in it. It was embarrassing really. After all, Kye did not believe in ghost. He still doubted ghost hunting would change that believe...and Takumi was kind of strange and that Elena girls even stranger, but they actual treated him like a person which was something that Kye wasn't really used to outside of his sister, and of course Jude and now Eddie. So he'd go along with it for the sake of the people that would hopefully become his friends.
"Thanks...I mean, you really didn't have to, but thanks," he said, a little uncomfortable with the idea of Eddie getting him a present as well since Eddie was the guy he really did like but wanted to hate sometimes. But he said nothing and just smiled. "Yeah...I mean, of course I like it. It's really perfect," he assured her. And it really was, he wasn't just saying it or anything. It looked like something he'd pick out for himself, so Jude had done a good job.
Although his eyes widened when she practically screamed Happy Birthday at him. "SHHHH!! I still don't want everyone to know," he whispered. The last thing he needed was random people who could care less about him pretending to care with empty birthday wishes.
OOC: sorry I took longer to reply on this one...I swore I had already replied but I guess I hadn't...lol
