The past couple of days had been strange. It had all started Friday really...her date with Cole had been, well, great. And then Saturday...freaking out about Cole she'd gone right back to Jett. It was like some sort of crazy routine. And then Jett's mother had died. Eden had spent a lot of her Sunday over at their place but it had been weird...somber. Everything was still being arranged...her mom was heading back in town. Her mom had always been close with Ms. Chen.
Eden pushed her long blonde hair behind her ears as she headed down the hall. She was dressed in a pair of skinny jeans with a long racerback tank, a black studded vest, and boots. She had an array of necklaces on and some bracelets too. She looked good and she knew it, but as she headed down the hall toward the lunch room, she saw Jett, standing at his locker, like a zombie or something. Maybe it was his mom...maybe he was just tired. Eden didn't know, but all she knew was that she had to say something...and their conversation on Saturday kept playing over and over again in her mind...how Jett had mentioned the way she had looked...different...the way she used to. And she wasn't like that now...would he care? Did it even matter if he did?
Eden let out a sigh and walked over to him. She couldn't exactly just walk by him without saying anything...not after everything they'd been through. She walked over and leaned against the locker adjacent to his and folded her arms under her chest, standing there and looking over at him casually. "Hey...how's it going?" she asked kind of vaguely, not really sure what to say.

Jett had not even thought about much since his mother died. Thats all the consumed his thoughts. It was like a mirage was flashing before his eyes every time he thought about it. His life, and his mother's life passed before him. It was a hard reality check. His mother was gone and she spent more time off some where then at home. When Jett and Izzy had been younger their mom would whisk them away as well. Until they got to middle school, then it got harder and harder. Since then his mother had been there, and not at the same time.
It was hard. Jett had wished he had been there But he had not seen his mom this time. Jett had left to go see Eden before his mother got home, so technically the last time Jett saw his mother had been a while ago. Now Jett and Izzy were having this weird fight, or argument....it was just weird. Jett was trying to help his sister, but she did not seem to want it. Izzy's father was in town and all Jett wanted was to help Izzy actually get to know her dad. Jett would love to be in her shoes.
He turned around as he heard a familiar voice pull him from his thoughts. Jett offered a weak smile. "Still in denial...is that an option." He said with a small laugh. "I don't know...it's hard. Izzy is acting weird....her dad is in town and she refuses to face him...and the funeral is Friday..I feel like this is not my life or something...it hasn't hit me I guess. Or maybe I don't want it to. If that makes sense."

No joking...no witty banter...what was going on? Oh right...his mom died. She supposed she shouldn't have been surprised there...it was a big deal...she'd just never seen Jett like this before. And it wasn't exactly what she'd call fun. "Yeah...Izzy's been distant..." Eden admitted, "I was hoping that she was at least talking to you," she said. It was news to hear that Izzy's dad was in town though. She hadn't heard that. And she wasn't exactly surprised that Izzy didn't want to face him but she didn't really say that either.
She nodded when he said that it hadn't processed it all yet. She wasn't really sure what to say. She wasn't exactly good at the whole comforting thing. It was easy to comfort Ben if he was ever upset, which rarely happened anyway. It was even easy to comfort Izzy...at least when she was talking to her. But Jett...that was completely new territory. Territory that she'd never thought she'd be. Normally, she'd leave the cheering up of Jett to Ben, but given that she was sort of sleeping with him and that she'd sort of been with him when he'd found out about his mom...she felt like it was her responsibility to do something.
"Is there...anything I can like...do?" she asked, hesitating slightly. She felt pretty awkward.

"Yeah your not the only one she is being distant from. Izzy not really talking to anyone. Every time I ask her she changes the subject or makes up an excuse to leave." Jett shrugged. He hated it. "I think she is still in shock. She is acting as if its all okay. That death happens, and Mom has moved on...I don't know.." He admitted. "I don;t know anything anymore." He sighed and closed his eyes a moment. Jett was normally a happy go lucky guy, but right now he was a tired guy.
The Eden asked if there was anything she could do and Jett laughed a little and smiled. "How about sympathy sex?" He winked and laughed some more. "Hey you walked right into that one." He told her. It kind of felt good to let that out for a moment. The normal witty retort and banter. He could not help it. With Eden it was natural and right now thats what he needed.
"But really...you wanna help...you are doing it...just being here. Maybe you could try talking to Iz...or maybe Ben could. Not sure it would help." He told her. Jett eyed Eden for a moment. He was actually glad she was here. He needed someone to lean on and as much as he liked Ben. Eden was softer. The thought made him laugh. Actually Jett was not sure how to act around Ben, he was afraid the guy would find out Jett had slept with his sister....for real...

"Yeah...I figured I'd just give her time. Every time I've asked her how she was she says fine...and I asked her to hang out and stuff, figuring I could maybe take her mind off things, but she was vague. I guess she's spending a lot of time with that Taki guy though. I guess if he's helping her..." Eden said trailing off with a shrug. She was really worried about her best friend but what was she supposed to do? It wasn't as if she could tie her up and force her to hang out and talk about her feelings... Somehow in this crazy situation, it was easier to talk to Jett. That was something she'd never had guessed.
Eden smirked when Jett suggested sympathy sex. It was as if he was back...even if it was only for a moment. "Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you," she teased back. She wished she could keep it going. As much as she hated his teasing sometimes, now she was clinging to the normalcy of it. They never had had a chance to have sex on Saturday...
But then he started to get mopey again, telling her she was helping by being there. She was glad she was helping, she just hated the depressing nature of it all. His mom had died--she knew that--she couldn't ignore it, as much as she wanted to pretend everything was fine...just like Izzy was. "Any time," she assured, patting him gently on the shoulder. "What are you doing for lunch?" she asked. "You gonna head off campus or are you going to try your luck in the cafeteria?" She supposed she'd stick around, have lunch with Jett...if he wanted her too that is. If she couldn't help the female Chen, perhaps she could at least comfort this one.

"The guy is alright. You met him I think she finds comfort in the fact Taki does not know our mother. You know what she was like, and I think Izzy is afraid of that. She is holding onto something and she won't face it. I know my sister, she is not fine. Her father is in town, a man she hasn't seen in years and her mother died, she is not fine." Jett could easily comment on Izzy's problems. They were not his. Jett was just sad. He missed his mom. She might never have been around, but when she was, she was a decent mom.
"You think I am that sad I would try my luck in the cafeteria. Really. I do not want to hurt myself." Jett commented with a little laugh, "Off campus it is. We have time for the good ole fast food tradition before the next bell." He motioned for Eden to join. It was weird talking about feelings and stuff with Eden. He was sleeping with her, it was just sex for them. No emotion, but that was a lie. There was something there. What was it? Jett had no clue. But it was more then sex, just not sure what more was.
Now was not the time for him to really think. Although for some reason he could not focus on that. "I was not kidding about the sex." He winked. Jett left campus and checked his watch to make sure he would be back to school in time, "So as much as I enjoy talking about me...what is going on with you...." He asked. For now trying to change the subject. Do anything to almost feel normal again.

"Yeah...I know that Izzy is not fine," Eden agreed. "But what am I supposed to do? Disagree with her?" she asked. She honestly didn't know. "Maybe she'll talk to Ben. Ben says you're not really talking to him but obviously you're talking to me, and Izzy won't really talk to me, so maybe she'll talk to Ben," she said. Of course it didn't really occur to her that there might be more than one reason that Jett didn't really want to talk to Ben...her being the main reason. However, for now, the logic made sense to her.
Eden giggled when he said he wasn't sad enough to eat in the caf and nodded when he invited her to join, heading down the hall with him. She rolled her eyes when he told her that he wasn't kidding about the sex. "Sex and fast food...looks like you're yourself again," she teased. Even the teasing was comforting. Although really, Jett was still too sober to be completely himself. But just seeing the small bits of normal Jett creep up, made Eden hope that he was himself again soon. She hated seeing him sad. She hated seeing Izzy sad too, but somehow under these crazy circumstances, it was easier to cheer Jett up at the moment.
"What's going on with me...not much. My parents are both heading back in town...they both haven't been in the same place at the same time since...well, the last award show, but even then they avoided each other when there wasn't a camera," she pointed out. Eden's parents were of course both coming to town for the funeral but Eden didn't mention this. She thought it was self-explanatory.
---- Ben headed down the hall, heading toward the caf. No, he wasn't attempting the inedible cafeteria food. He'd packed a lunch today. He figured he'd stop by Jett's locker to see if he wanted to hang out, only Jett seemed to be gone already. Ben shrugged, figuring he'd catch up with his friend another time, but that's when he saw it. All the way down the hall, Jett and Eden walking together...and they weren't fighting...they were leaving together.... What in the world was going on? Ben wasn't sure...but he had to find Izzy and talk to her...like NOW.
Wrapped for Ben--Tag for Wrap, Wrapped? Eden/Jett???
