Thanks to mom, DJ was able to skip out on the morning classes to get fitted for his tuxedo for prom. Being an extra large man as well, it meant going to the big and tall men's store.
The clerk took the measurements and was impressed with the numbers. "Must be a football player." He commented.
DJ grinned. "Defensive tackle for Silver high."
The clerk laughed slightly. "Why doesn't that surprise me in the least?" As he wrote the measurements down. 'We'll have the tux ready by tomorrow at 5."
DJ went back into the dressing room and changed into his school clothes, which was a short sleeved t-shirt, jeans with a small rip in the knees.
As he and his mom left the store, she asked him. "You have the corsage for Trixie?"
"Shit uhh sorry, I mean no I don't I haven't heard or seen what she's going to wear, let me call her."
He took out his phone and hit the speed dial for Trixie.

Trixie was pacing her room. She and Jay had yet another fight. Jay had told trixie repeatedly how selfish it was for her to ruin DJ's future. Letting him go into the police academy instead of college. It was totally selfish, cause a cop was the worst job DJ could do. Jay used the argument that DJ could get shot and die someday, leaving her all alone. Trixie argued back that who knew if that someday would be them. They were not talking marriage now. They had only been dating for four months. Still Trixie liked the idea of police academy over college cause it kept DJ in town. However, she was realizing that was a shallow move. trixie was having a hard time deciding if DJ really wanted to be a cop or if he was just choosing that career cause she had basically told him she was dumping him if he went off to college. Cause Trixie did not do Long distance relationships. Again yes that was a selfish move, hence the dilemma as she paced her room. She looked at her prom dress. She had bought it the moment she laid eyes on it. It was one of her favorite colors, purple. It was a bit scandalous but thats Trixie. She would have gone simple, but trixie Michaels was not a simple girl. She heard the phone ring and sighed. Odds were she would be going to prom alone cause it was time to be non selfish and let DJ go so he could truly make up his own mind without Trixie threatening him cause she was to insecure for her own good. The girl who gave off an aura of confidence inf ace was very insecure. "Hello." Trixie asked her voice cold as she heard DJ's voice. Just hearing it was causing her to melt, but she had to stay strong. DJ's mom smiled. Despite catching the two in bed, it was clear that DJ had fallen for Trixie. It was sweet. There was something about young romance that made things seem magical.
"Hey Trix, I was wondering about a corsage for prom? I was thinking a wrist one. Maybe like an orchid or something along those lines. I also need some ideas for dinner that night, I want this to be a special night for you."
He looked over at his mom who gave him a nod of approval.
"As a thought I was thinking maybe Italian, something with candle light and soft music playing. How's it sound?" It did seem weird talking like this with a parent nearby but things were important.

"What is this some bad recreation of Lady and the Tramp. Next you will tell me we will share spaghetti and you will hire a guy to play Bella Note." Trixie said into the phone. Her voice was intentionally hurtful and harsh. "Listen do not worry about a little flower for my wrist, cause prom is not happening. I never even bought a dress. i told you I find prom to be a stupid tradition." Trixie said.
A total bold face lie since she was looking at said prom dress right now. If DJ had been there in person he might realize it, but she hoped over the phone he would believe her. "You know what today is right...its been four months since we started to..you know..date and i thinks its time to you know, end said dating." Her voice trembled with the last set of words. Cause she didn't want to lose him, but it was for the better of his future.
"I think its for the best cause face it, we both know it was a matter of time, and four months is thirty days longer then i usually date a guy so consider yourself lucky. " Trixie said the pain was evident in her voice. "Good bye. I guess....yes..." a brief pause. "bye." Tears could be heard in her voice as the last word came out so sadly from her voice. She hung up the phone and quickly took the dress to hang in the back of her closet. Looks like she would not be going to prom after all.

DJ nearly dropped his phone hearing Trixie's words. "Ok cut the joking Trixie, this isn't like you. Did Jay set you for this? I'll..."
Something made DJ snap back at her. "Damn it Trixie, quit playing these games with me! If these past four months didn't mean anything to you, then it's your loss not mine!"
DJ's mom glanced over and not liking what she was hearing.
"You know what? Your right, we won't go to prom! You can just sit at home and let Jay gloat about everything feeding that feeble ego of his!" He didn't hear her last words being "good bye".
DJ's mom had enough. She pulled into a parking lot and stopped the car and slapped him!
"I don't know what happened, but I will not let you talk like that to anyone!"
DJ was taken by slap! "Mom, she wants to play these mind games and I've had it. I mean it seems pointless anymore."
"Four months DJ, that should mean something to you. If Trixie means anything to you then you will convince her to go." She grabbed the GPS device from the dashboard. "Put in her address, we're going over there."
It wasn't long before they were there. DJ went to the door where Trixie's grandma met him sending him up to her room.
He stood in her doorway like a formidable force. "Let's get one thing straight, I think the world of you and nothing is going to change that. Not Jay's poisoning your mind or your past, nothing!" He entered Trixie's room, grabbed her tightly and kissed her.

Trixie hung up the phone and started crying. She sat on her bed and grabbed her IPOD. She put her head phones on and started playing sad songs like "Thundar Rolls" and "What Hurts the Most". She kept playing the various songs over and over with tears. Her heart was ripping cause she was just so afraid of her future. So afraid that one day she would lose DJ and never get him back. Call it teenage hormones, or a whirlwind romance, but Trixie was falling for DJ and she couldn't stop herself.
Nana answered the door and smiled, "I am sure you know where her room is." Nana moved to let DJ through and looked at his mom, "Can I get you something dear?" Nana led the way to the kitchen, "You have quite the son there. Douglas has been a godsend for Trixie. I know she is tough and makes decisons she shouldn't but just between you and I...she is falling in love with that boy and its scaring her." Nana said with a smile.
Trixie had not expected to see DJ. She thought he got the hint. She jumped when she heard her door open. She was up and off the bed, "D....DJ, what are you." He started speaking, "Don't....don't say that..." She said. She tried to back up but DJ was too fast for her and had her in his arms and was kissing her. She pushed against his chest, trying to push him off, but its as if DJ knew she truly didn't want him to stop cause he didn't stop.
Soon her efforts to push him away gave way to her swooning in his arms as she began to kiss DJ back with passion. Which contradicted her previous words over the phone. She lide her tongue between his lips massaging his. When they finally pulled away Trixie looked him in the eyes, "Not fair. You weren't suppose to come here. You know I can't think when you touch me...or kiss me.....I am trying to be serious..." But then she kissed him, proving she was anything but serious about breaking up.
