Wynn's attitude today was beyond sour, even lemons were puckering up when they saw him. At least he had his job at the comic store, there he could be himself and not change for someone. He had enough with girls from Haley dumping him to Julia getting all huffy with him and now to top it off Lexi was close to one of the popular guys at school. That cut it!
He entered the store to a few "hey's". This made him feel a little better...just a little though. Once he was set and clocked in his boss came over with a stack of paper work for him. "Sorry to do this Wynn but we need to do ripple on the books. To make things easier though, I won't have you run the register." He handed the papers to Wynn.
"Thanks." Came a muttered reply as the boss walked away. Wynn grabbed the scanner and started to loot thorough the boxes marking off the books as he found them, then scanning the book so it was out of the system.
The task was a tedious one but like the boss said it had to be done. It was a good way though to tune out the world with his own music at least until a shadow was standing over him.
He took the ear buds out but didn't turn around. "You had better have a mint Oreo blizzard in your hand, otherwise I will be royally peeved!"

She really needed to get out of the house. Sawyer had way too much energy to be cooped up and she was about to annoy the hell out of her sister who was finally back from college. So after getting some money from her dad and taking her bicycle out of the shed, she sped across her neighbourhood for a bit before deciding to get something to eat when her stomach grumbled.
The money her dad gave was enough for a pretzel, a soda and dessert and after she got her pretzel, she decided not to get soda only to spring for some awesome dessert instead. She got crazy with her strawberry sherbet, asking for minty bits of chocolate and some bite size cookies and by the time she was finished with her order, the guy behind the counter had a really pissed off look and her cup was filled to the brim with toppings and Sawyer left with a huge grin on her face.
Deciding to walk around the pavillion instead of getting her bike, she found the comic book store she knew Wynn Sumner worked at. No she didn't stalk him but she liked to know random things about people even before they knew her name and she'd always seen Wynn around school so she had asked around. Okay, so maybe it was stalking but she didn't exclusively do it to him. She did it to everyone!
Walking in, she hummed a song that had been stuck in her head ever since she saw the videoclip on TV. It was a stupidly catchy song and when she saw Wynn, bent over some paperwork, she creeped up behind him and was about to scare him when he started speaking and he already sounded royally peeved. She wasn't sure if Wynn actually knew of her existence so she was about to back away and never speak to him again but looking into her cup, she grinned when she saw that the cookies she procured were indeed Oreos, even if it wasn't exactly the mint Oreo blizzard Wynn had expected.
"I've got Oreos." She piped out, her raspy voice even more prominent in the quiet store.

Not expecting to hear a voice, Wynn turn and flopped on his butt. He looked around, even on either side of the girl. "Okay I don't remember rubbing a magic lamp to summon a genie." He said still puzzled by the girl's appearance.
He moved to a kneeling position and looked in the cup she had, yes there were Oreos! "I was actually joking about the blizzard but since you were nice enough to bring me one, even though its not mint." He laughed. The distraction was welcomed.
"So, do I get to know your name or should I call you the mysterious ice cream lady?"

When Wynn dropped on the floor, Sawyer's mouth dropped slightly before she started to giggle as she helped him up. What he said in response was even funnier so she laughed loudly, much to the dismay of the patrons of the store. She lowered her voice and giggled with a finger pressed up to her lips in a shushing gesture. "I'm not a genie silly." Sawyer grinned as he looked into her cup with a grin.
"You want one?" she asked, pushing the cup towards him as he laughed. "It's not a mint Oreo blizzard but it's pretty good anyway. It's got like...strawberry sherbet with some Maltesers and Oreos and nuts and sprinkles. It's pretty decent for a pricey dessert," she shrugged. When he asked for her name, she grinned and poked his shoulder. "That sounds enticing but I'm Sawyer. We kinda go to school together. But it's okay if you don't know me. I mean you're a junior and I'm a freshman. We really don't actually meet that much in school anyway so yeah, you not knowing my name is kind of warranted don't you think?" She ended with a little gasp and took a few breaths.
"Sawyer Lee James, if you want to be technical." She added as an afterthought.

Well, I mean you appeared out of no where with a portion of my request. How else would you explain it?" He grinned. Her laughter was infectious.
"Don't mind if I do." Wynn replied. He took a small scoop, not wanting to take the whole thing from her. "This isn't that bad, fruity and sweet, its a good combo."
He nodded as she explained where she knew him. "I must be famous then if you were able to track me down." He waited as she stated her name.
"That's a mouthful, let me see if I can simple it." He thought for a moment. "Sawyer is like that scruffy guy on 'Lost' that won't work, but Lee James. How about calling you LJ?"

Mulling the question over, Sawyer laughed before answering the question he had posed even if it was a rhetorical question. "I dunno! I just had a crazy craving for a strawberry sherbet and saw your shop! I didn't appear outta nowhere! Or maybe you wished for me and you didn't know." Sawyer nudged Wynn, wriggling her eyebrows. "How bout it, stud. You wish for me or something?" It didn't take even half a second for Sawyer to burst out laughing again. She was so silly! Why would Wynn even think of wishing for her?
Sawyer looked pleased when Wynn seemed to like the combination she had thrown together. "Right? The dude who put this together was so frustrated with me for some reason. He should name this like...Storm in a Cup or something. Or the Sawyer Cup! Hey, that's not a bad idea.." Her words trailed as she went into brainstorming mode. She got distracted by Wynn's words and she snapped to attention. "Well yeah! You're pretty famous around school. Like. The other day I heard one of the girls from Gould mentioning your name and giggling. I think they like you." She grinned as she took a scoop of her ice cream.
"Aww...I had the name first!" She protested with a glint in her eye. "LJ? You wanna call me ledge?" She laughed slightly and shrugged. "Okay, LJ it is." Nodding, she sat on the floor cross legged. "What are you doing?"

"Course too, I saw a shadow looming over me, the ice cream was a wild guess." Wynn admitted to Sawyer. He bit his lower lip, he didn't want to say he hadn't wished for her. "Let's just say you could read my mind." Hopefully that would suffice.
"The Sawyer cup, I'll remember that next time. I want to see the guy's face when I start making the requests for what I want in it." He laughed. The laugh soon faded to a grimace. "Me? Famous? Probably for get shoved inside lockers all the time. Probably watching me on You Tube trying to squeeze my way out." He didn't want this to ruin the day, maybe it was time to get back to work.
"LJ is easier to remember." He grinned once again. "I have to ripple this list. We get so many in from publishers and if they don't sell after a certain time, we have to send back a certain number. Like here," he pointed out. "This Captain America we had 20 of since January when it first came out now we have to pull 17 copies and keep 3 of them, then I scan each title into the computer before boxing them up and prepping them to ship out. Confused yet?"

Not sensing how uncomfortable Wynn was, Sawyer laughed at Wynn's words. "Wouldn't that be awesome? Then I can hear what people think about me. Like Emily Winnicky. She's this evil sixth grader when I was still in middle school who you think is a really nice person but she will stab you in the back the moment you turn your back on her. Then I can totally creep her out and probably like I dunno...make her be nicer or something."
"We should totally go back there!" she brightened up. Her cup was flying all over the place as she made wide gestures with her arms. "I can hide behind the bushes and then you can order the exact same thing without him knowing that I'm there! It would be hilarious!" she laughed loudly. Again she was silenced by mysterious voices from beyond the bookshelves behind her.
The revelation that Wynn gets shoved in lockers was a new one for Sawyer. "You get shoved in lockers? You know what you should do? Shove them right back in one." She said determinedly. "Oh my God. Now I know what my resolution before school finishes is!" She went into full babbling mode as she made plans to call Roxy to tell her what they should do before school closes and before graduation. She would be so into it, it would be awesome!
She stopped when he started explaining what he was doing. "Jeez...for being called something as cool as ripple, you'd think the work would be like...cool." She said, not entirely confused. She didn't want to admit that she had a thing against numbers and he said a lot of numbers. Numbers and words should never mix. There was a reason why Math and English are two separate classes. "Not confused...just...oh man my ice cream is melting." Getting completely sidetracked by the runny consistence of white and red in her cup, she looked up at Wynn with a sheepish grin.
"I want more ice cream. When do you get your break?" she asked innocently.

"You know maybe karma has finally gotten back to her. That's if you believe in that sort of thing." After the pains he had gone through, he hoped karma was real.
Wynn liked the idea actually. Even though his would involve the ice cream staying inside the cup instead of flying all over like a roller coaster. "You know though, he might get suspicious after how many other people would do the same combo? I'd rather eat ice cream not wear it!"
"Oh its not like I meet the door with my face. I mean I get pushed inside them then the door closes. I couldn't possibly do that to any of the guys on the football team. I have the build of a scarecrow, not a brick wall."
"This all boils down to basic addition and subtraction. This can be intimidating the first time you do it."
"My break?" He checked his watch. "Probably not for another hour or so." An idea had come to him. "Be right back."
He went up and bought a big box of M&M's. "I know its not ice cream but maybe this will hold for awhile." He offered some to LJ.

"Karma? Like...what goes around comes around?" Sawyer finished her ice cream and dumped it in the trash can nearby, sucking on one finger that caught a bit of the strawberry sauce. "I don't think I believe it but I do know people get retribution some way or other." She nodded as she sat back down on the floor cross-legged. She giggled at Wynn's reply to her idea.
"They deserve it," Sawyer wriggled an eyebrow at Wynn. "Trust me...one person against a football team won't work but I have a plan and it involves certain people who might be even bigger than the jocks combined. They won't even see it coming," she rubbed her hands together and gave a wicked laugh as she saw her plan start to formulate in her mind. Roxy was going to flip!
"Dude, it can be intimidating the second, third, fourth and all the other times that follow the first time doing it. Me and Math...not a good combo." She laughed, shaking her head in amusement. After being told of his break, she got a bit disappointed. When he disappeared and came back with a box of M&M's however, she perked up and reached her hand out. "Gimmie!!" she stretched out the last syllable with a grin.
Getting some chocolate, she picked out the red, blue and yellow ones and handed them back to Wynn, not realising that it was a weird thing to do. She happily crunched away at the brown ones, shamelessly asking for more when she was done. "Hope I'm not bothering you or nothing. If you have a date later, I'm so totally not gonna bother you." She looked up at Wynn.
