Alex had been shocked to see her father at lunch. It had been weird and interesting and distracted her the rest of the day. Although she and Greg had an awesome day with Kai, Alex actually cut the evening short and returned Kai home with a warning to Ashley's parents to warn Ashley her father was in town.
Then Alex left and decided she needed to see if she could stop tis before it got worse. Alex had no idea why her father was in town, but she should have known he was on his way. She knew her father well, and this really should not be a shock, but part of her had hoped...really hoped her father would have listened and let her be.
Now it was time for the confrontation and no doubt a slap or two was headed her way. Her father could be a brutal man to get what he wanted, but that would not stop Alex from standing her ground. It was time she did. It was time he stood up to the man she had feared for so long.
Alex got home wondering if her father was there. He was. She walked in and saw him immediately. Alex closed the door as she stepped in to the waiting room. Alex's father stood there tall, dark and sternly. "Your Aunt is gone for the evening, I told her we needed to speak with one another." His British accent booming.
Alex just stood in the archway, "What are you doing here father? You never should have come."
"And where is that grandson of mine...I was sure you would have him with you?" Mr. Bridgerton spoke in a brutal manor. The word grandson said with disgust.
Alex brushed some hair from her face, "You will not be near my son you understand me. I do not trust you."
Mr. Bridgerton took a few steps closer to his daughter. "As you should not, I am not here to see that child. As far as I am concerned that child does not exist. I let you come here on a childish whim, now it is time you returned home."
Alex had the same stern look on her face as her father did, "That child is my son, Kai, and as far as I am concerned I am home."
Mr. Bridgerton smirked and took a few more steps forward, "I will not argue with a child about such matters. Now you will return and that is final. You know what happens if I am not obeyed. I will not have my own family doing this. I cannot afford it."
Alex took a deep breath. Yes, image was everything to the Viscount. He had to seem like a warm and loving husband, father, and a loving family. It was all about image when it came to the Bridgerton's. "Then you should return without me. I let you run me out of America once...I will not have it happen again."
"Then I have no choice. If you will not listen then perhaps that boy will. Perhaps I should pay him and his family a visit...I would hate for someone else to visit them." Mr. Bridgerton said his voice lower and more desperate.
Alex eyed her father. "Another empty threat I see. You go near Ashley or Kai and I promise you will pay. I know you father...do not forget that. Besides there is nothing you can do to them. Ashely cannot be arrested nor can Kai be sold like you planned originally. Honestly, did you not think I would find out you planned on not only kidnapping my son but selling him. Are you really that much of a monster? That is the only reason I left. Had you not threated to throw Ashley in prison and to sell Kai to the highest bidder I would have stayed here. You are a monster...anything for your image..well how would you image be if they knew about your secret affairs with..."
Now that got a slap. You never, ever commented on Mr. Bridgerton's private affairs. Never. "Now listen here child....I am your father, and that makes me in charge of you. I did then what I had to do. Having a child ruined your life. Children should not raise children."
"Ashely has done a good job so far....but you are too blind to see past your own ambition to care." Alex said holding the side of her face.
Her father smirked and lowered his voice. "Alexandra...you are my child and as such you must do as I say....you know what I am capable of...remember that." With that said Mr. Bridgerton walked by his daughter and placed a kiss on the top of her head. "There will be no argument more...you will leave that bastard child again. He is not your son...you hear me...you have no son..." With that he headed to the door and opened it. "I left the name of my hotel room and the number, call me when you come to your sense...don't make me wait..." He threatened.
Alex had tears in her eyes. She knew her father. She knew his empty threats, but he was a scary man when he wanted to be. But she was a mother and would not let her father take her from Kai again.
