"Attention, United Flight 345 from Denver to Los Angeles is now arriving at gate 13." The calm male voice announced over the intercom system. Colby looked up from his coffee and crossword that he was working on, even though it was a lost cause.
He got on the train to the gate where he waited for his cousin June to arrive. Last time the two had seen each other they were around 8 years old and full of mischief.
Colby watched the passengers exit the plane. The handicapped first, followed by the elderly, then came everyone else. He checked his phone there was a text from his mother.
"Moving van here, get June registered."
He nodded as if the phone knew what he was doing.
Finally he saw her coming up the ramp, dressed in a bright yellow jacket, a navy blue shirt and pants and flat shoes with sunglasses that made her look like a bee.
"Hey Junie!" He said to her as if her were coming on to her. A flurry of hair whipped towards him followed be a shriek of happiness.
"COLBY!!!" She hugged her cousin tightly, almost like a child holding a teddy bear. "It's good to see you again!"
He grinned. "Good to see you too kiddo. Its been a long time."
"Sure has," she looked him up and down. "God you've gotten tall! I feel dwarfed next to you!" She laughed.
The two headed to the luggage claim. "Mom just sent me a text to say the moving van arrived at the house and I'm to get you registered at school. We'll be on time for lunch." He paused for a moment. "And you can meet my fiance."
"You what?? Congrats!! I want to sing at the wedding! You have my full support!" She was now more determined to make sure her stay here was going to be memorable.
The arrived at the baggage claim where they elbowed their way between the crowd to get her bags. She had one plus her carryon. Once they had them, the two headed out.
"Well, Juney, you ready for life in L.A.?" Colby asked her helping her into the car.
"Only if its ready for me!"
