He laughed at her when she yelped at the seaweed ‘attack’ and he helped untangle the length of slimy stuff from her hand. Felipe threw it to one side. He was still grinning at her ‘ew’ ing and ‘yuck’ ing but had to agree about the sushi part. Raw fish? Ok... strictly speaking sushi wasn’t solely raw fish but... some of it was! Out of it all Felipe had an inkling seaweed would be the most appealing to him!
He lifted his shoulders at her last point. “Quite possible as it is one of Ana Izabel’s favourite films. Perhaps we should opt for the horror movie instead? No way would she join us for that! We can have a look at the rental place and see what they have. We might find something completely different that we haven’t even thought of.”
He glanced down at his hands as they lay loosely clasped in his lap. “So other than the dance what are your plans for this coming weekend?” he asked. “For myself I am busy on Saturday but perhaps we can do something together on the Sunday? Unless, of course, you will be too tired after the Prom,” he added with a grin.

Liz sent him a scowl as he dared to laugh at her for being grossed out by the seaweed. "You're mean.." She added, giving him a pout. He did help her get the nasty stuff off at least, so there was a brownie point for him.
That pout turned to a grin as Felipe mentioned that his sister might end up invading on their movie night. "Definitely.." She shifted, tucking her skirt more under her legs to keep that sand from getting into unmentionable areas. "Think we should rent some for the rest of the family as well? Maybe have everyone do their own indivual movie night..so they leave us alone. snacks and all that fun." It was an interesting offer, and should keep his brothers, sister and parents away from them for the evening.
Liz couldn't help but smile as he asked her out for Sunday after Prom. "Saturday is going to be crazy. I have spa at 10, nails at 1, hair at 2, home and dressing by 5, what time are you picking me up since we are talking about it." Liz couldn't wait to see Felipe all 007 in his tux. She made a mental note to call the florist in the morning and verify the pick up time for his boutonniere as well.
"What makes you so sure you are going to be going hom Saturday night afterward?" She asked, lifting an eyebrow up at him playfully. "But yes, Sunday would be good..we can do breakfast, early movie at the cinema..I'm open to anything." Liz chewed gently on the corner of her lower lip, grinning happily. She looked over at him, stil smiling.

“Aah... what time does it start? Seven or so?” he asked. “Shall we make it for 7.30?” That sounded good to him. That way they’d arrive around 8.00... not first and by far from last. For himself he had a few things to do during Saturday. Collect the corsage and his tuxedo for starters! And the car... He’d booked the limo but now would need to confirm timing.
He lifted an eyebrow at her comment regarding the night following the dance and he grinned back at her. “Can’t do breakfast Sunday,” he said. “but we can meet up mid morning. I have a surfing lesson,” Felipe told her. “With... ah... Ben and... um... his sister.”
Felipe had gotten to know the Patridge twins over the past couple of months following their somewhat tricky (for tricky read disastrous) first meeting. While they would never be precisely close friends they got on well enough to move past any misunderstanding. Eden in particular seemed friendly and Ben had been more than happy to offer Felipe a lesson on the surf board. Pre-breakfast was better, so Ben had told him. At that time the surf was normally good without being too strong to make learning impossible.
“But definitely after that we should do something,” he finished.

Liz was actually slightly surprised to hear that dinner was not part of the pre prom plans. It was traditional as far as she understood the American custom anyway. But then again, neither of them had brought it up so she supposed it was no big deal. "7"30 is fine." Liz agreed lightly, tossing her hair off of her face. It was Felipe's next statement that didn't sit well.
He couldn't do breakfast..the morning after prom..because he was going surfing? Seriously? That's like signing up to work the early morning shift the morning after your graduation or new years...it just didn't happen. Prom was meant to be an all night thing. The dance at the school, the after party at wherever, the private party in the early morning hours after that, then getting an early breakfast before collapsing into one's bed just after dawn.
She couldn't begrudge him his friendships with the Partridge twins. He was a free man and able to speak to whomever he chose. It was just the timing of it. Any other morning, Liz would have given a salute and bid them well..but the morning after Prom? Then again, she shouldn't have expected anything beyond the dance itself from the Brazilian. She wasn't his girlfriend, no matter how she felt or how connected they seemed to be, especially lately.
"Sure.." She answered quietly, getting up from her position in the sand. Despite the slight misting drizzle, Liz walked out from beneath the pier itself, crossing to a nearby rubbish bin to throw her garbage from lunch away. She stood for a few moments, her hands rubbing her bare upper arms as she turned to look out over the ocean just feet from her. It was the wrong ocean, but in the same sense, the same one as all of the Earth's oceans were connected. It had taken her parents from her, It had altered the course of her life so violently that she could not help but hate it at times. Leaning down, Liz picked up a small shell from the sand. Closing her palm around it for a moment, Liz dropped it back down before moving back under the pier. "I hope you enjpy your lesson...I'd meant to keep you to myself all night but as you have other plans..something later is fine."

He watched her walk away, the hint of a frown on his face. Had he said something wrong? Ok, so he knew LizBeth and the Patridges didn’t get on but that wasn’t a reason for her to act this... was it? Unless she’d been serious about him staying over! If so why had she added a grin at the end? No, that couldn’t be it.
It was... most odd.
“I shall probably be terrible at surfing,” he said with a wry lift of his shoulders. “But now that I am living in California I should at least give it a try... right? “I can stay late at your place after I run you home... if you’d like that,” he added as a way of consolation. “And you can decide what we do on Sunday... How does that sound?”
Being from a different country Felipe had no way of knowing that the Prom encompassed dinner as well... Had he known that of course he would have included that in their plans. As it was he remained in innocent oblivion.
"I mean, if you wanted to come to the beach on Sunday morning as well I'm sure it would be ok..." Who was he kidding? All hell would likely break loose!

Liz carefully sat back down in the sand, tucking her skirt in neatly. She'd taken her heels off when they had left the pier so she was barefoot at least. Her mouth was starting to hurt a little bit again, but it wasn't bad enough for the narcotics she had in her bag. Liz picked up her purse and dug around in it till she found a pair of regular tylenol, popping them into her mouth and washing them back with a sip from a bottle of water she'd grabbed at the store.
"No, you will be fine at surfing.." She answered back, hopefully reassuring him. Liz looked at him for a moment. "Don;t change your plans just because I had other ideas..it's fine..really." She told him, giving him a small smile. "I just..never mind.." She shook her head, sitting back with her back against the pillar, her shoulder brushing his.
There was an amused snort from the Brit when he suggested she could come along too. "oh..I think that's a bad idea..they both hate me and it wouldn't be fair to you and your lesson." Liz smirked. "They'd be hatin' and jealous cause Eden will never look as good as I do in a bathing suit...plus me...2 piece suit...you trying to surf..distraction?" She glanced over at him. "I could meet you on the beach at the end of your lesson, and we can go from there.."

He shot LizBeth a sideways glance, not sure if he had upset her. Probably more a touch of disappointment maybe. “Sounds good. And maybe we can go for breakfast then? I will no doubt be starving after all that exercise! And you’re right in that you would be distracting,” he added with a grin. Maybe this would all work out ok after all? As long as he managed to keep Eden and Liz apart, that is! “Shall we meet here on Sunday? By the pier? At maybe 9?”
She nodded slightly.
“And if you like on Saturday we can even go for a bite to eat before the dance. I can easily have the limo pick us up at a restaurant instead of our houses. Would you like that?” She seemed so low right now and so soon after being so bright and cheerful. It could only be down to his mention of Ben and Eden.
“And I will even let you pick tonight’s movie.” He grinned and lifted his shoulders. “Not sure I can be a hell of a lot fairer than that!” he finished on a laugh.

Felipe was being really wonderful in trying to make Liz smiil, in trying to work it so he could spend Sunday morning with her as well as keep his plans to surf. It wasn't his having other plans that had damped her spirits. It was her own reminder that she was not his girlfriend. They went out together, did everything that a normal couple did, but he was free to do said things with other girls as well. Was it wrong that she wanted him to herself in terms of a relationship? Yes, she ahd screwed up two months ago..yes, things were back to where they should be between them. She just..wanted exclusive.
"Like I would be able to focus on anything while you are running around in swim trunks either.." She grinned slightly. He suggested they meet at 9 near the pier, and she nodded in response. 9 was good, she could sleep a little bit after he dropped her off and get ready.
He then offered dinner before the dance, which was nice. It was just one more normal couple thing that they did. "Dinner sounds great.." She told him. "Are we meeting there or are you picking me up first?" She asked. Normal American prom tradition had the guy picking the girl up at her house, posing for pictures, exhanging corsage/boutonniere, then heading to dinner after. Plus..with the dress she had chosen, there was no way that she could get the same sort of entrance walking into a restaurant and over to his table as she could by gliding down the stairs. she remembered how his face had lit up on their first date. Liz wanted him to look up, see her and go speechless, mutter something about god before asking her to be his. She wanted him to want her.
"No..I will not force you to sit through something that you do not want...I did that with Monty Pyton, because honestly, anyone dating an Englishperson must be initiated into it with torture.." Another smile danced on her mouth. "We will decide the movies together."

Meeting there or picking her up? What was the right thing to do? He looked at Liz uncertainly. “What would you prefer?”
“Pick me up, of course!” she answered.
“Toda para a direita. Fantástico!” he exclaimed. “Then that’s what I shall do! We should still try and get to the prom around 8 or so perhaps so if I pick you up at 6.30... How does that sound?” She nodded and their plans for Saturday - as well as Sunday now - were finalised. The weekend looked to be shaping up to a pretty good one.
“LizBeth...”
“Hmm...?”
“You know that I have taken a few other girls out over the past couple of months...” She didn’t say anything to that and he shot her a terse glance. “I was thinking... Did you want to make it so that we only see each other?” He’d been intending asking her that same question 2 months ago at the carnival but that evening had morphed from bad straight into disastrous, missing all the adjectives in between. “What do you think? Good idea? Terrible one?"

Felipe asked her which she preferred. Did she want to be picked up or did she prefer to meet him? "Pick me up, of course!" He agreed, and it set the last few plans for this weekend in motion. She honestly could not wait for Saturday. Fefe replied in his native tongue, and Liz looked over at him, biting her lower lip. It sent shivers down her back when he did that.
Pick up at 6"30, a quick dinner, and off to the dance, and then, who knew for afterward. Things were looking pretty damn good right now. Liz leaned her head back against the pillar, her eyes closing for a moment as she just listening to things. He spoke.
"hmm...?" She answered almost lazily.
Liz slowly turned her head to look at her Brazilian as he commented on having taken a few other girls out over the last few months. She said nothing, but there was a tightness in her jaw that she didn't need him seeing. Yes..she knew he'd gone out with other girls. Just because she agreed to it, didn't mean that she had to like it, now did it? However, the next phrase out of his finely shaped mouth lifted an eyebrow from her and caused a smile to curl slowly. Only...date..each other? "You're saying you want us to be exclusive now?" She asked him, turning her body more toward him.
He nodded.
"What do I think?" She asked him, shifting to carefully move into his lap. "I think it's a very, very good idea.." She leaned in, brushing a soft, lingering kiss across his mouth. "Means I get you all to myself..and I don't really like sharing anyway.." It actually meant that Felipe meant that he was fully able to trust her and wanted to be with her, and that meant so much.
