Silver had fun at the DnD game, and then Friday night with Anderson. She was having a good weekend. Her mother was preoccupied with midterms from her class. So Silver was off the hook for having to stay in and be studious. She already finished her homework for the weekend and had made sure she had everything prepared and stuff. So Silver was free. For once. It was weird. She was not use to being free and having free time. She contemplated going to the library, but she had already been there this week. So where too. The rain from the day was not good. So that threw out other things. Not that she would go to the beach, she could not swim, so that would be stupid. The carnival was out. Silver honestly was not allowed out in the rain given her medical problem, with the heart transplant, but she wanted out of the house so badly. She would make sure to be safe. She hoped. Thank god her car was in the garage it would help. Oh she could go to the mall and park in the parking garage that would help. Silver was glad to have an idea. She wore black boots, jeans, a long sleeve shirt, her jean jacket and left to head to the mall. Silver was not a shopper, but she would got just to get out of the house. She walked around the mall for a while stopping at the food court to eat a quick lunch.
She was just reciting random facts to herself really, cause she was a dork like that. "Did you know The most common name in the world is Mohammad. Oh and did you know The sound of E.T. walking was made by someone squishing her hands in jelly." Her neurosis was coming out. She had a compulsion to spout random facts no matter where she was.

Emma was bored. It was Sunday afternoon and she'd spent the majority of the weekend reading, except for last night when she'd gone out to see a movie with her dad. He knew a drive in theatre that was about an hour outside of the city but she'd thought it was pretty cool, being a drive in and all so she didn't mind so much that it had been a long ride. Emma liked long car rides with her dad anyway...they were quiet...faint music playing, they didn't talk much but Emma didn't mind that much either. Her mom used to always talk to her...all the time, but her dad was like her, quiet, and it was sort of comforting sometimes. But it was also boring sometimes too.
At the drive in, Emma had tripped on her way to the bathroom and she'd ended up ripping her favorite pair of jeans. So, Sunday afternoon she decided to go to the mall. Sure she had other pairs of jeans but she was hoping to replace her favorite pair. That's what she was looking for, when she heard the voice...telling her about the most common name being Mohammad...something she already knew...and about E.T. walking and jelly...something she didn't know. Emma turned, to see that the voice matched Silver. Silver was the girl she'd met the other day at school...who was smart and pretty and really friendly, probably popular too.
"Oh, hey," she said, smiling. "I'm Emma--you probably don't remember but we met the other morning at school," she said, assuming that Silver wouldn't have remembered her. Emma didn't think she was a very memorable person since she was so quiet. "It's nice seeing you again though," she said. She stepped to the side to let someone else pass her, but as she did so, her purse got caught on the clothes rack, causing her to spin around as she stumbled and ended up on the floor.
Emma sat there just staring for a moment as she let out a sigh and pushed some of her long dark hair off her face. "Sorry, I'm...clumsy," she mumbled as she started to get up, feeling the heat rushing to her cheeks. How embarrassing. Did she always have to fall?

Of course it had to be Emma. The popular brunette that she met along with Christophe. Whom had probably only walked over to Silver in order to talk to Emma. How could Silver forget. Which begged the question, why was Emma talking to her? This must be another pity thing or something. Story of Silver's life. Its why she loved getting lost in the DnD game, or being with Anderson. People who actually wanted to talk to her.
"Oh I remember. Of course I do. That guy, invited both of us on to his boat, or a boat....something like that." Of course Silver remembered the guys name, but she did not want to say it, since every time she said or even thought about him she blushed. Oh crap and there she went, a blush heading to her cheeks.
"OH my..are you okay." She asked Emma as she saw the poor girl take a spill. "I can be one too it's okay. Its like my feet have a mind of their own when I am walking. " Silver admitted as she extended a hand to help Emma up. "You sure you are okay?" She hoped the girl was not hurt or anything.
"Well actually you could blame the clothes rack, they are ill placed and just screaming for a purse strap to be caught on them. " Silver said actually joking for once, so she hoped Emma laughed. Silver let out a small chuckle. She was not use to joking, but hopefully it made Emma feel a little better.

Emma smiled, so Silver didn't remember her so much as she did that guy. Oh well, typical. If Emma had met herself and the guy at the same time, she'd hardly remember herself. And then Silver was blushing...was it talking about the guy? Christophe...that was it. Maybe she had a crush on him. Emma wasn't sure when he was planning his sailing trip but maybe she wouldn't go and let him and Silver be alone since he probably liked her back.
Emma was mortified by her fall, but she tried to act like it was no big deal. No matter how many times she tripped or fell, it was always embarrassing. "Yeah, I'm fine really," she said as she pulled herself up. "I'm used to it...I'm looking for new jeans because I ripped my favorite pair falling..." she admitted. It made herself seem dorkier but at least Silver was nice about it and all, so there was no reason to really lie about the extent of her clumsiness.
Emma smiled, laughing a little when the other girl mentioned blaming the clothes rack. "You're right...bad clothes rack," Emma said, making a face at it, joking back for a second. Then she realized that her joke was probably less funny, so she blushed slightly. "So...um...you shop here a lot?" she asked, lamely, hoping to take the focus off of herself.

Silver figured Emma only remembered her as the annoying blond that interrupted her ability to flirt or be with Christophe. Silver was always getting in the way. She needed to not go on the boat. Give Emma her chance to be with Christophe. Silver stubbed her foot on the ground as the thoughts of how she was always getting in everyone's way. Well except for Anderson, god thank you for Anderson.
Oh and there was Elena, who had to pull her out of the way of a car. Of course Silver could have gotten Elena hurt, which is so Silver like. She sighed and then laughed as Emma said bad clothes rack. "Too bad they don't have ears. I could give a few clothes rack an ear full." Silver told Emma with a smile.
"Oh no. Your favorite pair. I hope they are replaceable. I hate when I have to get rid of a piece of clothing I love to wear. I can never find a piece that fits like the old one. So I hope for you, you can find a pair to fit like the other jeans did. Maybe I can help you. Just tell me what kind of jeans they were." Silver offered. She smiled at the girl. "This is one of my favorite stores. I also like American Eagle, and Hollister. But mostly I just browse. I cannot pull off some of these clothes."

"I guess they have to be replaceable," Emma said. "I ruin a lot of clothes that way though...falling...so I guess I'm used to not getting too attached," she shrugged, "but its still really nice when you find a pair that fits really well," she explained. Plus, Emma was short and very petite so it was sometimes hard for her to find clothes that fit well. "This is where I got the last pair, so I was hoping that they'd have the same style but I don't see it," she told the other girl. "I got the last pair in Arizona though...I thought that wouldn't make a difference but maybe it does." Or maybe they were just out of stock. Emma didn't know.
She realized that she was surprisingly getting a little more talkative as she started to feel a little more comfortable around Silver. Stupid Emma, she thought...Silver was way too cool to want to hang out with her....she was probably just being nice. But then she offered to help her. "Really? You'd do that?" she asked. She paused a moment, "You don't have to...I mean, thanks for offering, but I don't want to you know...bother you. Plus, if we ran into someone from school...I wouldn't want you to have to be seen with me," she admitted, "I'm not exactly the most popular and I know how critical the popular crowd can be..."
She liked American Eagle and Hollister too, but she didn't say so. She figured it would be a good time to go now...leave Silver be. It wasn't exactly hard to run into people from school at the mall and Emma didn't want to embarrass Silver. Silver was really nice and she wouldn't want the other girl to have to deal with getting made fun of for hanging out with lowly Emma, who was invisible if anything.

"I have become the queen of learning how to get out a stain. It seems not matter what I eat it ends up on my clothes more then in my mouth. " Silver commented. What a stupid comment. Emma probably though Silver ate like a child. Wonderful. Why did she always have to stick her foot in her mouth. "You don't see it. OH no...Maybe you can find a pair like it, or something." Silver was not that much of an expert on clothes.
"Of course I will help. Just tell me what to look for and maybe we can find something to match at least." Silver was not sure what to look for hence why she needed an explanation. She was not good with clothes. When she went shopping she went for what fit versus what looked good. Emma seemed to have impeccable taste and she dressed well. Emma must know how to dress and Silver should feel lucky to know what kind of jeans Emma likes.
Yes, it was decided, Emma was defiantly popular and should not be talking to Silver at all. Inf act Silver was probably keeping her from meeting up with her popular friends. She just hoped that Emma did not go to her friends and make fun of Silver for thinking she could talk to Emma. Silver was drawn out of her thoughts when Emma suggested she leave Silver alone in case the popular crowd saw them.
Did Emma think Silver was popular....was this a joke. It must be. Emma must be playing a joke on Silver. Silver blinked at the girl, praying this was not some joke. Emma seemed to nice to be one of the mean popular girls. Silver must have had it all wrong, "But I like you. You are nice and sweet and I don't mind being seen with you."
Silver shifted a little. "I know how the popular crowd can be too, all judgmental and stuff. But I am not popular either....that crowd tends to not even notice I am alive. I was shocked you were even talking to me. I figured someone as popular as you was just being nice by speaking to me."

"I wish I knew those tricks...my mom was never much of a homemaker so what didn't come out in the normal was we'd donate or throw away if it was really bad. My dad doesn't really know what he'd doing either," she admitted. Both of her parents were more like children than adults really...well her dad less so, but he still didn't know how to take care of himself around the house. Emma had always played parent. She'd always done the cooking and a lot of the cleaning to. Not that she minded or anything, it was just the way it was.
"Maybe," Emma said with a shrug when Silver suggested she find a similar pair. "I guess the style doesn't matter so much...I usually were the slim fits, boot cuts, or skinny jeans. They tend to look best on me. The wider legs usually just look baggy....and I guess I usually have to wear the short leg ones too." Emma was petite so her clothes often had to be too. She supposed she could have bought regular sizes and had them tailored but she didn't really have the extra money to get all of her clothes tailored and while she could sew a little to fix a small rip or a fallen off button, that was the extent of her skills. She didn't really know how to alter clothes or anything like that. She smiled over at Silver, still surprised that she actually wanted to help her. "Thank you," she said.
Emma was surprised when Silver told her that she liked her...and furthermore that she wasn't popular and thought Emma was. "I like you too," Emma said. "I just kind of assumed you were popular--you look popular, and I've only been in school here for a few months now so I guess I'm still figuring out who is who," she admitted. "But trust me, I'm not popular. Most of the popular kids don't even know my name, let alone that I even exist. I guess...I'm usually pretty quiet," she said, "and I fall a lot so I probably spend more time on the floor than at the same level as everyone else. That probably doesn't help either," she pointed out, kind of thinking about how lame she probably sounded. But somehow Silver didn't care. Was Emma actually making a friend?

"Well it would be good had my mom taught me, but she can barely do laundry herself. Thats my job. My dad taught me a little. My mom always worked and my dad was usually home with my and my brothers. The rest I kind of learned by doing research. You would not believe th information someone can find on the Internet. " When he was not working. Her dad was like the wife, its part of the reason he left. Her mother had emasculated him. At least thats the word Silver heard during one of their fights. Apparently parents had no idea how loud their voices could get.
Silver was tall, well average, but her body was thin. Mostly from the hospital. You lost weight or at least body mass when in the hospital cause laying around in abed meant your muscles got smaller and Silver was still developing her muscle mass back. "Yeah I have to buy my pants and shirts in different sizes. I am an extra small on top and a small in pants. It get annoying to find the right out fit. Forget dresses." Silver said with a laugh. Then she snorted. "Excuse me." That was embarrassing.
"Please, I have been at school since freshmen year and besides Anderson, no one has barely spoken to me." Although Silver was in the hospital for part of he sophomore year. Silver blushed at Anderson's name. "You would like him. He is nice...." Another deep blush and a nervous laugh. "I think thats the best compliment I have ever been given. The popular kids tend to sit on top of me rather then next to me."
Silver had no glasses on right now. She broke her pair and was waiting. So now it was contacts that were itchy. She itched her eye a little. "I was shocked when you and the guy talked to me. I thought it was a mean joke. Cause no one like that ever talks to me. I guess we have a lot in common. I am quiet too. Unless I talk about Anderson, research, DnD, or books. Then you cannot shut me up.

"Yeah, my mom wasn't much of a launderer either," Emma admitted, "I don't think my dad knows much about laundry either. I usually do it, but I wouldn't say I'm good at it. I just follow the instructions on the labels," she shrugged. Sometimes that wasn't good enough for stains though. "I never really considered looking it up on the internet. I'm not really much of an internet fan...I mean I use it and all, but I'm more of a book person. If I can find it in a book, I'd rather read the information that way," she explained. She was probably one of the few people who still did the majority of her research in the library rather than on the internet.
"Yeah...I'm mostly the same size but it depends on the store," Emma said. Some stores where the sizes ran big, she'd be as small as an extra, extra small, or a double zero or whatever, but in some stores, usually the more junior ones, she'd be a regular small. She wished that the sizes were more uniform sometimes...like guys sizes, they seemed to be the same no matter what. Emma couldn't help but giggle a little at Silver's snort, but she offered the girl a warm smile to let her know she wasn't really teasing her, it was just a little funny. Emma wasn't really a snorter but she thought that her falling made up for any embarrassing qualities that she didn't have.
"Really?" Emma asked. "Mostly no one knew me in my old school either," she admitted. "I don't know Anderson," she said, but it must be nice to have a friend...or maybe he was her boyfriend. She was blushing. How odd...and Emma had thought that Silver had a thing for Christophe. She didn't really know what to think but didn't really ask either because she didn't want to embarrass Silver further or seem too nosy since she didn't know the girl all that well either.
"Yeah, I guess we do," Emma agreed about having stuff in common. "I was shocked when you were so friendly too. I think you look like you could be popular," she said with a laugh. "I never thought that anyone would think that about me," she admitted. "What's DnD?" she asked, not being familiar with the game. Emma was a nerd, yes, but she was more of a bookworm nerd. She'd never played DnD, and while she had heard of it, she didn't associate the initials with the game that she'd heard of.
