Greg was helping a neighbor by taking their dog for a walk. It was am easy way to earn a little money and not relying on the money from television.
The walk was going well, until the dog decided to become its own being. For being a small dog, it was quick and showed it by running as fast as its little legs could go.
"Max, stop! Slow down or something!" Greg called out to the Bischon Friese, who ignored him completely. The dog finally stopped sending Greg head over heels. It looked acrobatic but the landing could use some work.
"I should put you in the plastic bag!" Greg grumbled to the dog, who put on an innocent face. He heard a small bit of laughing nearby, he turned to see who it was.

Ashley was out running, his parents were watching Kai for a couple of hours, as he ran down a road he didn't really know all that well he spotted someone being dragged along by an out of control dog. He chuckled as he jogged a little faster to try to catch the dog before it got away from its owner. As he arrived he heard the boy reprimand the dog and chuckled.
"You have to use a different voice than that, the dog won't respond to being told of if you talk to it in your normal voice. He'll think your playing with him." Ashley said then realized that it was Greg and he offered his hand to the boy. "Didn't realise it was you Greg, this one yours?" he asked as he used the other hand to scratch the dogs head. "Pretty cute dog." Ashley said to him as he straightened himself out.
Ashley didn't know whether he should bring up Alex or leave it to Alex to tell him about the two of them, he would just come across as the over protective boyfriend and father which wasn't him.

Greg took Ashley's hand and got to his feet. "Don't let the spawn of Satan fool you. She looks sweet and innocent but the dog is evil." Greg laughed knowing well the dog was just being its normal self.
"I'm doing a favor for a neighbor, she hurt her foot and needed a walker for a couple of days so I offered. I thought it was an easy way to make money for the time being."
He watched as Ashely scratched the dog's head. "I have the secret to the dog though," He squatted down and looked her in the eye. "No treat when we get home."
The dog let out a whimper. Greg stood and smiled. "Its like working with a kid..." he cut himself off. "Not that I need tell you that." It was hard to remember that he had a two year old son.
It did make him think of Alex and what was going on with her. "So umm what been going on with you and Alex? My sister has been wanting to babysit Kai." There was a small lie there, but it was better than being all butched up and bullied and be all "I want your girlfriend!"

Ashley laughed, "I did it the hard way, not every one has the same expericence that I did." Ashley said to him. "But yeah teaching a dog to do as it is told, is a lot like teaching a child to walk or something. Except with kids its a lot less hair to deal with, unless you have one of those bald dogs then its a close thing." Ashley told him.
Ashley nodded he guessed since he hadn't broached the subject of Alex, he couldn't get blamed for stirring up trouble with Greg. "Look you know that Alex and I have Kai, we want to try and make our relationship work. Whether it does or not, its worth trying anyway. Alex and I both need to know that we have done everything to try and make our own family work." Ashley admitted with a sure smile.
"I don't know what your intentions were towards Alex, I know you are friends. Just don't go down the road of moving on Alex, we both need to try and make this work. Or when we graduate next year their is going to be a heartbroken toddler." Ashley said to him. "Not that I'm warning you off, thats not my style... I'm just being level with you about it all and hope that you can be friends to all three of us." Ashley said to him.
"So how has your weekend been so far, not that their is much left of it?" he asked changing the subject to something save.

"You weren't alone and that helped you immensely." Greg commented. "It seems rare now a days to have a family be supportive when a person needs it."
Greg took the news with a grain of salt. "The last thing I would want to do is break apart a close knit family unit. Growing up in L.A. I've seen too many fall apart or become dysfunctional over every little thing. I think every child needs the stability in their life." It did hurt to say it but this was time to be mature. "I'd like nothing more than to be friends or else that strange uncle who visits." He smiled.
"Been quiet, except for the dog walking. Oh and helping dad out with the pizza making. How was your weekend?"

Ashley smiled, "Its good to hear, Alex will be happy to hear that to. I know that she considers you a friend, considering everything else going on right now we need all the friends that we have." Ashley said to him he assumed that he knew about his girlfriends father and what the man was trying to do so he didn't expand upon that.
He listened to Greg the dog didn't look that bad but then he had only just met the dog, he would note this for the inevitable day when Kai asked him for a puppy. "We've had a pretty good weekend, picnic on the beach and Kai trying to bury the pair of us... the usual stuff really with him. Probably shouldn't have brought his bucket and spade." Ashley said to him with a grin he checked his watch. "I should get going, I still have a distance to run." Ashley said to him. "You know you should give us a call, we'll do something or just go get some lunch or dinner somewhere." Ashley said he bent down ruffled the fur on the dogs head. "You be sure to behave yourself, no more taking Greg for a walk its meant to be the other way around." he said tapping the dogs nose with an amused look.
"Catch you later Greg." he added before taking off down the road behind Greg.
