Life worked in mysterious ways. Yes she had a good time with Tyler, but it had not ended like Tyler wanted it to. They stopped right before second base, cause Sari was not about to go any further. She had managed to get home at a decent hour the night before.
This morning she woke up in a very good mood. Things had been good, but the planetarium was far from her mind at the moment. In her mind it had been a good night, but she was not about to get her hopes up in terms of Tyler. So she moved onto thinking about other things, like her weekend trip to Fort Apache Reservation about an hour outside of LA. She already sent word to the chief she would be there. it would feel nice to go away for the weekend. She could relax and go through the rituals she had been told about, and reconnect with people she had not scene since around Christmas. It truly was like her second home there. She contemplated inviting Seth, but she figured he would not want to go. She could invite Duke, but even that was up in the air since the morning. Sari had books about various Native American tribes and the culture. It was fascinating. She was sure no one shared her interest. Today Sari wore blue jeans that showed the top of her tattoos, and her top was brown, and a little loose, with thick straps. It was a Native American theme. Very cute in Sari's opinion. She decided to bring her lunch. Sari planned to eat outside. As long as the weather permitted. She would not sit on the wet grass, but she could sit on top of one of the benches outside. Sometimes being cooped up was a sad, sad thing. Sari closed her locker and took a book with her about the Apache. She was still reading about different facets and values they held. It was fascinating. To learn about another culture and see if you could truly see what life was like in someone elses shoes. She found a secluded bench and climber up sitting down. Her lunch on one side and the book in her lap. She was going for peace and quiet today. She not in the mood to sit in the caf and deal with all the yapping. Sari was humming to herself when she felt a presence. And by felt she saw a shadow that did not belong to her on the ground and turned her head to the side to get a look at who came outside. "Well hello...couldn't sit inside either...its way to nice to be cooped up inside. Besides I love the smell or nature after it rained." She gave the person a kind smile. Sari inhaled the scent. It had a woodsy smell. It almost reminded her of Bambi right after the rain Storm scene. That was such a sad movie. The poor animals that died.Sure it was a cartoon and yes Sari ate meat, but she appreciated where her food came fro, versus people that did not care. But Sari would never get into it. Everyone had their own views and there was no point in talking about certain things. Unless you were on the debate team like she was.

Dena was certain, that in the history of weekends, the one she just had would be in the top ten best weekends ever. If not the top five. She and Caitlin ‘officially’ took on the titles of girlfriend, and well, girlfriend. They spent practically the whole weekend, and while a weekend spent playing arcade games, watching anime and eating ice cream would normally be considered as a good one by any definition, doing all that (and gloriously, more!) with your very, very cute girlfriend amped up the cool factor. Plus, to top it off, they got to go bowling with cool old friends and new friends, and did it all dressed up. So Dena got in more perving of her cute new girlfriend. Life was so good.
She had brought lunch from home, which turned out to be a really smart decision, a quick scan of what the cafeteria was offering told her. She was one of the first ones there, so wasn’t altogether surprised when no one she really knew that well was there. She could wait until someone showed up, she supposed, but that seemed kinda boring. Heading outside seemed a better option, and within seconds of heading into the great outdoors, it paid off, Dena spotting someone she knew very well.
“I didn’t notice it was a nice day. Or that it smelt nice. I just wanted company.” she laughed, plonking herself down next to her older sister. She pulled out her sandwich, hungry, starting to munch on it as she eyed Sarissa.
“I know you like guys and all.” Dena grinned, pulling a face as though she couldn’t understand the appeal (which was exactly the case), “But, Tyler Durnham? Did I hear right? He seems just so...is smarmy the right word? Yeah, I think so, smarmy. And what about Duke, I think he likes you.” she giggled. “He always looks at you all wide-eyed.”

Sari smiled as her little sister sat down next to her. Sari loved her younger siblings despite them being the stars of the reality show, but that was more her parents doing and that's why Sari had a problem with her parents. Sari bumped her sisters elbow when she sat down next to her, "Smarmy...that's the best you got. Nice ton." She said with a laugh.
Sari closed her book and put it to the side, "You really think Duke likes me. I mean, he is my best friend and...you know...it would be weird right...if him and I....I mean friends dating..i don't know...but he is kind of cute right....." Sari had never thought of the whole Duke liking her bit. Yes they had sex Sunday morning, but that had been as friends right. Wonderful, now her little sister was confusing her even more.
"Well don't worry about Tyler and being all smarmy. He is only interested in one thing....and he is not getting it. Guys like Tyler enjoy women falling at their feet and having sex with him. Thats not gonna happen with me. I let him take me out on a date and I admit he actually showed me he can think with more then his tiny head." she was not referring to the above his shoulders either.
"...and we made out and stuff, but Nada happened and it won't happen. Cause guys like Tyler are smarmy..." Sari let out a tiny laugh. Sari also doubted Tyler would ever listen to anything a woman said unless that woman was his friend. She would be shocked if he heard her actually say she liked Native American culture.
"Which is why I am glad you are sticking to women...speaking of women...was I mistaken or ..do you have a girl in your life." Things got around especially when you were a senior. Of course more people probably knew about Sari and Tyler giving their make out session, but still.
Sari always manage to have gossip reach her ears. "Since when is my little sister trying to be all protective over me...huh..making sure I pick the right guy..isn't it my job to make sure you pick the right girl.....is this girl a good one.?" Sari asked really wanting to know.

When her sister asked if Dena really thought Duke liked her, she considered it carefully for a moment, before settling on a shrug. “I dunno.” she admitted to Sari. “But don’t lots of best friends end up dating? You already like each other, and care about each other, so maybe. I’m not exactly the expert on guys and girls dating though.” she pointed out with a laugh. “And I’m not sure if he’s cute. He’s too...you know, boyish for me.” She really didn’t mean too much by it at first, just gentle teasing, but the way her sister reacted, Dena couldn’t help but wonder if maybe Sari had thought about Duke before, in a more than friend-like way. Either that or something happened between the pair, but she doubted that, she reckoned her sister would have told her if it had. Or she hoped she would, at least. She was nosy that way.
She was clearly relieved about what Sari had to say about Tyler. Her sister could date whoever she wanted, it didn’t matter to her, but she thought she could do so much better than the footballer who seemed to change women more often than she changed clothes. “Good. Cause something about that guy gives me the heebies. Come on, you have to admit, he’s just too polished and grinny. Like a politician. Or a game show host. Plus, you can’t trust a guy who never has a hair out of place.”
The confession that the two did make out though, while not unexpected, made Dena giggle. “Alright, well, since you lowered yourself to that, how was it? He’s gotta be a good kisser at least, cause of all the girls. Not that I would ever kiss him. Eww, gross.” she teased, laughing. “And how was the date? He really wasn’t boring? I always kinda figured him as not being able to talk about anything other than himself. I’m being really mean to him, aren’t I?” she laughed. “Well, come on, tell me!”
“Girl, what girl?” she asked, trying to make herself look clueless. Which, scarily enough, she managed to pull off quite well. “Oh! You’re talking about my girlfriend!” she smiled, smacking her head as if she should have realised that beforehand. This was her limit however, and she ended up in another fit of giggles. “Yep, me and Caitlin are dating now.” she bubbled, bouncing around where she sat. “You know Caitlin Alderman right? About yay high,” she gestured with her hand, “Super cute, I’m always hanging around her.”
Giggling again, just a hint of a blush showed in her cheeks. “We made it official on the weekend. And then practically spent both days completely together. It’s great! And yeah, she’s a good one. Great one.” Dena smiled. “Yep, it’s nice having a girlfriend. Not that you would know, what, with Tyler and all.” she teased, rolling her eyes. “So while he’s still around, I still have to watch out for you. Warn him, I’m not afraid to tackle him.”
Half a sandwich gone, she moved onto the other half, glancing over at the now closed book in front of her sister. “So, whatcha reading?”

"If he is too boyish then just imagine him in a dress with a wig and breasts. Minus the leg hair." Sari said kidding around. "Okay thats just a bad image actually, erase it...erase it." Sari began to laugh and messed up Dena's hair. Something had happened with Duke and it was written all over Sari's face as she said her next comment, "Well I will tell you one thing, sometimes guys and girls being best friends can be many shades of gray." In other words lines got blurred easily and it was sometimes unsure where you stood on the line of friendship.
"I am so telling mom to change your diet to involve no caffeine." Sari told her sister with a smile, "Tyler was a really good kisser. He has had a ton of practice after all. The date was interesting. I was expecting him to take me to some fancy place, but instead he paid the planetarium to rent out their room with the stars and the planets on the top. He had a picnic laid out." Sari gave Dena details about the food and other physical activities that happened.
"Actually the date was rather interesting. Maybe a tad boring, but mostly I found it intriguing, more so because I am curious if Tyler really listened to anything I had to say. You are not being mean. Tyler does have a smile and personality of a politician. He obviously hates to hear the word no,and to have a female mad at him." That much was very obvious. "But he is a good guy, but also one to stay away from. I have a feeling he leads on too many women and soon it will bite him in the ass." In other words the more women he led on the more likely he would break a few hearts and what happened if he broke the wrong heart.
"Either way I don't think Tyler and I will be interacting anymore. He had his fun. I agreed to a date, we made out. He got a tad farther, but not much, so..I doubt he will circle back. " Sari's tone was very laid back and laissez faire. She really doubted Tyler would talk to her again and she was okay with that. "Besides you know me. I have no time for guys who pretend to listen."
"A girlfriend...does mom know....Iwould love to see her face when you tell her that." Sari said giving her sister a reassuring smile. "I want to meet this Caitlin. She sounds like a cool chick. I am glad you finally got a girlfriend. There is this one girl I met. Her name is Sloane and she is quite lovely." Sari might be with guys more, but she made it no secret around her family that she had checked out women before.
Sari busted out laughing at Dena's next round of words."Tackle....really...now that I would love to see. Man...I needed that laugh...Whats sad is I actually think you would do it...you make me so proud."
Sari handed Dena the book. "Its called The flute player : an Apache folktale. Its by Michael Lacapa. He is a member of an Apache Tribe. I found it in the library over the weekend. I could not pass it up. I was thinking of taking a trip to the reservation that about an hour out of town this weekend. What about you...besides this girlfriend...whats going on in your life?"

Tyler with breasts, without leg hair, in a dress, wearing a wig. It took a moment for Dena to compose that image in her head, and as soon as she had, she really, really regretted it. Sari’s call to erase the image came far too late for her, and she groaned in disgust, not completely exaggerated. “Oh, that’s gross. Even I wouldn’t go there.” she protested, shaking her head as if trying to clear the image from it, before it could burn into her head.
Her protests changed into laughter, and she playfully nudged her sister. “Hey, watch the hair.” she grinned, before Sari’s next comment pulled an excited squeal from her. “I knew it! Something happened with you and Duke!” she crooned, excited she picked it. “He kissed you, didn’t he? No, wait, you kissed him! Way to go Sari!” she laughed, looking just a little thoughtful. “I mean, he seems nice, and you think he’s cute. And it’s better him than Tyler. Even if he was in a dress. Hey, you got the image stuck in my head, now I’m going to get it back into yours.”
“Don’t even think about it. I love my caffeine.” she warned, trying her best to look scary as she said it. Which, for Dena, was far from scary at all. Most people found it hard to be intimidated by a short girl who’s constantly bouncing around. The planetarium wasn’t a place she would have guessed Tyler would take anyone, so she had to give him points on that. But still, she couldn’t imagine wanting to go there herself, on a date. Not a serious date, anyway. “Um, isn’t that kinda cheesy?” she pointed out with a laugh, trying to keep her expressions to a minimum when Sari detailed exactly what they got up to. She also held back her comments until the end. “So he’s only mostly self absorbed. I suppose that’s good for him.” she laughed. She wasn’t sure about Sari’s theory that she wouldn’t be bothered by the footballer any more. “I dunno, he seems kinda persistent. I reckon he’s going to ask you out again.”
She wasn’t as excited as her sister obviously was to tell her mum about her dating status. Not that she thought her mum would mind, but this was her first proper girlfriend after all, and she didn’t want a fuss. That would just be embarrassing. “Well, Mum and Dad both know about Caitlin. I told them I was staying over at her place on the weekend after all.” The smile on her face spread at this. “They just don’t know that she’s my girlfriend. My girlfriend!” she squealed again. “Of course you can meet her. And I’m glad I have a girlfriend too.” she agreed with a laugh, spreading herself out on the grass. “Sloane...yeah, I think I know her. Well, seen her around. She’s not my type, but, go you!” she cheered, teasingly. “Taking after your little sis, I’m flattered.”
“Oh, I totally would. So what if he plays football, he’s not match for me. I’ll get Caitlin’s help, we should be able to knock him down. Like, if we catch him unexpected when he’s tired. And Duke too!” she warned, once again trying to look threatening. “I think I could take him by myself. I’ll follow him around, be annoying. He won’t like it. He just better treat my sister nice.” Sari’s laughs made her join in, as she kicked her foot with her own.
“Reading a book that isn’t anime or a comic book, or for school? I dunno.” Dena teased, flicking through the pages. “And it’s not a pop-up book either! So, just you, or is someone else going to come with you on this trip?” she asked, an eyebrow raised. The book looked kinda interesting though, better than what she had to read in class, anyway.
“Well, besides my really cute girlfriend, absolutely nothing.” she laughed. “Hey, I’m fourteen, I don’t have to have anything going on! I’m busy enough anyway, with school, and Caitlin, and my astronomy.” Dena couldn’t help but add this, her siblings all knew exactly what she got up to with her telescope. “I was thinking about maybe getting a job though, if I can find one that won’t be completely boring. Having a girlfriend is going to be expensive, I want to go out with her all the time.” she protested, sounding like she really didn’t mind this at all. “And I don’t think Mum and Dad are going to want to pay for it all. So I might have to, you know, work. Totally boring.”
She crushed up the rubbish from her now finished lunch, looking around her older sister. “Hey, do you have lunch? I’m still hungry, I want to steal some of yours.”

It was kind of gross, but still. Sari would not mind seeing Tyler dressed like a woman. That could be a very interesting visual. Now that would get her into her into his bed. However, it was also something very mean to do, so Sari choose to forget about it. She highly doubted Tyler would ever do something like that, and as interesting as it was, Sari could not blame him. "Watch your hair..what....what.." Sari said joking around as she pretended to mess more with Dena's hair.
"Hey that image is for you alone..i don't want it back." Sari said laughing more with her sister. "I spent the night at Duke's on Saturday remember. When I woke up, lets just say innocent joking and flirtation turned into more physical activities." She told Dena. "So it's confusing. I am not sure what we are now, I think we have left it at friends. Besides serious is not my thing at the moment."
Sari tried not to laugh at her sisters scary face, "Okay, remind me you need lessons on scary faces." She told her. Dena was great. Her sister had this knack for making her laugh. "Cheesy is not always a bad thing." She told her little sis. "Oh he is more then self absorbed. Its just not as bad as I thought. The guy still thinks he can turn a lesbian straight." She said that on purpose for Dena. "Even if you are right and he does ask me out again, I am not about to fall into his bed unless he can show that he actually cares about what women have to say."
Sari cocked her eye brow, "Just friends...got ya." Sari gave her a wink. "Staying over at the girlfriends house, do I need to be worried..."Sari said this with a smile to show she was not serious. 'Well what can I say, you might have a point, that other women can be appealing, but I still enjoy the company of guys more. Yet I am not totally dissing women if you know what I mean." She nudged her sister a little. "And after that squeal..thats why you don't get any more caffeine." Sari said with a laugh.
"Okay...thats it..i better warn Tyler and Duke. Be careful. Tyler might enjoy being tackled by two women." Sari said with a smirk as she kicked her sisters foot back, playfully. "You being annoying. Now thats something natural you can do." She was only joking around when she said it. Little siblings were meant to be annoying, but Sari got along with all of them for the most part.
"I never considered asking anyone. But I would not object to other people coming. I have been to this reservation many times before and they love meeting new people. Its really fun if you enjoy camping." Sari had to admit the conditions were not great on the reservation, but they had most amenities. Just you slept in tents and not in a house with a roof. "But I doubt anyone would want to go...what guy or girl would want to give up their hair dryer and a bed. Except for you and me of course." Sari said giving her sister a look.
"You could always work at the Planetarium. It deals with astronomy." Sari suggested. Sari thought it was good, besides it made her chuckle from what she told Dena moments ago. "Just keep asking mom and dad for money but for different reasons. Who said they had to know what you are really spending the money on." Sari did not care about taking her parents money.
Sari had an apple and half a sandwich left from her lunch, "Here you go. Man why do fourteen year old eat so much. Between you, Brandon, Trenton and Julian, its a shock there is ever food in the house." Sari was aware she left out Celeste cause she did not eat that much.

“Hey, watch it.” Dena grumbled, trying and failing to get out of Sarissa’s way as her older sister continued to mess around with her hair. Though she sounded annoyed, or at attempted to sound annoyed, the look on her face basically gave her away. She really was bad at hiding her emotions. She would make for a bad poker player. When she was old enough to actually care about playing poker. Which, by that stage, knowing her she’d probably be more interested in playing strip poker, in which case, she wouldn’t mind losing so much. It was probably a good thing she was only fourteen. “You’re just jealous cause I’m so cute, that’s why you’re trying to mess my hair up.”
“Physical activities? I knew it!” Dena grinned, pleased she was right. “I said he likes you. So what, he kissed you or...no...” she trailed off in surprise, her jaw dropping just a bit as she deciphered the look on her sister’s face. “You didn’t kiss...no, you may have kissed, but, way to go Sari!” she laughed, playfully nudging her sister. She wasn’t what some would call a prude, and while she could imagine some in her family, namely Celeste, might be a bit shocked by the news, she didn’t mind in the slightest. In fact, she thought it was cool. “So, I’m guessing he does like you then. Told you.” she teased. “It does sound confusing though. I’m so glad it’s you and not me.” She burst out laughing at her expression. “What, I’m just saying. I’m too young to worry about that. But at least you can still be friends. That’s pretty cool.”
“See, jealous again.” Dena pointed out seriously as she stretched her legs out. “I do awesome scary faces. See?” She demonstrated her ‘skill’ by attempting to pulling another scary face. Though it didn’t look scary, more like she was in pain. Something either she didn’t realise, or was happy with, because after a few seconds she dropped the expression, smiling again, apparently impressed with her efforts. “Told you. And cheesy isn’t always bad.” she agreed, before a shudder ran through her. “What? Not a chance. Especially not with me. I mean, me and Tyler? That’s just gross.”
She groaned louder at this, pulling a pained expression. ‘Oh, that’s a worse image than the one of him in a dress. Get it out, get it out!” she begged, her voice breaking into laughter halfway through. “Of course I’m right, I’m always right! He’ll ask you out again for sure. He’ll have to be crazy not to.” she said, actually saying something nice about her older sister. “But, it sounds to me, I mean, that you actually like him. Eww.” she teased. “He’ll ask you out.”
“No, nothing to be worried about, it was mainly all very innocent.” Dena told her, sounding just a little disappointed at this. They did just officially start dating over the weekend, she reminded herself, of course it’ll be slow for a while. It just didn’t make things any easier, and her any more patient, when Caitlin was just so cute, and Dena was, well, Dena. “Of course I have a point. And that’s okay, you have all the guys, and I’ll have all the girls. Well, not so much now, but I can still look.” she decided. “And hey, the squeal is cute, everyone tells me so. So no more threatening to take my caffeine, or I’ll tackle you too. Don’t think I won’t.”
The moment Sari’s foot kicked hers back, it started a foot kicking war, Dena almost in hysterics as she started to kick her foot, over and over. IT was quickly obvious soon enough that neither would win anytime soon. “Okay, truce, truce!” she called out, wiping tears from her eyes. “Okay, remind me never to tackle Tyler. And you so don’t think I’m annoying. I’m totally your favourite, I know. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.”
“Well, I kinda like my bed.” Dena admitted sheepishly. “Though, I don’t mind giving up a hair dryer for a weekend. Or even a bed, I suppose. I mean, I could always find a cute girl to cuddle up with in her sleeping bag, you know, to help her keep warm.” She would joke about it, but they both knew she wouldn’t consider it unless the cute girl was Caitlin. And if that was the case, Dena would push for more than snuggling up. She loved cute girls, but she was more than happy to stick to one, now that she did in fact have one. “It does sound kinda cool there. You should totally take Tyler, have everyone weird him out, it’ll be funny!”
Another dumbfounded expression crossed Dena’s face again, completely put on. “The Planetarium? Wow. You actually had a really good idea. I didn’t realise that was possible! Good for you!” She clapped a few times before dropping the act, starting to laugh. “That actually would be alright. I could get Mum to drop me off, it’s not that far. Or I could catch the bus. And it wouldn’t be too boring. I might see if they have anything open.” she decided, already sold on the idea. It really would be good to have some more money. And not because she could buy Caitlin cute outfits to dress up in. Well, maybe, but that wasn’t just why she wanted a job. “Oh, I’ll still ask them for money too. I have expensive tastes.” she laughed.
“We don’t eat too much. You eat too little.” she decided, though that didn’t stop her from reaching over and hungrily grabbing the half a sandwich and apple Sari offered her, smiling in thanks as she took a first bite. “Mmm, good sandwich.” She had a few bites, loudly enjoying the sandwich. “I dunno, we just must use more energy up than you. Even with your physical activities with Duke.” she smirked. “It’s not like we’re hyper or anything though, or run around a lot. No, not at all.”
The sandwich quickly disappeared and she started making just as quick work out of the apple. “Oh, lunch is nearly over. That was quick. I would really like school, you know, if we didn’t have to go to class.”
