Things were progressing nicely. Sure it had only been a few days but everything was going great. Alex had seen Kai and Ashley just yesterday afternoon. Her son seemed so happy, it warmed her heart. She dreaded the say she would have to explain her actions. Her father was due to leave Saturday afternoon and Alex would not be on the flight. No matter how he planned to drag her there and Alex was sure he had some plan. She would not leave again. This time Alex was prepared to fight (non violently of course) to stay here with Kai and Ashley.
Alex had spent so much time with Kai that her school work had been sorely neglected and now she must play catch up. Luckily she was down to math, probably her worst subject besides history. "Why do we need these equations anyway? They don't bloody make any sense." Alex said to none in particular, "Am I holding the book upside down?" She turned the book around and that was just a stupid move.
For someone who was intelligent Alex was struggling with a few classes. Not that she couldn't pull off decent grades but right now she might as well be learning Russian cause math was a foreign language. At least this math was. Normally she could get by, but right now all she saw were numbers, letters and huge word problems. "Oh this is ridiculous." Alex huffed and closed the math book. Alex was sitting in an empty classroom. She pushed the book and it made a loud BAM as it fell on the floor...that's when she heard a noise from the door and looked up. Had the person been watching the whole time. "The book was beating me...so I showed it whose boss."

Greg was walking down the hall when he passed a classroom and heard a voice. He leaned in the doorway and saw Alex sitting there struggling with her homework. He grinned having been in her shoes.
Greg started to enter the class room as the book hit the floor with a loud slam. "I think you showed it a thing or two." He laughed as he picked up the book before sitting next to her. "Is there anything I can do to help you?" He wasn't a great tutor but it was always best to offer help when a person could.
"The first thing is that you have to be smarter than the book." He opened the book. "Now show me where you were and what was giving you the most trouble."
He knew there was more than math giving her trouble. Having met her father, he was a force to be reckoned with. Greg would do what he could to make sure she was happy, as long as it was legal.
He didn't know though about her and Ashley. That would be another thing to work through and it had to be given time.

"Gregory." Alex smiled as she perked up. She looked at the book. "I refuse to lose to something that cannot talk back." She smiled as he took a seat. Alex felt a little bad. Sure she had a crush on Greg. Its not like he liked her back, but she felt sort of bad. Except she was happy too. Happy to be back with Ashley. Happy to have her second chance. "I believe they are called equations of sorts. Solving for x or y within big word problems. See back in London my biggest hardship was finding a way out of my fencing class. I do not understand why I must know math or history here."
Perhaps that was the private school way and this was the public school way. As for history, she understood why that was important. She still did not like it. Kany help would be much appreciated. Or else I may throw this bloody book into the nearest garbage receptical." Alex said with a sheepish grin. "You have been missing for a few days. Were you away?" She wondered.
Alex looked down at the book and opened it to the respectable page. She pointed out the problems, "To me this is all a foreign language and I speak four of them." Alex said shaking her head. "How have you been lately?" Alex asked him before he could begin to expplain any math to her, "And Yes I am stalling." She smirked.

"Ahh yes the famous story problems that give everyone trouble." Greg looked at the problem and started to note the key parts of the problem.
"The first part is to just focus on the main part of the problem." He started writing things down. "This is like a logic problem." He worked through the problem slowly until the end. "Therefor x equals 6." He explained as best as he could but he'd do more to help a friend.
"its weird but you'll find math comes in handy when you least expect it. Now for history, since I wasn't there I usually don't pay attention to it." He laughed.
"Yeah we had to head out of town for a few days. One of my grandmother's passed away. So we were gone for the funeral and packing up the house. It was hard but she went in peace." There was a sound of sentiment in his voice. Her words though got him. "Ok lets quit stalling, let see if you can figure out the next problem."

"Sorry to hear about your grandmother, Luv. That must be so horrible to have to go to. In England a funeral I am sure is way different then here in America. For one you seem to show more emotion." Although there was crying in England but sometimes people seemed way too calm. Or perhaps that was just among her family." Alex felt for Greg, to suffer the loss of a family member. However Alex could not be sure how close Greg was to his grandmother but from the look on his face she would gather it was very close.
"You are a slave driver." Alex commented with a smile as she began to work on another word problem. "This is what I do not understand, why give me three numbers when I only need two of them. You Americans make everything so much more complicated." Alex snorted. It was half a joke and half serious. "Does x equal 5?" Alex hoped so if not she was a lost cause.
"I understand why we must know history, but it s quite boring and what is with all these dates to have to remember. I can tell you about events, but for some reason the teacher wants us to know the dates instead. I guess they must be relevant, but I find what actually happened to be more relevant then when." That was just the way Alex saw thing, "I promise I am smarter then I seem." She said with a smirk.
