Breakfast as a family...Alex tag Ash

Alex was actually quite excited. This to her was the first official date as a family. Sure she had yet to go out with Ashley alone, but she didn't want to until her father left town. Alex was afraid if either she or Ashley did not have Kai then her father would do something. Besides she still wanted to spend as much time with Kai as possible and she did not mind one bit having him with her and Ashely.

Alex was at her house. Her father was no where in sight. Hopefully he would leave with out a fight and that would be the end of that. This was the last day, supposedly the dead line date according to her father, but she had made her wishes known all ready that she wished him to leave and never come back.

Alex was waiting for Ashley to pick her up. She was wearing a white skirt with purple flowers that settled mid thigh, and a shirt with short sleeves that was purple and had a picture of Big Ben on it. She was English and was proud of London after all. Alex waited, glad to have the morning and afternoon free to spend with Ashley and Kai. Of course there was a possibility Ashley did not bring Kai, but Alex would have to wait for him to pick her up before she knew.

Alex was ready about five minutes before Ashely was suppose to arrive and of course that meant she felt the need to possibly change her outfit. She knew she should not be nervous, but she was.

Ashley was surprised at how happy he was as he got Kai into the car, even his parents were surprised by his own choices in recent days. Not that they weren't happy for him, nor were they unhappy that he was willing to try and make he and Alex and Kai into a family unit. It really was worth trying to make work, or it would drive them both up the wall when it came to college choices. No doubt both of them would have very different ideas about where they would rather go.

The drive to the house with the help of sat nav thank god he had taken that option when he had brought the car, he'd probably get lost otherwise. He knew the town pretty well but that didn't mean he knew every street and back road to get to where he needed to get.

Kai's playing in the back of the car amused him every time he pulled up at a set of lights. It still amazed him that his baby boy was two years old and loud as they came, he'd pay good money at times for some quiet time in the car but he loved the little sod all the same. Hopefully he would tire himself out before the end of the day and they'd get a quiet night without a running around toddler high on sugar.

They pulled up outside the house that he hoped was the address that Alex gave him, "Hey buddy we are here, you ready to go." Ashley said as he turned the engine off and opened his door to get out. Kai was already squirming as he opened the back door. "Hey their champ slow down, I'll get you out of the car in time." Ashley said as he undid the seat buckle and pulled Kai out of the car putting him on the ground. "Wait there mister, we'll go up to the house together." Ashley said as he shut the doors to the car and locked it. "You want to walk or you want me to carry you up there?" he asked him.

"Walk." the boy replied.

"Okay but be careful." Ashley replied as they headed up towards the house. Finally at the door he rung the doorbell and stood back with a smile on his face, he hadn't thought to bring flowers or something like that, just getting out of the house was the job of the day with a child who wanted to bring his entire war chest of toys with them.

Alex decided against changing her outfit and stayed with the white and purple flowered skirt and the Big Ben shirt. Besides it was a little too late when she heard the door bell. Ashley was right on time. That brought a smile to Alex's face. She picked up her purse and headed for the door. No one was home, but her Aunt knew she was going out for breakfast. Her father no where to be seen, so it was a good day so far.

Alex pulled open the door and before she had a chance to say hi she was engulfed in a hug and very loud, "Mummy." Alex smiled and leaned down to get a better hug from Kai, "You look very nice this morning." She smiled and ruffled his hair. Then she stood back up and eyed Ashley, "I now see where Kai gets his good looks from." She said smiling and leaning up to give Ashley a kiss.

"Good morning." She said softly after breaking the kiss. Then Alex turned and closed the door to lock it. "Once we return we may go inside and relax a little. My aunt will be away for the entire day, so the house will be ours." She said as Kai gave a loud, "Yay." Alex just laughed.

"Someone is very excited." She coo'd. Alex was truly happy and thankful for this second chance. Her heart was still beating fast right now. Just seeing Ashley, kissing him, and having Kai around made her feel so much better. She made the right choice and she now knew what she wanted.

Ashley smiled at Alex kissing her lightly on the lips, "He hasn't stopped all morning, no seriously he woke me up this morning by landing on top of me. That little guy has some serious weight to him when he wants to get you to do something. Like I don't know wake up." Ashley admitted with a smile. "He was more interested in seeing you than eating breakfast or taking a bath this morning, I think its safe to say that he has entered the terrible two's or if not he will soon." Ashley added. "Okay mister back to the car." he said.

He looked at Alex with an amused expression, "He has really been looking forward to seeing you, thus why he is a bundle of energy this morning. But seriously you've been pretty tight lipped about what we are doing today, as your designated driver I kind of need to know where we are headed. Unless of course you have your drivers permit, and you want to drive us so you can keep us both guessing." Ashley said to her with a smile pulling his car keys from his pocket and unlocking the car again.

"I'm sure what ever you have planned for us all will be good, I cleared my oh so busy schedule of nothing for the weekend. So you have us both for as long as you can put up with us both." Ashley told her.

"Kai you silly boy." Kai just laughed and nodded his head. "Any idea what we may be in for when he does being these terrible two's. You American's and your sayings." Alex joked. She use to say that all the time when Ashley and she had dated before. It was just a funny joke between them. "I am excited to see Kai too, and you. I am happy you have come. I have a lovely day planned." Alex teased as she smiled at Ashley. "Oh I almost forgot. Excuse ne for a brief moment." Alex turned back and opened the door. She returned a few seconds later. "We cannot for get this now can we."

Alex smiled and took a hold of Ashley's hand for the short walk to the car, "I will always want you and Kai around. Seeing you both makes me excited. Our plans have to do with this lovely basket. But I will not subject you to my abillity to drive. Remember when you attempted to teach me after you received your permit. I did not do a very good job. I seem to remember you shouting bloody hell a few times." And he was not even English.

"I had planned a nice picnic on the beach. I know it rained yesterday but I am homing the sand will be dry. Then a walk to the carnival I hear is by the peir. I thought we could end the evening here. Watch a movie, have some of the popcorn you love. Since you said I have you for the whole day. I want to spend every minute I can." Alex helped put Kai in his car seat. He was kicking and yelling, "yay, yay, yay" Alex just smiled and looked at Ashley, "That's our little boy." She reached up and pulled Ashley into a hug, "Thank you."

Ashley looked at their son, "Legs down kiddo so we can get you locked into place." Ashley said to him when he was still yaying Ashley showed his irritation. "Kai calm it." he growled slightly which seemed to have the effect he needed to get the buckle done up. "See you can get a little frustrated with him when he doesn't want to calm down." Ashley said to Alex with a shake of the head as he stepped back for Alex to close the door since she happened to be by the door. "I usually don't have to ask him more than once to do something, anyway sorry you had to see that." Ashley said.

It wouldn't be the last time that he lost his cool with Kai, that said it annoyed him when he did, because he never wanted to lose it with Kai. It just kind of happened when it did. "Okay so picnic on the beach it should be dry with any luck. If not then we shall find somewhere better suited to a picnic given the weather yesterday. But what you suggested is perfect." Ashley said to her with a smile on his face. "Anyway lets get this show on the road before he gets into the drivers seat and decides to drive himself, you'd be amazed at how tall he is, he can probably reach the pedals." Ashley added.

"All I saw was a father being a father. Its not the fun part of the job, but it must be done. If were were not disciplined or told to do something in a firm tone, then kids would be spoiled rotten. He is lucky to have you. I have seen fathers hurt their kids over less then being excited about a picnic." Alex closed the door. "It might not be the nice part, believe me, I hate telling Kai no, or to sit down and I am sure you have done it more then I have. But Kai listened, and thats important." To Alex the fact Kai listened showed Alex that at he age of two Kai knew who was in charge. Of course Alex had a feeling her son would be challenging that a lot like most kids did.

"I have the basket and a blanket inside, so that may help. If not, I am sure you could find a nice romantic spot for the three of us. I just hope Kai sits down to eat. he might try and play all day." Alex said smiling as she got into the passenger side. She eyed Ashley as she buckled her seat belt. "He has grown since I arrive. Last week he was like to my mid thigh and now he seems to be at my hip." Not quite, but Kai was growing. "He is going to be tall like his father." She smirked. Alex looked back at Kai and smiled since he had a big smile on his face. She was a lucky girl. She had what she wanted now. Ashley back and Kai not rejecting her.
