The ride to the movie was quite enjoyable by Anderson's standards. Silver seemed to have forgotten about the bath towel incident and was in a great humor, which always made him smile. In fact, it was very hard for him not to be smiling in Silver's presence. Sure, there were a few girls at school he'd like to date, but none were like Silver.
They arrived in more than enough time to get great seats, since the movie wasn't incredibly popular after getting some bad reviews. Still, Anderson had high hopes. He really liked the short story it was based on, and though it obviously had to be much different, it was still a great starting point.
Then Silver mentioned a guy! Anderson disappeared into his head, nodding along though he was barely hearing the words that followed “Christophe.” The new guy, the French guy. Well, one of the French guys, there were two new French kids, oddly enough. Still, Anderson had seen Christophe and he was a good looking guy, fit, likeable to girls, everything he was not. And another girl? Was... was Silver trying to set him up on a double date with a girl so that he could hang out with her and Christophe?
Anderson's mind kept inflating the terrible thoughts that were bouncing around his head, and as the movie started he was barely paying attention. For slightly over two hours his own mind tortured him more than Stephen King ever could. He wasn't opposed to the idea of Silver dating, as he had almost given up any hope of her thinking of him in that context. And he wasn't opposed to the idea of himself dating, other than the sort of terrifying idea of actually dating a girl. But that she had absolutely no qualms with going on a double date and forcing Anderson to watch her be extremely happy with some guy who was way better than him in every way? She'd probably ditch D&D to hang out with this guy, on his stupid boat!
As the movie ended, Anderson took one last gulp of his soda, noticing he had hardly drank any, before setting it down and slowly looking over to see Silver's reaction to the movie and hoping she was entirely oblivious to the fact he had barely paid any attention to the movie.
