Brittany pushed off the ground, heading down the street one her skateboard. She'd spent the afternoon with Evan hanging out with their snakes which was something that was totally fun. Doubly fun really since she'd gotten to see the snakes and she had Evan had spent the afternoon watching bad action movies and eating loads of candy.
But now that Brit had left and was en route home, her stomach growled loudly, coveting some real food. As much as she loved junk food, sometimes her body did crave actual real food. Hmmmm what would she pass on the way. She knew she could of course wait till she got home to eat but it was already getting late and she was pretty sure her mom and step-dad would have already had dinner and she wasn't too keen on left overs.
She continued down the street, he eyes lighting up as she rolled by a Mexican restaurant. Yay fajitas! Done and done! Turning on her skateboard she jumped the curb and skated through the parking lot toward the door.
With her skateboard under her arm she walked inside, ready for deliciousness. It was the type of place where you ordered at a counter then they gave you a number and would bring out your food to your table. Brittany ordered the chicken fajitas along with a plate of nachos since you couldn't eat Mexican food without nachos and then of course a large coke. They gave her the drink at the counter and then a white plastic stand with the number 8 in black print on it.
Since she was alone Brittany went over as sat down at a two person table by the window and sat her number on it. She put her skateboard on the ground under her feet, rolling back and forth on it a bit as she sat. She then pulled out her cellphone to play with while she waited, looking up first as she heard the creak of the door opening and the footsteps of another person walking inside.

Blake had made it back to the town in record time, the idea of an afternoon away with his sister had been a good one. They had driven back and he had dropped her off at home before leaving again. He did not want to see his father and had flashed the birdy sign at the man as he kicked up gravel tearing down the drive way. It didn't need to be said that he was not looking forward to dealing with the man when he went home.
He was hungry, so he had parked the car near a set of restaurants that he knew of... maybe he'd buy some alcohol and go in drunk as a skunk. He knew what kind of reaction that would gain from his old man, it was the kick he was looking to get from his trip.
He stepped into the restaurant and spent ten minutes deciding what he wanted, with the guy behind the counter getting more annoyed by the moment as he chose. Oh what fun, he could ace how to be an ass with people. Maybe he'd right a book, the brat in him had never vacated the building. He finally made his choice and waited to pay for his food. Once he was done he took the bag and coffee in hand. He was headed for the door when he spotted someone who was in his year and he knew vaguely.
He weighed up the options blank her head home and face his father, sit down eat and get plastered on his way home... either decision would annoy his father to some degree. He walked over to the girl with a smile on his face, turning on the charm and hiding the scowl that he almost always wore.
"Hey Brittany right." he said to her.

Brittany watched as Blake walked into the restaurant. He was the same year as her at Gould, so she knew who he was, but to say they had interacted much before was a huge overstatement. In fact, up until Brittany had started dating Evan, he social circle had mostly just consisted of her band and Mallory who was dating someone in her band. So Brittany hadn't always been the most social with her peers. Sure, since Evan she'd grown to talk to many more of the people she'd never really spoken to before, but Blake hadn't really been one of them.
Crossing her legs at her ankles she kind of continued fiddling with her phone and half watched as Blake seemed to get a kick out of annoying the guy at the counter. From what she knew of him, he liked doing thing, getting to people. That wasn't necessarily a bad quality though, or at least Brit didn't think so. After all, she often applied that attitude when interacting with her step-sister, or any of Aly's friends.
By the time Blake finished ordered, Brittany had slouched down a bit in her chair. She was dressed in a pair of black jeans with holes in the knees and a black and white checkered T-shirt. Her shoes were a beat up pair of black converse and her orange and yellow hair was hanging down, just past her shoulders, her overgrown bangs sort of in her eyes.
She wasn't really expecting the other boy to speak to her but wasn't really surprised when he approached her either, given that they did go to school together. "Yep, that is me," she said, placing her cell on the table in front on her. "And you're Blake," she said matter of factly as she sat up slightly in her chair.

Blake smiled, "Yes its Blake, I saw you as I was coming through." Blake commented like he could miss her. "Anyway I thought it rude not to say hello since I recognized you." Blake said, when what he knew was that he was looking for a distraction. In truth he barely recognized the girl, he knew her name and he knew her at passing but that was it.
Blake wasn't sure what to do after this conversation was not his strongest point, he had come over here really to find a distraction. So when he was completely without an idea of what to say next he had to stop himself from tapping his foot on the floor with impatience though whether it was with himself for not thinking quickly or with Brittany for not saying more he didn't know for sure.
"How has your weekend been so far?" he asked cursing privately that it was the best he could.

Brittany nodded when he explained that it was rude not to say hi. Perhaps it would have been, but Brittany had to admit that she hadn't really been planning on saying anything to him had he come over to her first. She pushed a strand of orange hair behind her ear, not completely sure what to say either.
"It was actually really good," she said when she asked how her weekend was. She realized that it was probably just a filler question, a lack of anything better to ask. After all, it wasn't as if she had much to say to a kid she'd never really spoken before to either. "I went to a party on Friday and made these kickass cupcakes," she went on, elaborating mostly for the sake of conversation. "Then yesterday I mostly just hung out and ate food with Evan and then today I hung out with Evan again and we hung out with our snakes. I have these two snakes that stay at his place," she went on. "You like snakes?" she asked.
She leaned toward the table taking a sip of her soda from the straw. She took a few sips and then looked back up at him since he was still standing. "How was you're weekend?" she asked, mostly to be polite since she highly doubted his weekend could have been as awesome as hers. After all, he hadn't had any cupcakes and he didn't have pet snakes.

Blake's head tilted to the side for a moment deciding what to tell her and what not to tell her. Nothing personal, since she brought up snakes he thought the he probably didn't need to be serious with the girl.
"Snakes, that sounds pretty cool, so long as they aren't venemous I have nothing agaisnt them. I'd even say I have a healthy respect for them, but then again you would have to be nuts not to have a healthy amount of respect for snakes." Blake said to her with a smile he parked his but on the edge of the chair rather than standing in front of her. It was a sign that he didn't really wish to dominate the girl, or appear to do so in his body language.
"My sister and I escaped a family event at the house this afternoon, but I did some surfing yesterday. I find it helps clear my mind when I am stressed or I want to knock my father of his pedastal." Blake said in what could almost have been a bit of a snarl. "Usually its a bit of both." he said with a shrug.

"Why would I have pet venomous snakes?" Brittany asked automatically. "I don't think the pet store would sell those to anyone. They are albino though so they're super cool and white instead of red which they usually are," Brittany went on. "It's super cool to hold them, but I don't always like feeding them. I only give them pinky's which are the already dead mice. Even will feed them the live ones, which they like better but only when I'm not there cause I feel bad and want to keep the mice as pets," Brittany explained. She thought that her snakes were the coolest and loved talking about them.
She was sort of surprised when he started to go on about family stuff since she didn't really know him. Brittany had nothing against it, she just usually kept the conversations more general with people she didn't know well since for the most part, she figured they didn't care to hear about it. "Yeah...I like knocking my step-sister off her pedestal," Brittany said. "Which speaking of...I should probably avoid home as much as I can. I got her covered in chocolate and feathers the other day and I'm just waiting for the payback. I think its part of her plan...the waiting, because she knows that I know something is coming," she pointed out.
Brittany stopped talking as someone brought out her food and placed the plate in front of her. She'd been talking a lot...more than normal, but it had mostly been babblings...nothingness. But now he food was here and boy did it look delicious! "Sooooo good," she said smiling after her first bite. "You want any?" she asked, mostly just to be polite. "What did you order?" she then asked since she'd watch the boy take a long time on purpose but hadn't really overheard what he'd finally decided on.
