Anderson spent the morning completely focused on the adventures ahead and put all thoughts of Silver's boy out of his head. If there was one place he could escape to, it was easily Faerun. Petty real life problems couldn't hold a candle to the excitement of dragons and wizards, halflings and drow, gods and demigods.
He made sure the kitchen was well-stocked with all manners of sodas and snack foods, making sure to get extra Mountain Dew. A few folding tables were set up in together the large den, affording enough seats for the players expected to arrive. Pencils, character sheets, and extra pieces of paper were placed all over the table save for the head, where Anderson set up his screen and a smaller tray table for the piles of his books. He had a few old copies of the 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Players Handbook, and all of the "Complete Guides to..." various classes, in case anyone wanted to make something a bit more unique. He had both the 3rd and the new 4th edition Forgotten Realms Handbooks as well, simply as source material for anyone interested.
The doorball rang and Anderson glanced at his watch. 2:30, excellent. The first of the guests were arriving, and hopefully everyone would be able to make their characters by 3:30. It shouldn't be too hard, since everyone was starting at level 3.
Almost an hour later, nearly everyone Anderson had expected to show had arrived, Levi Rubenstein being late as usual. Though he could see some people still looking up info and scribbling notes down, he decided to start.
"Okay, everyone. You can keep working on your characters, but for those that are finished can we go around the circle and talk about them a little bit? Just so I know and the group knows who everyone is. The character sheets can be passed to me so I can look them over and take some notes for myself. All you need to say is your character's name, race, class, alignment, and anything else about them you feel like sharing. Things everyone would know about them. Keep in mind your characters are just meeting for the first time, unless you've talked with someone else about any history. Okay, who wants to start?" Anderson glanced around the square table expectantly, excited to hear from his group.

Bree waited to see if anyone else would speak first and then said, "I am Bree, but my character is Periwinkle Thistlebottom and she is a halfling rogue with the Artful Dodger destiny path. I used a autopick method and added the point buy points. She is configured for acrobatics and thief skills. I am new to this so please be patient with me." People kept looking at her as if expecting more, so she blushed and tried to think of more to say. "Periwinkle's mother was a pick pocket and a prostitute, so Periwinkle grew up in a tavern in a bad part of town. Some of her skills were learned early as a natural extension of trying to survive. Escape wasn't always possible and as such she feels males are untrustworthy and will not extend her hand in friendship to one unless he has proven himself beyond a shadow of doubt. She would rather sleep with a goat, which she will tell you emphatically if the subject ever comes up. She is pretty for a halfling, like a pretty baby doll with golden curls and lilac colored eyes. She is not above using her looks to distract possible marks.

Dylan stared at his character sheet and occasionally peeked at the other players. It seemed to him that there were a lot of new players which was fine with him, it would give him time to adjust to a new group. His previous group had not had more than a few female players and they had not been as pretty or assured seeming as the ones here. He had nothing against female players, in fact he liked that they tended to bring new dimensions to a game making it more roleplaying thant just hack n' slash or rolling dice. His best friend Maya had played a female Barbarian who gained money for her hope chest by arm wrestling whenever they stopped in a tavern. It had been amusing and got them in many interesting situations, when some ungentlemanly NPCs had objected to losing to a woman. "I'm Dylan Katz. I have just moved here from New York City. My character is Denasi Orbial a female Shadar Kai Sword-Mage. Denasi is about 5'5", weighing 105 lbs of solid muscle. She has alabaster white skin, raven black corn rows and a variety of tribal type of tattoos that tell a story over her body. She wears loose clothing that leaves her freedom to movewith lithe agility. She has soft tan leather dancer's pants like chamois cloth and a bodice of the same materials, the sleeves are separate and attached at the shoulders with leather laces. They are loose designed to foil slices to her arms and entangle blades. She is exotic and beautiful, but very austere and grim. She is a product of the ShadowFell and has not escaped its effects unscathed. She left when her parents tried to force her to marry a powerful warrior who coveted her magical powers. She is in love with a bard who spend most of her time wandering. She hopes to run into her someday in her travels, but it is not her main motivator. Like most Shadar Kai she seeks adventure and excitement to remind her she is still living and not fading into nothing.

Silver was not nervous...she was excited. It was dungeons and dragons time. The best time. This was her stress reief. Some people had sports, others had hobbies she had D&D. Silver made sure she got to Anderson's palce exactly on time not amoment too soon. She smiled as Anderson answered the door. "Miss me?" She asked him since she just saw him the night before. "Last night was fun, we need a repeat, but now...lets play."
Silver walked in and removed her jean jacket to reveal a shirt that read "May the Schwatz be with you" Yes..Spaceballs was the best. She wore jeans and sneakers. Sivler did not care much for being dressed up and pretty. She liked comfortable clothes and thats what she was wearing.
When more people showed Silver found a seat closest to Anderson cause she was nervous. People always made her nervous. She stuck close to him most of the day. Anderson always had a calming effect on her, "I guess I will introduce mine next." She had finsihed writing. "Her name is Danika." Silver started and then explained that hers was a wizard or a witch depending how you put it.
She explained her character was blonde, tall basically in the end the character was just a sexier version of Silver. The way she wish she could dress now and then. It was nice to be sexy at times. Or at least be considered sexy. Silver explained her power for being able to tell who was on what side and other powers and her weaknesses.

Dungeons and Dragons with friends was a welcome reprieve after all the events of the last few days. Even the brunch, which had somehow miraculously survived the argument that had threatened to break out, had been thoroughly overwhelming for a boy not used to mingling with the upper echelons of high school society. He'd been glad to flee to Anderson's with his girlfriend as soon a possible, directing her to the younger boy's house as he'd been there many times.
"Hey, guys, hope it's okay if Bree joins in," He greeted his friends, settling down beside her. Sometimes the cheerleaders and jocks were the butt of rather cruel jokes from those socially lower, and he didn't think it would actually make him more popular with his current group to be dating one of a group commonly referred to as the enemy, but she was interested in learning about nerd culture so surely that would count in her favor.
He was surprised when she was the first to respond to Anderson's query on characters, listening as the group took turns describing their largely female party. He was going to be so outnumbered unless the remaining players had males.
He jumped in surprise when Bree elbowed him in the side. "Huh? Oh, my turn? Umm, okay. Umm. My character is Madthen of Damara, like his king he's a follower of Ilmater, but unlike Gareth he's a Paladin of The Holy Order of Suffering instead of The Golden Cup. He's Lawful Good. Umm, please don't ask me to describe what he's wearing in detail because I honestly was paying more attention to stats than fashion."

"Were we supposed to detail their wardrobe?"Bree asked, feeling badly that she missed a part she probably would have been good at. She could see Periwinkle dressed in the color she was named after in one of those barmaid kind of outfits with a very tight corset and fluffy sleeves. Skirts probably wouldn't be good for battles however so she amended that vision to include pants with over the knee black boots with turned down flaps. She still had the tight corset which acted as leather armor. To her it seemed this was going very slowly, but some of the players hadn't made their characters a head of time. She was surprised how eager she was to actually play the game.

Levi hurried over to Anderson's house, running just a tad bit late. He had been waiting for Denny, but the heavier set boy had apparently gotten a ride from his mom and neglected to tell Levi. He cranked his moped as fast as he felt comfortable going, which was barely over the speed limit. The purr from the engine sounded more like a high pitched whine, but Levi was in a hurry.
Luckily he arrived in time, while people were still making characters. He knew what he wanted to make, but he had to wait for a while to get a copy of the PHB to get all the specifics down. As others described their characters, he frantically scribbled down notes and details, hoping to finish by the time it was his turn. He had just written the last feat when he glanced up and saw everyone looking at him.
The number of girls in the group intimidated the shy boy, but D&D was a comfort to him. He took a deep breath and began. "My character is Grumnar Hammershield, Dwarven Priest of Marthammor Duin. He is Neutral Good. He was born to a family of Dwarven merchants, but when they were killed by goblins while traveling in a merchant caravan to the Dale lands, Grumnar decided to join the priesthood of Marthammor Duin in order to help protect the merchant class travelers who couldn't afford enough protection for the wares they carried. Thus it was that after his obligatory time spent in the great monastery of Duin, Grumnar Hammershield left the confines of his mountainous home and went in search of adventure. "
Denny, who was sitting next to Levi, followed him. "Umm, I made a barbarian. He's a wood elf named Thanrindel. He is from the Tangled Trees, and has a deep ditrust of humans. He has studied many different types of weapons, though he generally prefers to wield a pair of hand axes and fights with an aggressive style. He left his homeland because he wanted to learn more fighting styles to become an even greater warrior." Denny smiled, filled with pride at his creation. He glanced at Levi, glad they had made such different characters. He and Levi often made characters that didn't get along.
