"Gage! I need you to pick up some stuff from the grocery store. Do you mind?" Gage blinked at the TV before turning at his mother's voice. He got up from the couch and went to where his mother's voice was coming from and found her on her bed with an ice pack over her head. "Ma, you okay?" Concern filling his voice as he approached the bed.

Louisa Foster didn't much like having any of her children worry about her in any way so when she heard Gage's voice, she pulled herself up in a sitting position and put down her coolpad. "Yep. Little headache. So...mind doing some errands for me, super boy?" she plastered a smile on her face and reached over to her bedside table for her purse.

"Of course mom." He walked over to sit beside his mom to feel her forehead and neck which was a bit warmer than he had hoped it would be. With the sudden weather change, he supposed he should have expected it but knowing his mother who had never been sick in all the years he knew her, it was a bit worrying. "Ma, you're kinda burning up."

"Any excuse for a day off, Gage. You could always make me chicken soup for a change." Louisa laughed a bit before coughing slightly. "Damn the weather's pretty bad, huh. You think you can manage, Gage?"

"Yeah, sure. I'll get you something for your cough."

Louisa gave him some money. "Don't forget your umbrella. And wear something warm."

"Ma, you're the sick one not me." Gage teased his mother before pecking her on the cheek and accepting the money. "I'll wear my parka. Don't worry yeah? Rest and I'll be back soon." He poked his mother's cheek affectionately and grinned before leaving the room to get his parka and umbrella.

Out of habit, he went down the fire escape to see if Genny was there but she wasn't. Must be out with Will...maybe. He shrugged and went straight down to head to the grocery store where it was mildly crowded with people who needed shelter from the deluge. As he scoured the aisles for some medicine his mother could take, Gage hummed a few bars of a song stuck in his head by NoFX.

Reese needed some more of her orange bloosm shampoo, she had used the last of it that afternoon. She was still fuming over what that loser did. She was glad her dress was okay and she could wear it the rest of the day. She looked hot in the dress and it was sexy and class and showed off her curves. Of course she had to wear new shoes which she hated and she about cried when having to send back the ruined pair to get a new pair. She headed to the store and walked in and headed down the asile and picked up a few bottles of the shampoo and conditioner.

She glanced up the aisle and saw a cute boy and she searched her mind for his name. Gage she thought and smiled. She walked up to him and smiled. "Hi Gage right I am Reese Butler" she gave him her best cute smile. "I have seen you around school." She had a flirty tone to her voice and she heard somewhere he was not single but she was Reese Butler and did not care about something like that. Just cause a guy had a girl was not going to keep her from flirting from a hot guy. And by his looks alone he was definatly worthy of talking to and getting to know.

The humming stopped when someone started to talk to him. His jaw dropped when he saw Reese Butler, one of the more popular cheerleaders in Silver whom he had liked before Hannah came into the picture. "Reese...uh...Hi, yeah Gage. I know who you are I...I mean I've seen you during practices and uh...wow hi." Yes, Gage...be more awkward why don't you?

It was taking him a long time adjusting to the fact that he was also one of the more popular boys in school because he was on the basketball team. He was supposed to be more cool around girls like Reese. But she was a cheerleader. A Junior no less. He just can't believe she's actually talking to him. In a grocery store.

"Well...you do cheer for me from time to time...you know...during basketball matches. Well not me. The team so..." He shrugged and gave a little shy smile to the girl. "Wow okay this is awkward but uh...what are you doing here? I mean...you're obviously shopping but...what are you looking for? Maybe I can help."

Gage was supposed to go straight home but he could spare some time to help out the girl. It didn't take a long time, did it?

Reese smiled wider as he seemed to stumble of his words around her. That means he thought she was beautiful but how could he not honestly. She hoped to use that to her advantage, what was she thinking of course she would use it all to her advantage. "Well I am hard to miss" she said with a smile and leaned in closer to him. "I do enjoy cheering and I love it when people notice" she said to him. Which she loved attention all the time and to know he noticed her just made her ego even bigger.

"You are great on the court" she said and laid a hand on his arm. She would do things one step at a time since he was nervous around her. And she wondered what her touch was doing to him. She would bet any money it sent his body into overdrive. She knew when a guy liked her and he had a crush on her by his reaction to her. "I have cheered for you alone at times" she said with a sweet smile. "Your my favorite on the team" she winked at him and moved her hand subtly.

"Oh I had to pick up my shampoo this is the only place that carries it" she flipped her blond hair so he can smell her hair. "I love it" she said. Now he would know what she smelled like and that would stay with him. "What are you looking for?" she asked and leaned into him with a smile on her face.

Gage's smile faltered slightly when Reese's ego reared its ugly head. He never really quite got what made people so crazy for attention. Of course, this was a bit contradicting since he was a basketball player and he did love it when the crowd cheered for him and his team's efforts during a particularly challenging game. And also Hannah. He really liked her and she was a cheerleader too. Was she this confident with herself?

The flirtation came as a bit of a surprise to Gage but he didn't push her away. He should have. He liked Hannah. In his books that meant he shouldn't just let other girls try and put their charms on him. At the same time, he hoped Hannah wasn't going to let other guys try and put their charms on her. Or the other way around either...not that she was incapable of doing that without effort at all. But this girl...she was doing things to a regular red-blooded teenage boy. Of course things went a bit haywire in his mind.

It didn't help that she knew exactly what to say to make him feel good about himself. Oh this girl was good. Her blatant hair flip signaled that she was really laying it on thick with her flirtation. And boy was it working. Gage tried to hold on to the memory of talking to Hannah. Although they hadn't made it official at all, the date he had gone with her was supposed to have cemented his feelings for her. And if that wasn't official then he didn't know what else he could do.

And Hannah seemed a bit standoffish lately and she hadn't called him or said anything to him whenever they were in school. He heard rumours about Hannah being all over Evan Hughes and that guy seemed to be popular among Gould juniors and apparently Sophomores too...was Hannah sending him a signal? That Gould and Silver should never mix? They were rivals after all.

Reese was Silver. She was a cheerleader and looked like she was into him... He blinked repeatedly before realising that she had asked him a question. "Wha...? Oh. Uh...well my mom...she's a bit sick so I'm looking for stuff to uh you know...um...make her better." He stammered. Wow, smooth Gage. Real smooth.

So he was a nice guy Reese thought, hot a nice guy she has never came across one of them before. And normally she does not do nice since she herself is not nice but oddly she liked it in in Gage. It fit him perfectly and any anything else would not work with him. "That is so sweet of your" she said seeing what he picked. "When I got sick a few years ago, like sick as can be for two weeks straight they gave me this the last few days knocked it out of me" she said reaching around him so her body brushed his. She picked up a box and put it in his hand and let her hand brush his. "I think that this will really help your mom" she smiled.

Nice guys like girls that are nice and help out she thought to herself. I can do that I can be nice, and it seemed even though he went on a date with Hannah he was here talking to her clearly crushing on her which was just fine with her. "Have you thought about herbal or green tea I heard those work really good" she added and smiled and looked into his eyes. He did have sexy dark eyes that is for sure. "I know where that is to, sometimes I put green tea in my hair it keeps it nice and healthy." So glad I know where all this stuff is she thought to herself, she is actually glad she does go to the store herself, she always read a store is a good place to meet a guy she never believed it till now.

When Reese's whole demeanour suddenly changed, Gage couldn't help but smile. He was of course completely oblivious to her plans. He was just too naive to the wily ways of girls who look like Reese. And Hannah for that matter. He hadn't seen her flirt with anyone else of course. But rumors started for a reason. He was a teenage boy. He couldn't help himself.

What he wasn't oblivious to was the brush of their bodies as Reese reached for a box of medicine that had helped her when she was sick. He accepted it and checked the back of the box to hide his furious blush. Not that he knew what he was looking for but when he finally managed to get rid of his blush, which wasn't too hard since he was pretty tan anyway, he looked up and smiled at Reese. "Thanks...it kinda sucks when moms start getting sick you know?"

"Oh yeah!" he brightened up at Reese's suggestion. Boy did she know a lot. "Those could come in handy too! Thanks Reese! You're a lifesaver." He grinned and looked around for the tea before realising that he didn't know this place well enough. "And wehre would those things be?" he gave her a sheepish grin, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment.

Reese hid her please smile by coyly looking away from him. It was perfect he did not know where everything was. "I can show you the way" she said. She casually slipped her arm through his and began leading him to the right asile. "Did you need a ride back to your house when your done here?" she asked him and looked over at him. So the nice girl he liked she could be the nice girl around him easily.

When they got to the right asile she sohwed him the boxes and picked up a brand. "This is my favortie brand" she said and passed it to him. "And try this herbal mint tea for her to drink. My mother drinks it in the morning and she stays pertty healthy" she said to him with a smile and passed him the box. She began planning how she was going to spend more time with him, and she knew the perfect thing. She pretend like she just suddenly got a idea. "Oh Gage a idea just pope in my head. How about after you take care of your mom we can get some coffee and food" she said. "Or even lunch" she said and smiled.

She also knew another girl thing she could do. "I can make the tea for your mom if you want at your house why you give her the medicine" she smiled sweetly. Okay this will not be hard at all she thought to herself. There was no way he could say no and she still had her arm through his as she picked up a thing of tea for her mom and some green tea for her hair and to drink herself. She loved sweets but she tried not to eat to many she did like to eat healthy and stay in shape. She loved her figure and planned on keep it like it is now the rest of her life and she knew it would be hard work but definatly worth it.

Gage didn't stop her from slipping her hand through his arm as she guided him to the aisle that held different teas and confectionery. When Reese asked him whether he had a ride home, he couldn't help but grin. "Are you offering, Reese?" he asked teasingly. However, the smile wavered when he realised that he was reciprocating the flirtation. And all he could think of was Hannah. He sobered up and smiled lightly at the girl hanging on to him.

He took the boxes of tea she offered and put it in the basket he was holding. It was filling up halfway when Reese offered to come back with him so she could make tea for her. Man...she's nice, Gage thought to himself, all thoughts about her being egoistic flying out of the window. It still made him a bit suspicious because so far, no girl had ever took the time in her 'busy' life to help someone they just got to meet. The only girl sweet enough for that was Genny and that was only because they were best friends.

Not one to push away good luck, Gage's smile brightened. "Hey that's a good idea. I mean...it would be good if I had an extra pair of hands...I think my mom would like it if I brought back some of my friends from school too. She's always pestering me about bringing people back who isn't Genny. Genny's my best friend by the way,"

"Are we done? I don't want to keep my mom waiting actually...do you mind? Have you gotten your shampoo?"

"I have all I need" Reese said. Score she thought to herself and grinned. He flirted back but he suddenly seemed to stop. She would have to change that and make him forget all about little miss Hannah. Which was clearly not going to be that hard. "Lets go pay and tell you what your stuff is on me" she smiled as she got in line she smiled at him sweetly. She would pull a guy move and pay for their stuff.

She did not mind driving that way she felt like she had some control of the situation at least. When it was their turn before he could protest she paid for the stuff. Picking up the bag she flashed him her sweetest smile. "Lets go take care of your mom and I can not wait to meet her" she said to him as she left the store with him. "Ugh I hope this weather lets up" she said to him and grimaced as the rain fell. "That is my car" she said and pointed to the right one which was near the front of the store.

Unlocking the car doors she opened the driver side and sat the bag in the back and waited for Gage to get in. "I have seen you around with that girl I have not met her yet" she said. One way to get a guy is to get to know his friends. "Perhaps I could meet her soon" she glanced over at him as she started up the car. Things were going well, all good things take time and progress and she was already laying out the ground work to get the guy, and it was working perfectly and he had no idea what she was even doing which was very important.
