Anthony Bridgerton was not a very patient man. He was use to getting what he wanted and when he wanted it. His whole life had been like that. He was the heir, the next in line for his families title. Granted Titles meant nothing more then more money,a good image and respect, but that meant a lot to Anthony, and when someone threatened that respect and image, Anthony was not happy. Whether it was one of his children or not.
Anthony had done a lot to take back the image his father had tarnished. His father had been a drunkard, who loved to play the tables. Not Anthony, he had his eye on the prize and that prize was mingling with the Aristocracy and taking their money with pleasure. Anthony convinced them to invest in the business he had running. Anthony was nothing more then a con man. He found a way to live the expensive life. He could take straw and turn it into gold. It was a gift.
The Aristocracy were stupid and perfect for the con. It had been successful thus far. As long as his image was not tarnished. He had to seem like a savvy man, who was in control of all aspects of his life. Anthony was the man on top and no one crossed him. Once you shook his hand you were locked into a business deal. So Anthony did not tolerate rebellion or defiance. The only people who knew about his illegal dealing in both the UK and the US were his family. How could they not, with secret meetings and all the comings and goings. It was not hard to figure out what he was doing, especially when it came to Alexandra...his daughter...a woman with the smarts to match his own.
Alexandra could not only strike a deal, but charm her way into everyone's good graces and that was valuable. Of course Anthony was good with manipulating his own family, without them knowing it. So of course Alexandra had no idea why Anthony had used her, but it was all fine and working nicely...until that damned boy came into the picture. Not only did he knock his daughter up, but he was the reason and the person to blame behind Alexandra's new found backbone. Anthony had her...he had Alex back in the UK after the birth of her bastard child and now she escaped. Coming back to America to be a mother. She was a stupid idiot for a child.
Anthony could not stand for this. She was a Bridgerton and belong in the UK while her bastard and the bastards father stayed in America. That's why Anthony was here. He arrived on March 1st and now it was March 5th. His patients were wearing thin. It might have only be a few days, but he was getting sick of playing this game. It was time to put a stop to this and force Alex home even if it meant physically dragging her.
So he waited, in her Aunt's house until Alexandra came home. Of course Anthony did not travel alone. He had for lack of a better word goons with him. Now Anthony was not a murder so get that thought out of your head, he used intimidation and threats to get what he wanted.
Alex came home from a long day at school. She was ready to just relax. She had no work, which was nice for once. Alex closed the door and walked inside. She turned to go into the kitchen to grab a drink and put her book bag down. Then headed to the living room to find her father and two men with him sitting down. Alex smirked. "If this is the part where you threaten me once more, then blow it out your bloody rear end. I am not going anywhere and you will not force me." Alex said with cold eyes.
See Alex was a threat to Anthony. She had information that could bring Anthony crashing down, so she had to be put back on her leash. Sure this was a harsh way for a father to treat a daughter, but Anthony had never been a paternal man. He cared more about money, respect and image to worry about his children. Someone had to be the villain.
Anthony smiled at Alexandra and took a step toward her. "I have learned my lesson, when it comes to dealing with you Alexandra. I have learned that threatening you is no good. You have grown a back bone, and are too stubborn. You remind me of myself if I am to be honest. " Anthony took another step eyeing Alexandra, "So I must be more drastic. An ultimatum...which should not be a hard choice...the US or the UK?"
Alex laughed, "You really asking, the US, easily."
Anthony nodded his head, "Wrong choice."
"But you gave me a choice."
"Yes I did and you made the wrong one. You have until Saturday this afternoon this weekend. There is a plane ticket in your name. You better have your ass on that plane."
Alex laughed again and rolled her eyes. "Go to bloody hell."
Anthony then motioned for one of the guys to hold his daughter and had her against the wall. The mans hand grasping the base of her neck, enough to get the point across. "Listen to me little girl. I will not have my daughter openly defying me. Since threats against you do notwork, let me threaten someone else. Have your ass on that plane, or I swear your child will not live around to see his third birthday, and that father of his...well I hope he is not too attached to you or the child, cause once I am done I promise you will be his number one enemy. "
Alex had tears coming down her eyes, "You would never kill an innocent child."
"Who said anything about murder. I simply know that children are kidnapped all the time, and never returned. Desperate times call for desperate measures. You and every other Bridgerton are essential to keep around. Never forget that."
Alex scoffed, "Right we have to seem like the perfect little family for your stupid scam..."
The hand tightened around the neck, making it harder for Alex to breath. "Think before you speak. You have until Saturday. Your child....or your freedom...easy choice right."
With that said Anthony motioned it was time to leave. His daughter was left sliding to the ground crying. When had her father become so cruel and heartless. Did Alex have only one choice to make?
Alex was sick of this life. For seventeen years she had to deal with this manipulation and intimidation. She did have another choice. To fight. To end this battle with her father for once and for all, which could only be done if her father was in jail. But did Alex had the ability to go up against her father and win. For the sake of her son and Ashley, she had no choice. It was time her father's dirty dealings found there way into the right hands.
