Roxy was bored. It was Saturday afternoon and she didn't really have any plans and all her mom wanted to do at home was plan her auditions for the week so needless to say, Roxy was all for getting out of the house.
She still needed to get her bike tire fixed so she decided to go for a walk, heading through the neighborhoods. She walked a few blocks, in no particular direction really, just wandering aimlessly. It was then that she passed the playground by her house. She hadn't really been since she was younger, but she couldn't help but notice that while there were a few little kids in the sandbox, the swings were oddly empty. Score!
With a new plan of action (at least for a little while), Roxy headed toward the swings. She jumped on one in the center and started to swing, pumping her legs back and forth, making herself go higher and higher. With the wind whipping through her hair, Roxy felt rather invincible, having fun, just like she was a little kid again. Oh wait...she'd wanted to start acting more mature...oh well, that could wait...

Elend was bored and forbidden to ride her father's bike so pretty much grounded as she hated public transportation. Walking around she had noticed a rather pretty girl also wandering and began to follow her. It was a childish past time she had started as a child after reading the book Harriet the spy. The girl stopped a a play ground and began to swing, so Elend went to sit on the swing next to her and half-heartedly began to swing as well. She rarely exerted much energy so she wasn't reaching the heights her 'mark' was, but it was nice to feel the breezes from the ocean and idly swing as she made up stories in her head about the dark-haired girl. Her father was the head of a drug cartel that brought cocaine from South America. She didn't even know how her father made his money, but was used to getting whatever she wanted from big men with sharp cold eyes who carried guns under their jackets. Finally it seemed she was noticed so said in her husky German accent, "he recht Vogel". It was kind of lame and she doubted she was understood, but at least she spoke.

Roxy hadn't really noticed the girl following her, but she did noticed as the girl who looked about her age, perhaps a little older, sat down on the swing next to her moments after she began to swing. It was odd...almost as if she had been followed, but Roxy wasn't quite sure that that was what had happened. Roxy had never seen the girl before, so why would she have followed her?
As the girl started to swing along with her, Roxy glanced over to get a better look. Yeah, she'd definitely had never seen her before. She said something that Roxy didn't quite get. It was quick and she didn't quite get that it was another language...she more thought that she hadn't heard her properly. She slowed down to a stop. "Sorry," she said. "I didn't catch what you said," she told the other girl, pushing her hair behind her ear.

"Just said hi," Elend said without even a blush. "I am Elend Muller. I just moved here a couple of days ago from Germany. You looked like you might be around my age and I am so bored. So I decided it was worth following you and trying to make friends. If you would rather not, I understand," she said softly, hoping the other girl would be brave enough to take a chance befriending a stranger. Elend really didn't want to start school on monday knowing absolutely no one. It was bad enough she didn't know English that well, she would look freaky as it was, but to be absolutely friendless she would be like a total reject.

"Oh, well hi," Roxy grinned. She listened as the other girl introduced herself and explained her situation. So she had been followed. Hmmm. Well, the girl seemed harmless enough so Roxy decided to just go with it. Plus, Roxy was always up for meeting new people and it would be good to have a friend to hang out with when the others were previously engaged. Not to mention that Roxy wasn't the type of person to really turn anyone down.
"No, it's cool," Roxy told her. "I'm Roxy. I live just a few blocks that way," she said, pointing behind her. "Just moved from Germany, wow, that's pretty far," Roxy said. "I've never been anywhere in Europe," she admitted. "What brought you out to LA?" she asked, wondering if it was something like that guy she'd met the other day who had moved from Brazil or wherever for his dad's work.
"Yeah, how old are you anyway?" Roxy asked. They did appear to be around the same age. "I'm 15," she said, not mentioning that she was still a freshmen just in case the other girl was older. She seemed like she might be a little older. "What school are ya gonna be going to anyway?" she asked, adding quickly, "Sorry for the 20 questions, I talk a lot sometimes," she said with a smile, being her normal friendly self.

Elend smiled, perfectly happy with Roxy's conversation. "I'm 14 though I rarely admit that. I can get away with 18 so I usually do but I suppose I would rather admit I am 14 than have people think I stayed back 4 years. Young or stupid... Young wins out. I will be going to Gould. Oh I did meet someone last night. Tyler Durnham. He thinks I am 18 or older," she said with smirk. Tyler never seemed to pick up on her age even when he popped her cherry. She was glad. She had quite enjoyed spending time with the pretty millionaire. And she thought he would prove quite useful in the future.

Roxy smiled. "We'll be in the same class then--I'm a freshman at Gould," she admitted, only because the other girl was equally young. She did seem older though. "I've pulled off 16 before but never really tried 18...I wonder if I could pass for it," she said. Roxy had thought that she'd looked a little more mature that day...as she was wearing a cotton ruffled mini skirt and a tank top, but compared to the way Elend dressed, Roxy still felt very juvenile. She looked at the other girls clothes, making a mental note that dressing that way would probably make her look older.
"Tyler Durnham!" Roxy said, her eyes wide. "He's a senior at Gould. He's like the most popular guy in school," she said, gushing slightly. She didn't have a crush on him or anything like a lot of girls did, but she still thought that he was very good looking and had witnessed his charm before, even if she'd never really talked to him. She doubted that he even knew who she was, something that normally didn't bother her though. Roxy was usually cool just doing her own thing, not paying attention to anyone that wasn't in her immediate group of friends, but she did have a little wild streak that usually got suppressed by her friends' immaturity. But seeing the way Elend dressed and acted...who she'd hooked up with...it was tempting to Roxy...it fed that rebellious side of hers.
"But that's totally cool you'll be going to Gould. Maybe we'll have some classes together," Roxy smiled, eager to befriend this girl.

"I would really like that. We're probably around the same size. Sometime we should check it out and maybe trade some clothing. Mine are mostly cast offs, but i have some pretty cool ones I think." Elend had no compunction about digging in wealthy people's trash. It was fun and she found some wicked things including jewelry and evening clothing. A lot of rich people didn't want their stuff but didn't want poor people wearing it either so they didn't donate to charities which she thought was a shame, so she helped herself.Just before holidays was a good time to go. Valentines day had just passed so now she was waiting for Easter which was a good time because ladies would be getting rid of winter things for new spring stuff. "Tyler was great, he helped me get into Slut Strut that strip place on Beverly Hills Blvd. It's really nice and expensive. He knew the bouncer and just walked me right passed him. No problem with drinks either. Must be nice to have lots of money," she said half boasting and half moaning. She would rather be able to get in on her own.

"Yeah, sounds great!" Roxy said enthusiastically. In the back of her mind she wondered what Thad and Ezzie said if she started dressing more like the other girl, but kind of didn't care. She loved her best friends but sometimes she wanted to do more than just go along with their schemes and antics. She wanted to go out to clubs...maybe even get drunk. She just wanted to experience it all...mostly because she knew it would majorly piss off her parents if they ever got wind of it.
"Oh, right...I've passed by that place," Roxy said, thrown off a little by the fact that the other girl was going to a strip club. She'd already admitted to hooking up with Tyler though, so maybe she just liked girls too, which didn't really bother Roxy. At one point she actually considered trying to date a girl to piss of her mom, but it kind of never happened and the idea had sort of fizzled. But despite the fact that a strip club wasn't Roxy's first choice of club to sneak into, she could already tell that this girl was cool. She was going to bars and hanging out with older boys. So, she figured she might as well just go along with it. "That's really awesome," she said. "You think you could get in again?" she asked, deciding that getting in anywhere that she'd be allowed to drink would be cool. Of course Roxy had never even had a sip of alcohol before, but that didn't mean that she didn't want to try it.
