Character Name: Kayla Hannah Whitaker
Nickname: Kay, Whitaker, Whit
Age: 15
Birthday: July 21st
Place of birth: Philadelphia, PA
School: Silver
Grade: Sophomore
Appearance: Kayla is very much the girl next door. On paper, she is very ordinary. She has long brown hair with overgrown bangs she likes to push to one side in one long swoop, brown eyes, and fair skin with light freckles that come more parent when she spends too much time in the sun. She's of average height, 5'5" and very thin with small curves that are still growing to their full potential. She is a very pretty girl, but its in a very natural way that isn't overdone or that necessarily makes her the first girl that's noticed when someone walks into the room. While she does wear makeup, its very subtle and natural looking.
Kayla's style is as simplistic as her appearance. She likes to be comfortable and wears jeans a lot with fitted T-shirts, or nicer tops, usually in a comfortable jersey knit, usually with a cardigan to keep her warm. For shoes she prefers flats or sneakers, she isn't opposed to wearing heels or even dressing up, in fact she likes getting dressed up from time to time, but she usually doesn't see the purpose when she'd just going to school. She's usually very casual.
Personality: Kayla tends to be on the quiet side. She comes off as shy, which she isn't really, she's just not always the most outgoing of girls. She's friendly but not necessarily the one who will strike up a conversation with someone she doesn't know. She isn't against parties or anything like that, but Kayla tends to be on the more innocent side of the specter preferring just hanging out with friends and going to the mall or movies. She also really enjoys sports. She's not super athletic, she can run fast and enjoys track, but mostly she's a sports spectator. She likes watching football, baseball, soccer, and basketball.
She's pretty much a very normal 15 year old girl. She doesn't really have much experience dating and is a little confused in that area. She's straight, or at least she says she is, and she's always had crushes on guys, but she also is noticing that girls are really attractive too and she isn't really sure what that means. She thinks she might be bi, but she hasn't really shared that with anyone yet. She's afraid of being judged. Plus, Kayla tends to be a private person. While she isn't secretive or anything, she isn't known as a gossiper or one to tell the whole school who she has a crush on. She mostly keeps to herself as well as her friends.

Writing Sample: Kayla stepped off the bus and headed down the street. She was lucky that the bus picked her up two blocks from her house and dropped her off only a block from school. Still, she couldn't wait until she was old enough to drive. That would certainly be exciting. But for now, the bus was fine.
She headed down the street, toward the school building, cutting through the parking lot. Although Kayla was a Silver student, they'd been at Gould long enough that she was getting used to it. While she'd gotten lost a few times during the first week, she now knew her way around and headed straight toward her locker. She grabbed her books for her first period science class, which wasn't her favorite. Science could just be so boring sometimes. At least she had PE next period. Kayla liked PE because she usually got to run around. She wasn't the best at everything they did but she was good enough not to get picked last or anything.
With her books in hand, she headed down the hall toward her classroom. It was mostly empty but there were a few students scattered about. Kayla took a seat somewhere in the middle of the room and slouched down, waiting for her class to begin.
