Wynn saw the fliers and heard the gossip around school about prom. How he hated this time of year, especially now. He sighed as he approached his locker and fumbled with the lock until it opened. He started to get his things for the first couple of periods when he heard someone yell, "Hey nerd!"
He looked up slowly and saw Jay Michaels coming toward him with a rather intent look on his face.
Payback was going to be a bitch and big time!
He clutched the strap to his messenger bag tightly, he had no idea what Jay was going to do to him.
What ever it was, it wasn't going to be pleasant.

Jay was in a bad mood. first he had issues with his sister and her idea that she could finally have that castle on a cloud that never existed. Then he had to get payback on the little worm that still seemed to have some of Lexi's affections. Jay thought he was squashing that, but apparently he had to give the punk a bigger signal to back off. So today was that day. Wynn was the perfect guy for Jay to take his anger out on. of course Jay had to bring friends.
Jay stopped as his friends circled Wynn. "I cannot offer a smoothie in a face, but i can offer a more appealing way of dealing with you." yes he never forgot the smoothie. "I was able to get over the smoothie until you became a bigger pain in my ass. Now it's time to show you how i deal with said pain in my ass." Jay motioned. His friends picked Wynn up.
Jay made them follow him outside to the Dumpster and he made a motion. his friends tossed Wynn into the dumpster. Jay started to laugh. "You know if you need help with lunch you could ask. no need to dumpster dive. Poor guy likes eating trash." jay laughed which cause a small circle of people to join and start laughing too.

Lexi wasn't too pumped up to go to school even if Jay was there and he was probably the only thing keeping her from jumping off a bridge right then. It meant seeing Wynn. The last time they saw each other, it ended on a very sour note. She didn't want him to think she was avoiding him now. But if she was seen with Jay, it could be worst.
But go, she did. She had been avoiding Pip since she found out Jay and her have been hooking up. So when they bumped into each other in the halls of school during lunch, Lexi tried her best to look perfectly calm but her twin's words chilled her. "Your boyfriend is working up a crowd with a nerd." Frowning, Lexi raced out to find a crowd around where the Dumpster was located. "No..." she whispered before shoving through the mass unapologetically until she heard Jay's words and saw Wynn in the trash.
"Jay! What the hell?" Lexi yelled before pushing Jay's friends away to get to the rancid smelling Dumpster to find Wynn struggling to get out. "Wynn? Wynn, are you okay?" She tried to get as much rubbish off Wynn so he could climb out. She turned back to Jay. "What the hell, Jay?" she spat at the boy.

Wynn hadn't expected to be picked up and he protested the entire way.
"Put me down!!" He yelled hitting the other kid on the back, which didn't seem to have an effect.
He soon felt himself being hurled into the dumpster. He heard the laughter and Jay's mocking words as he slowly stood up in the filfth and garbage.
He could hear Lexi but his focus was on Jay. "Yeah I'm fine." He growled brushing stuff aside. On his shoulder was a banana peel, he grabbed in and said the first thing that came to his mind.
"Keep laughing monkey boy!" He said as he threw the peel and it hit Jay in the chest.

"I am teaching this kid a lesson. If he wants to put himself in the center of my world, then i will happily put him in the center of it." Jay gestured the the crowd that had surrounded the trashcan and smiled. "He had it coming Lexi. He messed with me one too many times. I can forgive, but never forget and he crossed too many lines. I couldn't not just sit around." He told the woman. "What did you think would happen, i just sit back and let this kid keep having his say." jay was beyond playing nice.
"You prefer runts Lexi...thats not like you. i thought guys like Tyler and I were more your style, not dorks with no sense of scruples." Then the banana peel came. "Oh you shouldn't have done that. Boys, I think Wynn should meet part two of the plan." Jay made a motion and four guys picked up buckets of this nasty, smelling odor from the side and poured it over Wynn, "Courtesy of the locker room."
Jay smiled, "care to try something else dumpster boy. What about you Lexi..you with me...or you going to become a dork and get lost among the crowd." He said not being Mr. nice guy anymore. He was done when this kid said one too many things.

If there was ever a time to hulk out, now was it! Wynn wiped his the gunk from his face. The laughter grew, making his temper take over his head.
He let out a yell and charged Jay tackling him down. Wynn's fists were flying in every direction, he didn't care where contact was made, he just wanted Jay gone!
One of Jay's friends went to grab Wynn but was met by a sharp set of teeth in his hand! No one was going to stop Wynn now! He didn't notice the crowd slowly gathering.
Fingers were flying as well as phones going up to record what might be considered a nerd victory.
Wynn's fists flinging started to slow down but his breathing was still heavy and his temper was still there.

Jay's words enraged Lexi. "You don't even know who I am." She hissed. She couldn't believe she let things with him escalate. Wynn was right. Guys like him were exactly the same. They may have different pasts that make them the way they are but they all cared for nothing but themselves. And she bought his good guy act. Man, was she stupid.
"This is getting out of hand, Jay." Lexi said and she heard a collective gasp as Wynn started bashing on Jay. "Wynn! Stop that!" Lexi ran to pull Wynn away from Jay. "If being with you means I have to stand idly by while you humiliate people like this, you seriously do not know me at all. This ends here, Jay. I don't care for your popularity anymore." She was close to tears and she was fully aware of the people around them.
"You may not care about this but honestly, I have just been using you the past few weeks to put my mind off a guy that I thought I was in love with. So thanks for that." Lexi didn't know where her words were coming from but she was already pulling Wynn away from the scene inch by inch. She wasn't trying to save him or anything, far from it. She was so proud of Wynn for trying to stand up for himself.
"Jay, you're a big bully and a downright loser. I may be a geek, and I may get lost in the crowd. But if you knew what other people thought of you, you might want to rethink your popularity and the so called respect your 'friends' have for you." She made air quotes with her fingers to emphasise the word friends. She knew she was going to pay big time for this but she couldn't care anymore. Jay had stepped out of line. And Wynn was an undeserving victim.
"Wynn...are you coming?" Lexi curled one hand around Wynn's gently.

Jay felt his body hit the floor adn felt hit after hit, which caused him to punch back. jay got a few good punches in. He was sure Wynn had at least a bloody nose and would have pain near his ribs. Although Wynn did have the victory over Jay, he did kick jay's ass, but Jay was okay with the few good punches he got in. Well for now. As Wynn was pulled off Jay's friends helped him to his feet.
"Its a good thing the lady is protecting you, or else you would need an ambulance." jay said to Wynn. "You better have your body guard on you twenty four seven, cause I will get payback." He said referring to Lexi as being the body guard. He was just trying to save face. Wynn had just kicked his ass, so the only weapon he had was to make it seem as if Wynn needed the protection of a girl.
He heard all of Lexi's words. "And I was only with you cause I figured you would be an easy lay. I didn't think you were Mother Theresa. Such a tease. Kissing one minute and a cold fish the next. I am not sure you really like boys. You might try batting for your own team." He said to Lexi. "no guy wants a cold fish." He said as his friends laughed. It was all Jay could do. He had to be mean to keep from being looked at as the guy who got his ass kicked by a dork and his ass handed to him by a female dork. cause thats what just happened. They won and Jay lost this battle, but he would find a way to bounce back.
"Looks Like I got friends behind me, and more then are standing in your corner." He said to Wynn and Lexi. "I have all the friends I need. Just wait till I tell my sister what went down. Soon no one will even remember your name Dash." jay said speaking of trixie and how mean she could be when she had a target, "You think I'm bad, you haven't met the evil side of my sister...yet." he smirked. "Now go...run back to mommy and daddy." He laughed as he backed up, turned around and headed off with his friends. Leaving the other two in a trail of his dust. In reality Jay was retreating like a dog with his tail between his legs. he had been humiliated, but hopefully he saved face.

Wynn kept his eyes locked on Jay as talked. He wanted to say shut the hell up but Wynn knew this was a cover to hide embarrassment.
Wynn couldn't help but to smirk. He was tasting the sweetness of victory. He ran his hand through his slicked hair from the goo that had been dumped on him.
He called to Jay as he left. "I have friends too!" He flung the goo from his hands.
"One second, Lexi, I have something to ask you." he swallowed nervously. "I know its last minute and everything but would you care to go to prom with a sewage smelling guy like me?" He smiled crookedly awaiting her answer.

Jay's words were empty and even though it collected laughter, Lexi didn't care anymore. If Jay's sister was going to make her life a living hell, bring it on. Lexi only had one more year and she was done with school so whatever Jay's sister had up her sleeve, Lexi was not going to live her life in misery thinking about it. She had years of practice with her twin sister.
When he left and the crowd dispersed, Lexi turned to Wynn who looked a mess. Lexi took off the sweater she had over her plain t-shirt and wiped the goo off him. "I'm so proud of you, Wynn..." she said softly with a smile. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you when you told me about Jay." She bit her lower lip and continued to clean him up a bit.
His question froze her smile and she was speechless for a second, taking in his own smile. "Wynn...I," she paused and bit her lower lip to stop from grinning too widely before she nodded. "I'd love to go," she dropped her hand to take his. "You're not angry with me? I thought you were going to be angry with me for covering for you but, you're asking me to the prom and..." she trailed off with a huge grin on her face. "Yes, I know I already said yes but yeah...prom."
