'Izzy... It's me. Takumi.'
He frowned and stopping writing momentarily. Of course she would know the message was from him. Only a total 'baka' would write such a dumb opening sentence.
He started again.
'Izzy. I am going to the beach and boardwalk after school with Thad, Dare and Mike. Please let me know how you are as I am worried as I didn't see you at school today.'
That was far better... wasn't it? He frowned slightly in consternation as he went back to waiting for Thad to arrive...

Izzy was busy greeting her family that was coming into town when her phone buzzed. She took it out and read the text message. Taki was so sweet. She smiled down and pressed reply so she could type out a reply.
"You are so sweet. Thank u. I am fine. U go and have fun. I am with Jett picking up family thats in town for the funeral. Lunch 2morrow @ school?- <3 Iz"
Izzy pressed the send button as she greeted her father a man she had barely scene since she was born.

Still no sign of Thad and Takumi glanced down at his phone when it announced a text.
Izzy!
He read quickly. Twice through. A smile surfaced. She was fine. Thank god for that. He'd finally managed to grasp (thanks to Thad's messages) that 'u' meant 'you' and '2morrow' meant 'tomorrow'. He still struggled with much of text 'speak' but was slowly getting there. For himself he knew he'd never manage to master the art and so stayed with long-hand words. He made enough mistakes as it was... He didn't want to risk making even more.
He typed a hasty reply.
'Ok. If you are sure I will go with the others but lunch tomorrow sounds perfect. Bye for now. T'
She would need this time alone with her family and those relatives now arriving for her mother's funeral. Takumi hoped Izzy would permit him to go to the funeral with her so that he could at least try and offer some kind of support but if it turned out to be family only he would completely understand. That was something he could ask her tomorrow at lunch.
