Jin managed to get into the bathroom with just enough time for his routine, thanks to his sister’s overlong shower. The worst was that there was not enough hot water and he had to rinse his long thick hair in cool water which did not put him in the best of moods when he sat down to breakfast. His mother insisted on a traditional Japanese breakfast as well which he was not fond of. He had discovered a fondness for American cereal and he wanted that. He tried not to be picky and cause problems, but he was rather fond of having things his own way, which he would admit. He ignored the small bowls of rice, pickles, seaweed and other accoutrements to get his own larger bowl which he filled with Captain Crunch with Crunch berries and milk. He took it with his mug of tea out to the patio where he sat to watch the waves as he ate and doodled. His sister became a cat girl to her delight and he became a bespectacled Manga hero, brandishing a sharpened pencil to save her from a dragon rising from the sea.
Jin groaned as he noticed the time and rushed through his cereal before returning to his room to finish getting ready. He added an elegant tie to his dapper suit and then slipped on his black trench coat, securing it so it wouldn’t interfere with riding his ten-speed to school. He checked his new back pack for necessities and then headed off to school, racing against Aiko with whoops and bright laughter. They swooped onto campus along with a flock of starlings and argued as to the winner as they locked up their bicycles and then walked into the school together and headed to the office to register.
