"What time will you be home, Christophe?"
"Not sure, maman," he replied. "Maybe not until this evening but I will let you know if I will be back for dinner... Promise."
"We're having tartiflette...."
Christophe threw his mother a mock glare. "You know that's my favourite, maman!" he retorted and she smiled back at him in response.
He'd dressed carefully but still in a casual style and he scooped up a dark jacket on his way out.
"She must be special," Tristan stated and Christophe turned his glare onto his older brother.
"Who said I'm meeting anyone? And if I am I didn't say it was a girl."
Tristan laughed and went back to reading his comic book.

At ten to two Christophe arrived at the shopping centre. Llyria had told him she was busy until two and he honestly wasn't sure what time exactly she'd arrive. It was far better, in his opinion, to arrive early himself and would happily pass the time waiting with a cup of coffee. It would give him a chance to think of what they could do this afternoon. He had an idea or two but would see if Lia had any preference.

After leaving Tamika, Lia made her way back to the Mall where she had met Christophe a few days before. She saw him the moment she stepped off the bus as they had met while she was walking to the bus stop. "Bonjour, Christophe," she said and skipped over to him. "How are you?" she asked brightly, immediately taking a deep breath as he was so gorgeous.I was really excited when I got your text. This is my first date. I had to hide it from my brothers or they would have locked me in the closet. My mother wouldn't mind though, but brother's are so much more protective. luckily Jandro went to the beach and Saint was busy with his boyfriend. What are we going to do?" she asked, her dark blue eyes shining like sunlight on the water.

"Salut bel ange. Comment ça va?" Christophe smiled up at Lia as he spoke before he got to his feet. "Your brothers would have been mad?" He grinned and winked at Lia. "Perhaps they have reason to worry," he added in a low voice. Problem was, though, the laughter in his eyes easily told Lia he was teasing her. "You look... very lovely," he added. "But as for places to go... I came up with a couple of ideas but wanted to see what you liked the sound of the most. There is the carnival at Santa Monica... but I think there will be a lot of people there from school and I am selfish," he told Lia. "I wish to have you all to myself. There is also a natural history museum not all that far away. Or the Sealife place? I also think there is a medieval castle not too far down the coast. My mother has lent me her car so we aren't tied to this area alone. Do you have a favourite from those?" he asked. "Whatever we do, though, I would like to be back here before 5 as I want to take you to a place inside the shopping centre."
Christophe wasn't going to tell her more than that as it would ruin any surprise.
"Would you like something to drink before we head off?" Christophe had finished his coffee but would be more than happy to have another if she wanted one for herself. There was no such thing as having too many cups of coffee. Not in his eyes anyway! "And if you aren't held to a time maybe we can even get dinner later?" Was he pushing his luck? Perhaps... but he really hoped she'd say yes.

Lia chuckled and flipped her hair playfully, they can get mad all they want, I can beat them both down," she announced boastfully. It was true though, mainly because she didn't fight fair while they were both careful of her feminine delicacy. "I have never been to the Natural history Museum and it sounds interesting. Lia couldn't imagine where in the mall he wanted to go unless he was a shopper as Jandro was. "I left dinner for my brothers so I am free until 11 when my curfew is. I wouldn't mind a bottle of water I could take with me if that's all right.
Lia looked at christophe and couldn't believe he really wanted to go out with her, unless it had just been that she was lucky enough to be the first girl he met and didn't want to keep looking. She decided that was okay. Laziness was better than not having a date with him at all.

"Water? You're an easy to please date," Christophe answered with a grin. He got up to pay for his coffee and bought Lia her drink at the same time. Dinner as well...? He was indeed striking it lucky! "So, the Natural History Museum it is," he said as they left the cafe. "And perhaps another time I can rent a small boat and we can check out the area from the water... I mean, if you want to do this again." Christophe laughed slightly. "I should maybe save asking that until later as you might declare this to be our one and only outing together!"
In good spirits the pair headed for the shopping mall's parking area where Christophe had left his mum's car. He hoped to soon get a part-time job to be able to save up for one for himself... but that would only happen after he'd bought that inflateable he'd seen down in a nearby marina.
Minutes later they were heading for a neighboring town where the museum was located. "So you are tougher than you look, yes?" he asked as he drove, shooting Lia a quick sideways glance. "I mean, able to fend off both your brothers... I need to be careful of what I say!" He was, as always, teasing... but not in any way maliciously.

My brothers are male chauvinists even though they are gay, they think they have to be gentle with me. They should know better. I usually win because I am not so gentle except with Saint because of his blindness. Even him, I just do my best not to take advantage of his disability.Jandro is cocky and needs taken down occasionally so I do not hold back with him. If I baby him, he will lose his edge.

He nodded as Lia spoke and Christophe drove on towards the museum. He pulled up to park in the area provided and then half turned to face his passenger. "I hope a museum isn't boring," he said with a flash of uncertainty. Would she have preferred to see a film or do something along those lines? Just because he liked museums and the like didn't mean everyone did.
Her response was to throw him a smile before jumping out of the car. Christophe smiled and followed suit...

Christophe peered at the brochure he'd been given at the ticket booth. It detailed the layout of the museum and explained a little about some of the exhibits. "Prehistoric, insects, birds. gemstones... Where do we start?" he asked. There was so much to see but they had the entire afternoon and so there was no need to rush. "And look! There are two live turtles here. The bigger one is 18 inches! I'd love to see them if we have time! They are fed at 4..." He glanced at his watch. Not for a good hour and a half.
He looked at Lia. "So where shall it be first? Or perhaps you prefer the African section? For myself I want to see it all," he admitted with a wry laugh.

Lia blushed and then smiled warmly at Christophe. "I would like to see it all as well. Especially the turtles. They are a very underrated reptile." She had loved them since she was little and had found a painted turtle and made it her pet. She had done a science report on turtles and gotten an A which endeared them further to her for previously she had not done well in science. She loved how they carried their homes with them and that they laid eggs. I like birds as well, but then it is likely that birds came from reptiles so, really I am not straying. I used to have green lizards, but Jandro let them out by mistake. I think they still live on the screened in porch. occasionally I see them whiz past I think. Coco had one hanging from her lip the other day. She was very insulted." she explained to Christophe who she had an idea would understand why she was telling him. Reptiles spoke to her heart something about them. She thought maybe someday she would have a rescue mission for abandoned reptiles. She thought he felt the same way about whales. "How are you doing saving for your boat?My friend Genny volunteers at the aquarium on the weekend. She might be able to introduce you to her boss. They sometimes sell their old equipment."

To hear Lia talk about reptiles warmed Christophe's heart. She seemed passionate about them and loving any and everything to do with the water himself he listened attentively. "Aaah... the boat. Not so well," he admitted. "I have some money saved from when I had a part time job in Whistler. I used to show the tourists around the ski slopes in winter and did mountain tours for summer hikers. It didn't pay much, though," he added with a slight shrug. "I did get a bit from the sale of my old boat but wish I could have brought that one down here with me when we moved. It was a lovely craft. Nothing big or with any pretty frills but it was solid and never failed me."
They wandered through the room and towards the prehistorical section and he glanced at the hugs keleton of a bird-like creature as they went. "I thought I might call by the marina tomorrow and see if they have any work that needs doing. I like to be outdoors if I can," the French boy explained. The thought of working inside a shop or other similar building left him with a cold knot in the pit of his stomach.
"But the aquarium idea is good!" he enthused. Most of that was outside and besides, with the large tanks it wouldn't feel as suffocating as most other jobs he'd seen advertised in the area.
"Thank you, Llyria," he said with a bright smile. "I'd be grateful if you could speak to your friend. Maybe if I get a job there you can come and visit. I would even get you in for free," he finished on a laugh.

Lia was looking at a Diarama of stegosaurus and a clutch of eggs when her phone buzzed indicating a text message. Lia looked at it since Christophe was looking at another exhibit and she always worried that Saint needed something.Ever since Jonah had gotten upset and stormed out she didn't completely trust him to stay with Saint and she knew her brother well enough to know he wouldn't call unless it was an emergency.
After reading the message she moved over to join Christophe. "Are you going bowling tomorrow, there is a big thing going on over at 9 pins tomorrow. Most of the school is going. Some of my friends are going in costume. Would you like to join us? We're going to meet in the arcade before noon. I have a flamenco dancer costume I will probably wear, it was my aunt's." she asked, hoping he would decide to come. It would be great to have the handsome French boy on her arm. She had never had a boyfriend before and had always envied her friends that had someone to join them at school events. She knew she would look good in her aunt's costume too, it would be nice for Christophe to see her looking feminine and exotic. So far he had only seen her American side.
