Evan was actually oddly glad it was only Tuesday, still a long way off to the weekend. After the weekend he had, which thankfully ended well, even after everything bad that happened, he wasn’t in a rush to have another weekend. And Monday had actually been fun, for a Monday anyway. He loved Frisbee, he loved anything that gave him a chance to run around, be noisy and act like an idiot. But Frisbee was mad fun, and it was good to catch up with his friends. More than made up for missing out on bowling on Sunday. Though, eating candy, watching movies, and more than light making out with Brit on Sunday night already achieved that. As did that fact that by end of the weekend, Brit was still his girlfriend. Even after the stupid stuff involving Syn and Hannah. Really, he did stupid stuff a lot. So that meant Brit had to be awesome to put up with him. He should remember to buy her something, maybe more peanut butter candy, he decided, as he woke up half in bed and half on the floor, surrounded by candy wrappers, his alarm blaring.
After a quick shower and scavenge around his room for clean clothes (which came up with a pair of jeans and a Of Montreal t-shirt he thought he only wore once), and a mouthful of pop tarts, he was all set and on his way to school. He completely forgot about his hair, but, then again, he wasn’t a girl, and bed hair was in these days, wasn’t it?
Pulling up in the parking lot, he immediately jumped out of his car, hearing that very familiar rumble in his stomach. He needed food, and quickly. Luckily for him, he saw a familiar face nearby, eating. And that’s what friends did, right, they shared. “Hey!” Evan greeted cheerily, jogging up to the person. “Gonna eat all that?”

Christophe had spent the previous evening - and a fair bit of the night - learning all he could about the local aquarium and its whales in preperation for his interview the following day. As such he awoke late and knew he'd have to cut a few corners - proverbial as well as literal - if he hoped to stand a chance of arriving at school on time.
"Take this with you, cheri!" his mama called out and she handed him a packet of... god knew what as he didn't have time to examine it right now. "At least this way you'll have something for breakfast!"
Christophe dropped a kiss on his mother's forehead, grabbed his jacket and bolted for the door.
"Your pack! Christophe!"
He threw her a wry grin as he darted back to grab his books...
* * *
He arrived at the school with a good fifteen minutes in hand. More than enough time to catch his breath and eat whatever it was his mother had handed him. A bagel and some fruit, along with a slice of toast (cold, of course by now, but that wouldn't bother him) and a chunk of brie. A veritable feast.
“Hey!”
Christophe glanced up and smiled when he saw who had spoken.
“Gonna eat all that?”
His smile took on a wry tone. "It would seem not," he replied, shifting over a little to give Evan room on the bench. He tore the bagel in half and handed it to his friend. "You seem to be running even more late than me," he commented and he made a grab for the brie before Evan could snag it. He could have the apple.

“Thanks, that’s a pal.” Evan grinned cheerily as Christophe made room for him on the bench, getting ready to split his breakfast. The food looked suspiciously healthy, he was certain he saw colours, so he was a little hesitant. Not the good kind of breakfast colour, like in Fruit Loops, but the bad kind of breakfast colour in the food that stole that delicious cereal’s name, fruit. But, he was hungry, so he couldn’t really be picky. Besides, he wasn’t one to knock back food when it was offered. He would eat almost anything. Even things that weren’t strictly in any of the five food groups. Who was he to discriminate against something that wanted to be eaten?
He took the half a bagel gratefully, and half of that portion was gone in the next five seconds. He managed to swallow it hastily before laughing at Christophe’s comment, nodding. “Yeah. I have kind of a bad habit of sleeping in. I can’t help it, my bed is just nice and warm, and it misses me when I’m gone. So I feel really bad leaving it.” he explained in earnest. “Besides, it’s better to be late. I mean, who really wants to get to school early? That’s just stupid. And I...” he paused to shove the rest of the bagel in his mouth, swallowing it just as quickly as the first half, “Am very smart. Really.” It took about two seconds after making this claim before he cracked up. “But no seriously, I’ll never get to school early. So sometimes that leaves me hungry. So it’s lucky I’ve got an awesome friend to give me some awesome bagel. And I might be sucking up a bit, but only cause I wanna stay in your good books in case I ever need to steal your food again.” he smirked.
Evan noticed the bagel sharer in question move something away, and being, well, him, he was naturally curious about just what it was that Christophe had. He watched his hand in interest, leaning over just a little to see what it was. Cheese. And not the big block cheese he was used to seeing in his fridge, or the cheese that was already cut up in little shreds, but funny looking cheese. That probably smelt weird too. If it wasn’t on pizza, he wasn’t generally interested, so he moved away again, content to not have a bite of the possibly odd smelling cheese.
There looked to be fruit, something that looked kinda applish left, but Evan didn’t make a grab for it. That would be rude after all. He would just sneak glances at it until it was offered. That was a much more polite way to go about things. “So how you going Christophe? Whatcha been getting up to lately?”

Christophe was still working on his half of the bagel. He never ate quickly and liked to savour his food. It didn't bother him in the slightest, though, that evan was the complete opposite. The variety in life was what made it all so interesting.
"Funny you should ask," he replied, setting the last bit of his bagel down... but well clear of Evan's reach. "I managed to get myself not one but maybe two jobs yesterday. I have an interview after school for the second one."
He went on to tell Evan about working at the small boatyard and being paid by having the use of a boat in return. "And that is fantastic as it finally means I can get back out on the sea but the other one... I met a girl called Genny... Do you know her? Anyway, she is a friend of Llyria and told me about a position at the aquarium... Working with orcas!"
Even didn't look quite so excited.
"Orcas... Killer whales," he tried again. "Only my favourite animal in the entire world." It was impossibly hard to contain his excitement and Christophe knew he would have to control that once he turned up fior that interview. "So there you have it... My day yesterday. What about you? Has anything amazing happened to you since we last saw each other on Saturday?"

“Two jobs? Wow. That’s like, a lot of work. I mean, congrats mate!” Evan laughed, pleased for Christophe, but not envious in the slightest. He wasn’t afraid of hard work, well, not too afraid of it, but still, two jobs AND school, that would eat up into a lot of free time. And he didn’t have nearly enough as it is, he had his friends, and his girlfriend, and his movies, and his stupid stuff. One job was more than enough for him, and he only did a few shift in that a week. It did help that the job was at the movies, it did let him sneak in some movie watching when he could. And the money he made helped him buy a lot of DVDs and candy.
Working on a boat (I’m on boat! I’m on a boat!) would be pretty cool though, not as cool as working at a cinema, but still, pretty cool. The name Genny sounded familiar, but he couldn’t quite picture a face to go with the name so he shook his head when asked if he knew her, thinking that was a safe bet.
Orcas. He really wanted to know what they were, but he didn’t. He was just glad that Christophe explained before he had to ask. “Ha! Like in Free Willy! That’s really mad then! Congrats again. It’s a cool fave animal. I don’t know if I can pick a fave. I like dragons. Do dragons count? Oh, and what about ligers? You know, part lion, part tigers. They’re pretty cool too. Oh, centaurs! They’re also mad. Um..where were we?” he chuckled, scratching at his head, his eyes once more slanting towards the food that was left.
“Since Saturday? Let’s see...” Evan started. “Well, Brit and I almost broke up. But then her evil step-sister got up back together, which was weird, but good, ya know? Then we got some ice cream. Uh, on Sunday, I went bowling. Well, I didn’t get to go bowling in the end, but it was good still. There were people dressed up in sweet costumes, not me, but I did have on my bowling shirt. There was this girl who was hitting on me, at least, I thought she might have been after Brit got angry at me for it. And before that, her friend Ian punched me twice, see, black eyes.” he pointed out in his version of show and tell. “But they’re fading now, so that’s good. You might have seen that bit, well, the fight after, I knocked Ian down, it was mad, you were there right? And then me and Brit almost broke up again, but I told her I was stupid and I fixed things. Then we ate some candy and watched some movies. I did the same again yesterday. The candy and movies, not getting punched. I think I’ll be happy to not get punched again. So, yep, pretty quiet weekend.” he decided.
Evan stretched out his legs in front of him, yawning despite the fact that he only woke up about half an hour ago. Talking and eating was exhausting work. “So you’re like dating Llyria?”

"Exactly like Free Willy," Christophe replied on a laugh. "I'm not sure dragons count because they aren't real. Well, I suppose some lizards could be called dragons soooo... ok, you can have them as your favourite." Christophe threw Evan a grin as he spoke and he quickly finished off the remains of his half bagel when he noticed that Evan had spotted it. "I'm not sure I have ever seen a liger..." Centaurs wasn't a word he'd encountered before and so opted not to mention them.
Christophe nibble the brie as he listened to Evan's recap of his weekend. It was hard to keep up as Evan spoke so fast. add to that the fact that Christophe found American accents a little hard to grasp and he ended up nodding and inserting the odd 'I see' from time to time.... "Yes I was there. I saw the fight. It looked... interesting," the French boy answered with another grin. "You call all of that a quiet weekend? I would hate to accompany you on a hectic one I would think as I doubt my energy levels would allow me to keep pace!"
Christophe similarly lounged back, breakfast having vanished. "Dating? Llyria?" Christophe thought about that. "I'm not honestly sure. I mean we've been out twice. Once for a meal and then bowling but not sure if that counts as dating. I'm a bit older than her and she probably prefers to have a boyfriend of her own age. I guess we haven't really talked about it." Perhaps that should be remedied - and sooner rather than later. "To be honest, I'm not even sure she wants to limit herself to just the one boy. She is very pretty and so surely has others asking to take her out..." Christophe shrugged. "So to answer your question, Evan... I am not sure what we are doing."
The first bell rang out and interrupted them. "I don't know that I can be bothered to go inside," confided Christophe. "It's nice out here..." But he knew they had little choice and that the second - and last - bell would ring out all too quickly. "Come on," he added in resignation. "Walk with me to my locker... I think I have some candy in there."

“Ok, cool! Dragons are my favourite then!” Evan decided with a laugh, thinking it was a shame they weren’t real. He really would like one as a pet, it would be mad fun to ride. Pets....pets....”Snakes!” he yelled out, loud enough that he got the attention of anyone sitting remotely close. “Snakes are totally my favourite. Me and Brit have a couple, Bonnie and Clyde, they’re the albino kind, you know, all white. We keep them in this clear cage in my room, it’s pretty sweet. I feed them mice, they like live ones the best, but mum doesn’t like me keeping them around the house, so if I get them any, I have to feed them straight away. The dead ones are easier, I keep them in the freezer. Mum doesn’t know that though, I don’t think she would like that. I feed them, Brit can’t, she doesn’t like it. But it doesn’t bother me, it’s kinda cool to watch.” He took a breath after this. For about two seconds. “I can draw you one sometime, a liger. It looks sweet!”
“It was quiet!” Evan quickly defended. “There would have to be at least two fights for it not to be quiet. But it does get tiring sometimes.” he decided. “But I have to stay really busy. Otherwise I get bored. And trust me, you don’t want me getting bored. It ends up with me doing stupid stuff. Well, more stupid than normal.” he corrected. “Which is why I eat all the sugar I do. It’s good for me.”
“I’m really not sure either.” Evan teased playfully. “Well, if that’s what you think she wants, like dating more than one, what do you want? Do you want to date her? If you do, you should just ask her out. You know, bite the bullet. It worked for me with Brit, and we’ve been dating ages! Well, not ages, but a while. And it’s been awesome. Plus, we even have snakes now, so that’s pretty serious.” he decided. “Just ask her. Go on, do it.” he laughed.
“Me either.” Evan groaned, planning on sticking to his guns and staying where he was. It wouldn’t matter if he stalled a little, he could always run to class, he was sure he could make it in time. But then Christophe said the C word, having him scramble to his feet. “Sure thing. I mean, we don’t want to be late now.” The bright grin on his face made it obvious that avoiding tardiness wasn’t the motivation for his speed. He grabbed his bag, hoisting it onto his shoulder. Then saw something that made his jaw drop. “Is that a car on the flagpole over there? That’s awesome!”

It was starting to get seriously hard to keep up with Evan's side of their conversation as he was talking faster and faster with each passing second. Christophe began to have deep misgivings about giving him the promised candy but he had a feeling - a correct one - that Evan wasn't about to forego the sweet treat. They started to head towards the main entrance when Evan ground to a halt, pointing at a nearby flagpole.
"A car? Surely not..." Christophe began but his eyes widened in completele surprise as he watched the somewhat frantic activity at the foot of the pole as the car a group of people tried to get to the car. Christophe murmured an astonished few words in French and his eyes widened even more. "How in god's name did it even get up there in the first place?" he asked - rhetorically, of course, as Evan surely wouldn't be able to provide that answer.
He glanced back at his very amused friend who was clapping enthusiastically. "Perhaps we will be able to find out what happened from the other students. Patch maybe." Patch, after all, was almost as bad - good? - as Evan when it came to playing pranks.
"Candy," he stated firmly and with a tug on Evan's sleeve he half dragged the other boy inside the building with Evan stumbling after him, eyes locked on the bizarre scene outside. It didn't pay to be late... Not with the principal so hot on tardiness recently.
"Here," he said as he handed the Hershey's bar to Evan. "Just don't eat it all at once..." Then again, Evan's first class would be hysterical if he did eat it all now...

“I don’t know man.” Evan muttered, partly in awe as he stared at the car, along with every other passer-by. It was genius, just genius, and he wished he knew what happened. It was a prank obviously, a brilliant prank, and he was immediately very jealous. Extremely so. He wished he had thought of something that cool, he was dying to know who did. And of course, he and Patch couldn’t let this ‘challenge’ go unnoticed. They had to top it, and soon. They were the best prankers in the school, they couldn’t let someone go for their title!
“Yeah, maybe Patch will know, he might have heard of something. He didn’t have anything to do with it though, he would have told me otherwise, gotten me in on the fun. Cause that is sweet!” he laughed. Very few people would find this as entertaining as Evan did. If it was his car, he wouldn’t be quite so amused, he loved his baby after all, but it wasn’t, so things were all good. “Whose car is that anyway? If that was mine, I’d be so annoyed. Ah, if only it was Tyler Durnham’s, that would be hilarious! Guess I can’t be that lucky though.”
Very few things could be enticing enough to distract Evan from the sight of a car stuck on a flag pole. Christophe just found one of them. It took a few seconds for it to get through to him, his eyes still watching the scene played out in front of him, not paying attention to where he was going, mainly only heading into the school thanks to Christophe dragging him along.
But then, “Candy.” he grinned, snapping back to attention, his mouth practically watering at the promise of this unknown candy. It was like a surprise, and he loved surprises. He hoped it was chocolate though, he really felt like chocolate, and breakfast just wasn’t breakfast without chocolate.
And his friend didn’t disappoint, Evan just managing to hold back a cheer as the piece of heavenly delight, commonly known as a Hershey’s bar, was pressed into his hand. He expected it was for them to share, which would have been fine, but the grin on his face doubled as he realised it was his alone. First Dare ploughing him with candy, and now Christophe. He loved his friends, they were awesome! If he wasn’t so hyper and didn’t feel the need to run around everywhere, he’d surely be twice the size by now.
“Thanks Christophe! This is awesome. Just what I felt like. But, um, to be honest, I don’t think that’s a promise I can keep. I mean, just look at it man.” he got in early, holding it up for display purposes. “It’s only little.” To most people it was big enough, but Evan really wasn’t most people now, but it was the perfect snack size. Just not perfect eat in two helpings size.
He did manage to resist getting stuck into the bar for the moment though, otherwise he knew if he opened it now, he would inhale it, and that might not be a pretty sight for Christophe. “I suppose I better get ready for class too before the bell rings. And ask around about the car thing, that was totally cool.” he laughed again. “Patch and I have to do something like that. Thanks for the chocolate, I totally owe you one. Catch you later, and make sure you ask Lia out.” he reminded with a grin, before keeping true to form, turning on his heels and bolting down the corridor. “I got a Hershey’s, I got a Hershey’s, I got a Hershey’s, hey hey hey hey!”
