Although yesterday turned out better than Lexi expected, she couldn't stop thinking about the look on Wynn's face. And his song. Okay so maybe she was kidding herself by thinking Wynn could be in love with her. He couldn't be. They had only talked a couple of times it wasn't really possible that he was already in love with her. But it meant he liked her enough to sing about it, right?
So why didn't he ever give any indication before she turned crazy? She wouldn't have had to turn all crazy if he had at least given an indication...but she couldn't deny being with Jay was pretty cool. He had held his end of the bargain to give her the date she won't forget. For the most part, the good parts of the date were pretty unforgettable. But she still couldn't shake of the thought of Wynn. Why?
She decided that she needed some fresh air so she got dressed quickly into a plain tee with jeans and sneakers, pulling her hair up in a messy ponytail before yelling out an "I'm going out!" to whoever was home, exiting the house. Immediately she breathed in the somewhat fresh air before starting to walk out of her neighbourhood.
The walk gave her too much time to think and nothing came out of it except that she was still far too annoyed with herself for creating this stupid situation and annoyed with Wynn for being complicated and with Jay for being so darn charming. It just wasn't fair that it had to happen when she decided enough was enough.
Not concentrating on where she was walking, she accidentally bumped into the last person she wanted to see in her state of mind. "I'm sorry I...W-Wynn..." she staggered backwards out of sheer surprise. Blinking slowly, Lexi tried to calm herself down. What the hell was she supposed to say? What was she supposed to do now?

"Its a nice day, go out and get some sunshine." His mother words echoed in Wynn's head. So out he went to no where in particular.
He packed a small lunch of a ham sandwich on rye bread, baby carrots and a thermos of sweetened iced tea with lemon. He was about to sit down when someone bumped into him.
He was used to it at school, but not the voice he heard with it. "L--Lexi, I uhh..." he scratched his head really unsure what to say or do at the moment.
He dropped his things on the bench beside him for the moment. A flood of emotions were coming over him. Part of him wanted to just yell at her for doing what she did, another wanted to hold her close and just act like nothing had happened.
But something had happened.
"So umm you alone today or do I need to cover my face from Barbie's boy toy?"

When he first opened his mouth, Lexi was so ready to apologise and beg for his forgiveness. Words even started rushing through her head, expressing how sorry she was for the stupidity she had shown last night but the stream got cut short with his next words that were sharp and hostile. She could see the hurt and disappointment in his face but the anger was what she stubbornly concentrated on.
Frowning, Lexi was about to turn heel and walk back home, suddenly so eager to get away from Wynn who might call her on something bad that she was without even realising it was true. Just like what he did to Jay last night at the carnival. With her hard frown still intact, she straightened herself up. "You had no right to go off on Jay like that last night." She started, her voice cold and hard.
"He had been nice to me from the moment he picked me up right until he sent me home but you threw that drink on him and then sang that song and...why did you do that Wynn?" She asked exasperatedly. The question was a general one for she didn't know if she was really asking about the song or about Wynn throwing the drink.

"I bet he was the perfect gentleman. Holding the door for you and everything." Wynn shot back. "That was a facade, there is only one thing on his mind." Crossing his arms over his chest. "It's guys like him that give the others a bad name."
"The number of times I've been pushed inside a locker, had drinks thrown on me for no reason then I saw you two and I had it." He blinked several times to keep his eyes from over flowing.
"I...I care about you Lexi, you made me feel like a somebody the other day when I felt like a nothing. I don't want to see you get hurt." He ran a hand through his hair. "That's the honest to god truth, believe it or not."

Wynn's words cut deep. She was pretty sure he was saying it out of spite but she still didn't know why. "You can't put all of them in one boat. I mean Wynn come on...not all them are jerks and not all of them care about only one thing," Lexi wasn't entirely sure why she was being so defensive of Jay but she suddenly didn't want anybody thinking that he was a class A jerk all the time because he really wasn't!
She could see he was struggling to keep himself tear free and Lexi was even more wounded when she saw that. "Why would you..." She started to ask but Wynn answered even before she could finish. She hadn't realised she had impacted him in any way. She had just been out to be friendly to a guy who looked like he needed it. Biting her lower lip, Lexi sat beside Wynn and placed her hand on top of his.
"Wynn...I'm not going to get hurt." She said, more to prove it to herself than to Wynn. "I can take care of myself." This time, her voice was barely a whisper. "But please...you have to give Jay a chance if not the other guys. At least Jay. You don't know him..."

"Why not, they put guys like me in the same boat, along with the anchor and anything else they can to make it sink. Name me one jock or popular person that's even shown a hint of niceness towards nerds."
He cast his eyes downward. His hand twitched slightly as Lexi placed her hand on his. He listened to her quietly. "Can you honestly say that? How long have you known him? How long before he wants more?" He swallowed the lump in his throat. "I've just been pushed around long enough to not want to give him a chance, I'd rather it end before anything bad happens."
"Besides I think you could do better."

Not knowing what would come of it, she mentioned the first name that popped into her head. "Haley Rowan." She said immediately. Haley was friendly enough to her, saying hi to her sometimes and actually getting a smile and a response. "There's also Ella D'Agustino. Colby Jergens." She wanted to continue with the list but she thought she gave the perfect examples and it was enough.
His question made her sigh. How could anyone be sure? Lexi had thought Wynn was incapable of doing something drastic but he threw a slushie in Jay's face! Granted, Lexi didn't know how long Wynn had repressed these feelings or kept it from bubbling over. She sighed once more before letting go of his hand. "I don't see anybody else knocking down my door." She knew she sounded pathetic and desperate but Wynn didn't know anything about Mew. She didn't know anything about Wynn's predicament with Haley and Julia either so...they were at a loss, both of them.
"I don't know what else to say, Wynn. I want you to feel better but not at the expense of my happiness and I am happy now, Wynn. I thought you would understand." She said quietly, looking down at her hands.

Wynn's head slowly turned toward Lexi with a disproving look. "Sure, the girl who picked a different nerd over me. She doesn't count." He wasn't sure who the other two were but maybe they would be worth checking out.
"So you went for the first salesman who came calling? That's just careless." He pulled himself back. "Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a parent." He felt hurt when she pulled her hand away. "I thought after the troubles I had with Haley and Julia, thing would iron out. Guess I was wrong about everything."
"But are you really happy? Deep down happy? Or is it just because someone higher up is paying attention to you?"

Lexi's mouth fell open at Wynn's words. He had liked Haley Rowan? Of course they're both in Silver and Haley's so pretty and...nice and popular. Which made Lexi kill all her thoughts about Wynn ever liking her in that way. No way no how. Which made what Wynn did yesterday all the more confusing.
His next words bit into her like a knife. She could feel the back of her eyes burn. "You don't sound like a parent, Wynn. You're being hurtful. And bitter." She wanted to continue but he continued on to say something that much more hurtful which caused her to tear up.
"I should go..." Lexi choked as she got up from the bench. She wanted to hurt something preferrably Wynn but right then she was too hurt by his words. How he could say something like that to her, she didn't quite understand but he already said it and she knew he meant every word of it.
Wiping away her tears, she didn't even glance back at Wynn before walking off.

"I sound this way because its how I'm feeling!" Wynn snapped back. He could feel his lower lip start to quiver. He turned his head away from her.
"Just...just go." He felt his nose start to run slightly. He wiped his nose on the back of his hand, what appetite he had was now down the drain.
He watched her walk away, maybe this was for the better. He started to get up with lunch in tow when he saw a homeless man. He handed his lunch to him, "Here, I'm not so hungry anymore."
