Dare's mouth dropped open and he looked totally stunned when Brit gave the other girl permission to smack her boyfriend. "I suppose I shouldn't just assume you know who I am. I am Dare Madison and my dad is the drummer for Toxic Religion. He has gotten his band to agree to do a benefit concert for Bree's new project. He is also asking that local bands offer their time to act as the opening act that night," Dare said feeling a bit intimidated asking her. He had actually checked out her group at the local store after Evan had told him about her. "I was hoping you would be willing to submit your demo for consideration. I have an application with me and if you need help putting together a demo, we have equipment and I can offer my help. Evan's my best friend and recently he basically saved my life so I would like to repay him by helping you out." He breathed a sigh of relief when he got that all out. He didn't understand why it was so hard to talk to girls, its not like he wanted to get with Brit or anything.

Brittany didn't realize that Dare was there when she gave Aly permission to hit Evan so she wasn't sure why he seemed so nervous. Sure she didn't hang with him much but she knew he was friends with Evan so she didn't see why he seemed so intimidated.
She listened to him speak about the band...his dad's band...and her band maybe playing at a benefit. Was that what this brunch was about? Brittany honestly hadn't paid attention at all to what it was about. She'd been more concentrated on just going to annoy Aly.
"Well...Zac's still hurt, but I'll check with him...see if he's up for it and if he is, we can definitely submit a demo," she told Dare. "Wait...what?" she asked about the whole life saving thing. She hadn't heard about this. When had this happened and why hadn't Evan told her?
"Evan saved your life?" she asked. She pushed her hair behind her ears a little nervous. She didn't know why she was nervous. Perhaps it was because Evan had saved someone's life and hadn't told her. What else hadn't he told her? Was there more to the kiss with that Syn girl that he wasn't telling her? Brittany was becoming way paranoid and she didn't like it.

After Aly left, Dare moved closer to the car and said softly. "Do you promise not to tell anyone about this?" he asked and once she had nodded, he climbed in the car with her. "I was really in a bad place Thursday night and I took some pills... It was stupid, but I am not sure I would have lived if Evan hadn't been there. I am not really even sure why he was there. I thought I was alone. He got me fixed up and then talked me around and promised to help me out. He really is a great guy. I mean we didn't really know each other that well before that.Anyway, he and Taki are my best friends now and I would like to help you out... because I can and well I want to pay him back.

Brittany listened to his story. It didn't make sense. If he was helping Dare on Thursday...when had he and Syn kissed. Brittany wasn't putting the facts together, mostly because as far as she knew, Dare was an only child. She just didn't get it. Something wasn't adding up...
"Well...it was good he was there," she said quietly. But why was her there? Even Dare didn't know why he was there. "Was...was anyone...with him?" she asked. "Sorry, that probably makes no sense..." she said shaking her head. She wasn't sure she wanted to tell Dare about Evan's cheating. She didn't want to go around blabbing about what happened. She'd told Eddie and Aly but Eddie was her friend, not Evan's, and Aly was her step-sister. She didn't think it was appropriate to start telling his friends. That was his deal if he wanted to fess up and say what he did to them.
"Uh...well, thanks for the offer of help. It would be really great if the band could participate. Like I said though, I have to make sure Zac is okay first. If not, we could always do something acoustic without the drums, but otherwise we'll need him in better health. But like I said, I'll talk to him and Ian and J.J. and see what everyone wants to do." Brittany had been wanting to get together with Ian anyway. He was her best friend and she was feeling really crappy about this whole Evan thing. And now with the whole saving Dare's life thing, something wasn't making sense either.

Dare felt some pressure in his chest release though he wasn't sure why. "I think he was with Syn though I don't really remember that well. I heard her scream and then suddenly I was in the shower with Evan... Nothing kinky though I promise and Syn was making me throw up with some really vile tasting stuff and then she left to make coffee. They seemed kind of mad or uncomfortable with each other though. It was a weird vibe.
He was starting to feel that weird disconnected feeling like he had that night. It didn't make anything clearer, it was just like a series of flash pictures. A slideshow. yeah that was it. "I wish I could make more sense of it for you. I have got to get home and set up for the jam party. Are you going to come, it would be great to have you there. I haven't ever jammed with people my own age. I am really excited. I hope we are good enough together to maybe start something."

Brittany felt her chest tighten when Dare said that Evan had been with Syn. Although she heard the rest of his story, she wasn't really listening. Evan had been with Syn at the time? What had Dare seen? Did he know about it? No...he couldn't possibly. He wouldn't be talking about it now if he had...
Brittany took a deep breath. It was pretty clear that she was upset, but she didn't want to explain it. She didn't want to talk about it...not with Dare. He seemed upset too...probably about the pills or whatever that he said he took and the last thing she needed was to mess him up more.
"Um...yeah...jam session. No...no I can't come," Brittany said, shaking her head. "I actually have to...go," she told him, getting out of the car. She waited for him to get out as well and the made sure the doors were locked. "Um...I'll...uh...let you know about the band doing the benefit. Have fun with your jam session or whatever," Brittany said. Her chest was tight and she felt sick to her stomach. Maybe she was over reacting but she just couldn't stand to think about Evan and Syn anymore.
"Anyway...I have to take off...bye," she said rushing the words. It was clear by the look on her face that she was upset about something as she quickly took off, walking at a record speed. After she walked for a bit she realized that she should have told Dare not to tell Evan about talking to her, but it was too late. Brittany was already too far away and Dare was gone. Brittany continued to walk, not really caring that it was a long way home and she hadn't eaten anything yet today. She just needed to get away from it all and the walking had a calming effect which she really, really needed.
