It all started when he got high.
Gray grabbed on to the pole in the double decker bus as it backed out of traffic and swerved dangerously into the very narrow alley in between two brick buildings. The country was Singapore and he was an Irish assassin and his mode of transportation seemed so unlikely. It was a double decker bus. And no one else was in it. Except for him and the driver who looked like a middle aged Chinese woman with a dark chin bob and eyebrow length fringe.
Her head raised and her big brown eyes met his through the rearview mirror and she grinned. "You're late," she said in a clear English accent. Gray raised an eyebrow and let the pole go when the bus steadied itself. He took out the gun that had been comfortably resting against his thigh and aimed it at her. Without a word, he released a shot which went straight through her, causing a ripple in her holographic image before it disappeared completely. The bus still drove on even without a driver.
When the bus swerved again, Gray was thrown back to a window, banging the back of his head hard on the glass. It didn't faze him as he pushed himself forward to the door and slammed on the button on top of the door to open it. Without thinking, he jumped out with his gun cradled in his arm with the safety fortunately on before tucking and rolling roughly against the concrete. He picked himself up almost instantly and started running in the direction of a cafe where he saw two burly men sipping coffee. He pocketed his gun and jumped benches and ducked under low growing trees and slipped into the chair that held the two burly men sipping coffee.
"I thought the Irish were known for their punctuality." Burly man number one grunted. "Piss off you old bugger," Gray growled in his heavy accent. He turned to burly man number two. "Nice touch with the hologram. Can I just get my target and leave now?" He sneered at burly man number one in disdain. He did not much like BMNO and he didn't mind showing it. As he was passed the long brown envelope across the table, BMNT asked if Gray wanted some coffee. "Negative on that. I need to keep on moving." He grabbed the envelope and looked at the target. Dark brown eyes, long and flowing dark brown hair, a shapely body and...no.
"You're joking. You're absolutely joking me." He breathed out, showing emotion for the first time in his ten year career. "I am not going to kill my own..."
"Oh Shepherd...I'm sorry was that feelings?" BMNO chuckled derisively.
"You are not asking me to kill this woman. What the hell has she done?" Gray chucked the photo on to the table.
"You fell in love with her, Gray. She made you weak. She has to pay!" BMNT hissed.
Gray was dumbstruck. BMNT sounded like a whining baby. "You're a freaking assassin! You're Irish! You're a freaking Irish assassin and you still got soft! You have a freaking cool job as an Irish assassin and you want to throw it away for a woman!"
"She's not just any woman. You know how she looks like!" Gray rapped his knuckle on the picture on the table. "She's an amazing woman. She-"
"She's the only one who made you weak enough to do this." A voice all too familiar to Gray rang through his mind and jarred him completely. He wasn't able to move as the cold round steel tip of the 9 milimeter silencer poked in the side of his head.
The girl from the picture came to life in the stunning form clad in a leather mini skirt and a form-fitting shirt. Gray's wife stood with a smirk on her face as she nodded to the two burly men in recognition before clicking the safety off on her silencer. "You forgot, Gray. All pretty girls are assassins."
Waking up, Gray laughed out loud. "Holy crap...I need to get high more often."
