Lily usually wasn't one for the beach. She didn't mind the beach of course, she just preferred the snow. No to mention the whole swimsuit thing that she wasn't entirely comfortable with. Lily actually had a quite nice body, but due to all the snowboarding and exercise she just tended to be more muscular that most girls and given that she was already so short, she just felt bigger than other girls her size. Which, she was, just not in the bad way she saw it.
But despite this, and despite the cloudy/cool weather, Lily sat on the sand wearing a pair of long jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. After all, it wasn't beach whether anyway. Of course, Lily had no business being there...in fact, later on that day she'd head to the indoor half pipe for some private training, since her parents had rented it out for most of the day, something they did fairly often. But for now, Lily just sat there, calm and complacent, taking it all in.
It was only yesterday that she'd been to this very same stretch of beach, learning how to surf with Haden Kiley. She hadn't been nearly as good as he'd been, but she hadn't been bad for a mostly beginner either. She'd stood up on a wave or two...not big ones but still. Not that she cared too much about the actual surfing...it had been fun and all, but she'd been more enamored with Haden.
Lily usually wasn't a girl who had crushes, mostly because she avoided boys that she didn't know through her sport. But there Haden had been...being so nice, flirting. Lily had fallen fast and hard, although she'd never ever admit it, convinced that someone like him would never like her in that way anyway. It was in that moment of thought that someone plopped down next to her on the sand, startling her into a small jump. She looked over to see who had decided to join her on this gray morning.
