It took Felipe a little longer than he’d thought to make the trip back home. Probably that was due to the fact that he didn’t exactly hurry. What was the point? He was in no real rush to see LizBeth chatting away with Ben. He made a mental note to thank Eden, though. Without her telling him what had happened he may very well have made even more of a fool out of himself than he had already. He owed her a coffee at school tomorrow... at the very least.
And Ben... What should he do about Ben? Nothing. Liz had used him probably about as much as she’d used Felipe and he could still see the look of awkward shock on the other boy’s face when the shit had struck the fan. He would look for him tomorrow and clear the air.
“I won’t be late, mãe,” he called out.
“But... I thought you had a date, Fe,” his mother called back.
“As did I, mãe,” he murmured before he closed the front door and started to make his way back to the carnival...
Ben and Eden had disappeared by the time he made it back. Not all that much of a surprise all things given. He wandered past a couple of attractions, not honestly sure where to find LizBeth. For all he knew she, too, had gone home.
He checked out the general area where he’d left her... and shrugged. He’d give it an hour and then if he hadn’t run into her by then he’d head back home. A text might not hurt, though. He rummaged for his phone and tapped in a few short words.
‘Did you leave? If not I’m by the carousel. Felipe’
He shoved the phone back into his pockets and crossed over to watch the brightly coloured horses spin round...

Liz had finished her smoke, moving to sit in the divers seat of the car instead of in view. She really didn't want to deal with anyone right now, nor did she want to go home yet. Felipe had promised he would be back, and she believed him.
She'd been laying with her head resting on the back of the seat, her eyes closed. She didn't bother with the radio, choosing to listen to the sounds of the carnival instead. Everyone having fun, she should have been there too, but she'd screwed up, made a mistake..a big one.
A gently vibration from her jeans had her pulling her mobile out and checking it. He was back, and wondering if she had gone home. No she had not. Home was 5,000 miles away. Liz got out of the car and began making her way back toward the carousel, spotting the Brazilian waiting. She approached quietly, her hands stuffed into her pockets, a few tell tale signs left on her cheeks. She'd shed a few tears while in the car, something she had not done since her parents memorial, and here she was, crying over a boy. Her eyes were red, a little swollen and her eyeliner was just slightly smudgy.
"Quid for your thoughts.." She spoke up softly from behind him, wanting to reach out and touch him, but rather sure he didn't want her to.

He stared at the white horse with the pale blue ribbon as it circled the attraction. Its eyes seemed to bore into his each time it passed Felipe. One eye... He could only see its right one. Discompassionate... unemotional. It seemed to bore straight into his soul.
He shivered slightly and tore his gaze from that single orb and he pushed his hands deep into his pockets. He’d wait for a short while longer and then if she didn’t appear he’d...
“Quid for your thoughts...”
Felipe turned to see who had spoken although the crisp accent told him her identity well before he looked down at her.
“To be honest, you really don’t want to know and besides,” he added, “... I have no idea what a quid is and so such a barter would be insanity for me to accept.”
They wandered away from the carousel. “How about we get a warm drink or something? I saw a stall that was selling hot chocolate. Over that way,” he added, gesturing at the stall with a slight upward tilt of his chin.
LizBeth nodded and they headed for the stall, a distance of at least 4 inches between them. A safe distance. “Two chocolates,” please he said to the vendor and he handed one to Liz, steam curling in tendrils from their paper cups. The evening was chilly enough to warrant the luxury... both in temperature as well as in atmosphere.
“So... anywhere you want to see in particular?” he asked. Normalcy. He was striving for a sense of normalcy... and failing in that particular endeavour.

He turned, looking at her with those big brown eyes that Liz could have seen herself melting into. He said she didn't want to know his thoughts, but he was wrong. She did. Liz wanted to know everything he was thinking. How else could she start to fix what she had broken if she didn't know what was on his mind. "I do, and a quid is another term for an English pound...its currancy." she explained quietly, taking a few steps more forward to him.
Felipe offered something warm to drink, suggesting hot chocolate. Liz was tempted to ask if she could make hers Irish, but decided against it right now. "Sure.." She answered with a nod. The distance between them, it burned her, raged through her like a living fire. She created it, and all she wanted to do was to douse it out. "Thank you.." The Brit stated, wrapping her hands around the cup, taking in the sweet, heavenly smell that was the liquid chocolate.
Was there anything particular that she wanted to see? Yes, she wanted him to look at her as he had when she arrived that evening, not look down and away like he was. "No..not really.." She replied, taking a small sip and looking at him before looking away. "Thank you...for coming back.." Liz spoke, kicking a discarded cup out of her foot path. "I know i don't deserve it....I'm sorry I hurt you...I want you..not him, not anyone else..and I know I have no right to even ask you to forgive me for lying to you" Yeah, he might not want to talk about it, but LizBeth was definitely not known for keeping her mouth shut.

Felipe glanced at LizBeth as she expressed her thanks for the drink. “Não é nada,” he replied. “Você é bem-vindo... ah... you’re welcome.” He sipped his own drink as he took a long look around the carnival. In spite of LizBeth stating she wanted to know what he’d been thinking Felipe still wasn’t prepared to tell her.
“I said I would come back,” he reminded her. “I might be angry but my manners still exist.” He wouldn’t abandon her at the carnival alone... Not after having invited her there. She was right in that she didn’t deserve it, though. He would agree to that comment.
He almost smiled. “You are right, LizBeth,” he finally said. “You don’t yet have that right. I take it they have gone?” She nodded. “Ok... “ he replied with a nod of his own. He could easily forgive most things but lying...? That was going to be far harder to accept. “Without honesty there is no trust,” he said in a low voice. “And without trust what is left?” He frowned down into his chocolate drink, annoyed with himself as he’d made his mind up not to talk about what had happened. Not now. Not when he was still close to losing his grasp on his anger.
“Não importa... Let’s check out the rest of the carnival instead.” Assuming they would be able to continue with the evening given the aura that had developed since the arrival of the other boy and his sister.
Felipe hadn’t believed a word of LizBeth’s flimsy excuse of not being sure if Ben was the person she’d been snogging all afternoon or not. Her second lie and she was only digging herself in deeper. Felipe knew she was a girl who always got whatever she wanted and maybe that was why she felt the need to twist facts? That wouldn’t work with him and she’d either come to realise that and stop behaving in that way or carry on as she’d done so far. The former version stood a gnat’s chance of eventually being forgiven. The latter...? He’d walk away from that one without a moment’s hesitation.
“Are you hungry?” Pissed or not he didn’t have a drop of unchivalrous blood in his veins.

How he was treading her right now, not his anger, but the fact that he still came back even if he was furious at her...it made her feel that much worse. She deserved him to leave and never speak to her again.
She nodded as he asked if they were gone. "I tolt hem to leave, I was so close to rippping her skin right off her face." She admitted. "She had no right to tell you like that...she only did it to hurt me..knowing you'd be upset...not because youhad a right to know...adn you did, and I was going to tell you..whether you believe me or not." Liz tried to take a sip of her drink, finding that the usually soothing concoction was doing nothing more then unsettling her already tight stomach. "I want you to trust me.." She really did, Liz would do everything in her ability to make him trust her again.
Green eyes looked over at him for a moment. "I knew exactly who he was when they appeared..I just..I didn't know how to handle it.." She sighed. "I've never been in this position before...the last person I wanted to be with..ended up married to a slag with a horses name..and face." Liz managed to take a small sip of her chocolate. "And it is importnant..you don't have to talk..but I need to." Liz took a deep breath. I.." She started. "I don't let people in, you've seen that. I build walls up aorund myself..cause I know..if I let someone in...if I let myself feel something..they are just gonna go...like my parents did" Liz could kick herself right now for feeling the hot sting of tears behind her eyes. "I don't wanna be alone...and I know I'm gonna end up that way...damnit." She sniffed, feeling one of those tears start to make its way down her cheek. Liz ducked her head away and went to wipe the offending thing away. "You managed to jump right over those walls."

So LizBeth had been mad at Eden... Understandable perhaps. It’d been pretty clear the two girls hadn’t particularly liked each other from the onset. Felipe was grateful regardless. Knowing what had happened had saved him from acute embarrassment. After all, what would he have seemed had he asked LizBeth to the prom as his date, only to find out afterwards he’d been the butt of a joke?
“Actually I am glad she told me,” he said. “Better than later, heh?” He had absolutely no reason what so ever to believe one damned word that spilled out of LizBeth’s mouth...
... and Felipe had a feeling she knew that too.
At least she was admitting to the second of lies lies... Finally.
“Then if you feel the need to talk you have my permission,” he told her with a wry smile. “Just don’t expect me to respond or open up my heart in return... but consider this... You are afraid people will leave you... Perhaps people don’t leave as much as they are forced away... Have you thought about that concept?” After all, he’d done nothing but try and get close to her and she, in turn, had done the exact opposite... even if she hadn’t wanted him to find out!
Then she brought on the tears...
No way was he succumbing to those.
Felipe looked away and stared at a nearby stall. “Apparently,” he said instead, “...we Brazilian are good jumpers.” A flash of humour? Maybe but given his mood, unlikely. “What time are you expected home?” Safer ground. Far safer.

Lid took a seat at a small table, setting her cup down. She wasn't really in the mood to keep walking. She looked at him. "I'm glad you know, but I wish it'd been me that told you. I wanted to tell you in private, not like she did, embarrasing everyone.." Liz had a feeling that honest words were falling on deaf ears. she knew he had no reason to believe anything she said. Srill she kept talking.
"Yes because I really forced my parents away...I was really the one that forced them to take a seperate flight then me that day..I was the pilot that could not handle the storm.." She snapped quietly, pain quite evidant. If her parents were still alive, she wouldn't be here. "I don't know..maybe I do force them away..I probably have this self sabotaging mechanism in place that keeps people from getting close, pushing them away cause I don't wanna get hurt." Liz pushed the cup away from her on the table top.
"Not all, just you." She sighed. This was going nowhere. He was furious with her, wasn't really wanting to hear anything, didn't want to hear her apologies. It was her fault. The one thing she actually wanted in this stupid town, keeping her here..and he hated her.
"Don't know, don't really care...he's not my father..my father is laying somewhere under the Atlantic." Liz finished off the rest of the chocolate in her cup, crumpling it up and throwing it toward a rubbish bin. "Not gona be at school right off anyway, have some stupid dentist appointment." She scowled. "Spencer thought it was be great if I got my wisdom teeth pulled now instead of later...jerk." She muttered.

Tears... They didn’t work with him. Felipe looked at LizBeth with a dispassionate air. She had one shitload to prove to him before he would even consider forgiving her... If that ever happened. One thing was positive - he wasn’t going to get into any discussion about what was right - or wrong - in any given relationship. Hell, if she didn’t know by now...
“Wisdom teeth, eh? Maybe then you might actually be wise,” he commented.
Somehow Felipe doubted that, though.
“So if you have to be up for your appointment early I guess I should walk you back to your car. After all, you surely need an early night.. right? Maybe I will see you at school on Tuesday...,” he added. Right now he wasn’t all that sure if he cared if that happened or not. If nothing else he had tomorrow to seek out Ben and his sister and make amends. None of this had been their fault, after all.
“I will walk you to ypur car,” he stated. And maybe after that he would come back to the fair. Who knows...? He might even run in to Abby....

Whatever Felipe thought about her tears, they were not fake or made up. She sighed, looking at the table, picking at a piece of wood with her nail. Part of her wanted to run screaming back to London, back to the parties and the narcissitic life she had lifed, where not hing really mattered except what she wanted. The other part of her wanted to fight for this, for him.
"Ha..funny.." She muttered, not really happy that he was taking shots at her intelligence. She wasn't stupid, she had just made a bad choice. However, she lacked the willpower to throw a slam right back at him. she rather deserved it anyway.
"I don't really care to be home roght now." Liz told him, shaking her head. "But if this is your way of getting rid of me...then just say it." She stood. "Just up and tell me that you hate me now and I have no chance at redemption...because you know what...yes I screwed up...and you have no idea how honestly sorry I am for hurting you.." She turned. "'Não deixe para amanhã o que você pode fazer hoje'" She spoke the words in perfect Portuguese. "Do not leave all chances for forgiveness for tomorrow if there is not even a small one for tonight.." Liz looked at him. "I'm not asking you to forgive me compeltely right now, I realize I have some work to do in that area..but.." She paused.
After taking a deep breath. "Prom is a few weeks away..and I want you to go with me...I know I hurt you..and I don't expect an answer right now..but I'm asking. If Prom night comes and you have not still been able to look into your heart and forgive me, then I will bot be going. I will not accept anyone else's offer, regardless of who it is. My escort spot is yours if you want it, and it will remain that way even if you can't forgive me." Not going with anyone else...would maybe show Felipe that he could trust her, that she was going to give her word on not going with anyone else. Liz was actually prepared to miss her Junior prom to make him see he could trust her.
