Dressed in a pair of short pink cheerleader shorts and a tight white tank top, her long blonde hair was in a very high ponytail as she walked into the gym. Shelby was a girl who worked out fairly often. After all, when she wasn't busy with cheerleadering practice or being the most popular girl in the freshman class, she had to keep herself looking good. And she did that well with her constant shopping--after all, having the newest trendiest clothes was a must--mani/pedis at least once a week, and then of course keeping herself in shape at the gym. And given it was Sunday, it was the perfect day to hit the gym. After all, she didn't need to be seen anywhere today so it seemed like the perfect choice. She headed straight for the elliptical machine which was her favorite, glad that there was one empty. Shelby hated waiting for her machine. She got on to it and plopped the latest issue of Vogue to read through as she worked out and proceeded working out on the machine for the next 30 minutes or so before she hopped off. With her magazine in hand she looked to see what else was open. Tag Any

Xavier was busy giving the punching bag a work out. He had to admit he looked hot today in a form fitting black muscle shirt with matching shorts. He gave a few more jabs when a girl in pink shorts and white shirt went by.
He grinned and started to head toward her when the punching bag swung toward him knocking him off balance slightly.
"Stupid bag!" He muttered and if anyone listened carefully, they could swear the bag was snickering at him.
He let out a whistle as he approached her. He smirked, "Well looks like a certain blond just couldn't get enough of me." He teased her upper arms with his fingers. "I could give you a better work out than any of these machines could."

Shelby stopped dead when she heard his voice. Now, Shelby was naturally, very into herself, so she loved it when other people were just as into her. She really didn't mind when boys said rude things to her that had to do with sex because she wanted boys to want her, especially old ones. Maybe she didn't have the experience with it all that she liked to pretend to have, but it didn't mean that she didn't want the attention.
Turned on her heel she found herself face to face with Xavier Goodwin, or face to chest really, since he was considerably taller than her. She let out a audible groan. "Oh, it's you," she said, keeping her voice flat. Did Shelby really mind Xavier? No, she was sort of flattered when someone paid attention to her, even when it was someone she didn't particularly like. It was more that...the other girls minded Xavier. When a guy gets pepper sprayed by a fellow cheerleader, well, it just was not cool. And Shelby wanted to be cool above all else. Plus, she still had Tyler, who she'd made out with at Haley's party. Shelby of course was still holding that in much higher regard than what it really had been.
"What...are you stalking me now or something?" Shelby said giving the older boy a look as she cocked out one hip and placed her hand on it.

Xavier slapped his hand to his chest and acted as if he had been shot down. "Me? Stalking? Not likely, unless you want me to." He grinned cockily. "Besides I was here before you, one might think you were stalking me."
"I wouldn't blame you of course, being a mere child you just wanted to get a glimpse of what a real man looked like." He knew that would push a few buttons, one way or another.
"Sure they can "claim" to be rich and good looking but I can actually prove it for myself." Part of which was true, technically the money he had was family money.
"But then I suppose at your young age, you want to see whats out there, maybe try and get a sample or two. I can't blame you for that, we all do it. I just happen to have found my comfort zone right away."

"We're you?" Shelby asked. "If you noticed that, obviously you were the one stalking," Shelby pointed out, ignoring the comment about her wanting him to stalker. Well, of course Shelby wanted people stalking her. As long as people were paying attention to her, Shelby was happy. Good, bad, and everything in-between, any attention was good attention as far as Shelby was concerned. Attention equaled popularity and popularity was Shelby's main goal.
"Popular and good looking means nothing if everyone hates you," Shelby said with a smirk. Sure, Shelby was still loving the attention, but at the same time she knew how all the cheerleaders acted toward him and to her anything the older cheerleaders said was pretty much the law. Shelby had one end goal and that was to rule the school some day. She wasn't going to do anything to mess that up.
"Really? Maybe I am young, I can't really deny that, but I'm still way more mature than you are," she quipped, still with her hand on her hip. Shelby was a spunky one. She locked her eyes with him, letting him know that she wasn't messing around. Shelby didn't really joke. She had way too much stake in everything she had set into place. She'd already kissed up to all the right people and it was only a matter of months really until she was a full blown sophomore, which mean she wasn't just minced meat anymore. Once she was a sophomore she'd have some clout. Not much but some. And she wasn't about to screw it up with the likes of him, even if she still did totally enjoy the attention.

"But see, I'd have to know your schedule, and I don't. However Sundays have always been my workout days therefore you're the one stalking me." There was odd logic thinking. "But its cool with me, just don't stick a dead rabbit in a pot or anything."
"Not everybody hates me, my mother still loves me." He teased her in return. "What happened at the gym the other day, as I said, was her reaction to all this greatness. It overwhelmed her and she sprayed me to try and defend herself from it. Plain and simple."
"Mature? Really? Most mature people would have turned and walked away by now. I think you actually like this, getting to be all grown up and everything." Xavier thought for a moment. "I bet you can't even hold your alochol. I could probably drink you under the table."
What girl couldn't resist a challenge?

"How do you know Sunday's aren't my gym days," Shelby quipped. "I just usually come early, and will keep in mind to continue doing that to avoid you," she said giving him a icy look. She added an, "Ew," when he mentioned the dead rabbit. "Why does it not surprise me that you came up with something gross like that," she said shaking her head. "Please don't tell me I should be watching out for that, because ew! Just ew!" she said, getting squeamish at even the idea of a dead animal. Now, Shelby had no problem eating say a steak, but actually seeing the animal all dead and yucky, was definitely not her style.
"Oh, you're mother," Shelby mocked. "I really wouldn't go around bragging about that. I mean, who knew you were a total mommy's boy. Does she pick out your clothes for you too?" Shelby mocked, her voice turning into a bit of a baby talk voice as she teased him. "Reaction to your greatness...did you're mom tell you that one too?" Shelby smirked. She was killing it with the comebacks and was very proud of herself. After all, she needed practice doing this so she'd never falter once she ruled the school. It really was a good thing that she'd gotten in with the popular crowd so early, it was like a stepping stone to greatness.
"Oh trust me, I would have walked away if I didn't have to defend myself from your crazy accusations," Shelby said, although this was where she began to falter because she sort of knew he was right. If she had been more mature she would have walked away. And she hated being called immature or when people pointed out how young she was. It was probably her biggest pet peeve. She glared at him, her hand still on her hip. "Oh, I can hold my liquor, don't you worry about that," Shelby said, challenging him right back. This was of course complete bull. Aside from the glass of champagne and half a glass of wine she'd had the other night at Haley's party, Shelby had never had a drop of liquor on her tongue before. But Shelby was a girl who liked to talk big and she wasn't going to let him know she was all talk.

"I've been coming here for months and I don't remember seeing you here before, therefore you must be following me." The dual was on! "Hey, don't ew me, I'm only quoting a movie." He raised a finger. "And I would never harm an innocent creature like that and in that style."
"Better a mommy's boy than daddy's spoiled princess. Having a temper tantrum when I can't have my way." He puckered his lips and gave the baby talk back to her. He had to admit Shelby was fun to toy with. "Nah, I hear about my greatness all the time."
"Accuse you? Of what? Stalking me? Please, I'm flattered you wanted to." He rolled his eyes and smirked. "I'm up for that challenge, tell you what, I'll take you out tonight. No strings attached, and we'll see who is carrying who home."

"Yeah, I'm following you, right," Shelby said, her tone overly sarcastic as she rolled her eyes. She found the sparring actually kind of fun, which was something she'd never admit of course, but no one else was around so she figured she could indulge a bit in the wittiness of their conversation. "Well, it is good to hear that you're not into killing animals...maybe its a miracle and you're not completely creepy," she told him, her tone was still persnickety.
"Who said I'm Daddy's Princess?" Shelby asked. "You don't know anything about me. While you've already admitted to being a Mama's boy," she pointed out. Sure, she got along with her father better than her other siblings, as she did know how to butter him up a bit, but she wouldn't really consider their relationship all that close.
Shelby paused when he challenged her and asked her out for that night. Of course she knew that she couldn't go. What if anyone from school saw her? It was one thing if someone caught her talking to Xavier at the gym, but he'd been deemed a pest by the other cheerleaders so she couldn't be seen out on the town with him. But there was something tempting about getting to drink...and go out somewhere and do so... "I don't have a fake id," Shelby said. "Figure away around that and you're on," she challenged him right back.

"You know, you're cute when you roll your eyes like that. Its like some demented puppet or something." He taunted her right back. "If I were completely creepy I would have done more physical movements by now."
"It's written all over your face, daddy's girls always have that holier than thou attitude but then turn on the charm when daddy comes along or when they want something. You aren't the first and you won't be the last."
"Tell you what, I know a place they won't card you as long as we show up together. I promise to be a gentleman and I won't lay a hand on you." He gently pinched her cheek. "What do you say?"
