We occasionally have problems with people saying that a post doesn't give them anything to work with. So in order to help people figure out how to write a post that will satisfy your writing partner, here are some helpful tips: A. React to the post before. This doesn't just mean dialog. Did the other character start laughing while eating? Have your character jump back to avoid being hit with flying food. Did the other character move closer to whisper a secret? Shift your weight with anxiety at having your space invaded. B. Act. Give the other person something to respond to. Again, consider body language and facial expressions. Tap the other character on the shoulder, pull him to the side of the room to ask a question, accidentally kick her in the face while she's climbing up the ladder behind you.... C. Describe. Your character isn't just a disembodied voice floating in the ether, right? Describe the setting, describe your character's clothes, describe the weather, describe how your character feels. Does she have a cold? Are his new clothes too stiff and itchy? Remember that unless your character is disabled there are five senses to draw upon! Here are some helpful links:
