Colby sat at the pier looking out over the ocean. He felt like an ass. What happened had happened. But then why didn't Cat see the kiss coming from Renton? Why didn't she just tell him right out that she was off the market?
He checked his phone. There was Cat's message just as plain as day. She wanted to be away from him. Damn that Renton! He wanted more than a few words with him!
The gulls flew over head, making their caw sound almost as if they were mocking Colby. "Beat it! Get out of here!" He yelled at the birds, which didn't seem to phase them in any way, shape or form. He looked for something to throw at them.
Someone had discarded a soda can. He picked it up and threw it at the flock. They all squawked and fluttered about only to resume their position.
It was like a jury of them versus him. Everyone was finding him guilty of some heinous crime. He stared for a moment at the flock, his anger starting to over flow into sadness. Tears started to flow from his eyes. "Cat, Cat, what can I do?"

"What do you mean What can I do?" Sidra's voice was clipped, on edge. She'd had a rough morning what with Fallon and Sebastian, and getting the latter of the two calmed down. Her patience was worn thin and the whole of her body language said as much.
"You two fight or something?" It was a rhetorical question. Meant purely for the purposes of keeping up with appearances. That there was something wrong was written plain as day on Colby's face. His tears, the slump of his shoulders, and the utter defeat in his voice.
None of that was acceptable.
Not now. Not ever.
The problem with crying over a choice was that when you were done you still had to choose and you'd lost time in the process. Well that was only one of the problems, but it was the one Sidra was going with at the moment. What was it with the world today? One monster right after another, one obstacle followed by more. Maybe everyone should have just stayed in bed and slept. That would have solved a whole slew of problems.
And created a whole slew more.
"You need to start talking sense, Colby. What. Happened?" Perhaps her tone wasn't as gentle as it should have been, but Si made up for it by placing a hand on her friend's fiance's shoulder.

Colby wasn't expecting an answer so when it happened, it startled him. He turned to see Si there, looking more agitated than usual.
"It...its more than a fight." He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. Where to begin with this complicated ordeal.
It was odd how Cat and Si were friends. They were opposite of each other. Cat was the sweet, girl next door type and Si was, well, almost like something from Charles Addams only more updated. Maybe thats what it was, being radically different sort of made them attracted to each other, in a friendly way of course.
He lightly chewed on the inside of his cheek for a moment. "She...she kissed another guy, and not one of those little pecks either. Jesus, I mean, it could have gone to more. She called me to pick her up after it happened and when she said what happened, I lost it. We argued about it on the drive back to her house then I get this text today." He took out his phone showing Cat's message saying they shouldn't see each other for awhile.
He felt anger starting to come up again. "Damn that Renton."
