Once the bell rang, ending school for the day, Ben wasted no time. There was a quick trip to his locker to discard his books--he wouldn't be doing any homework this weekend, and then he was off. He quickly headed to the parking lot. He and Eden had driven in separately today since she had plans with Cole after school. Ben kind of wanted to check on them...make sure his sister wasn't getting in over her head or anything, but he had more important things to attend to. He had a meeting with his dealer to replenish his supply for the weekend.
His dealer was the son of one of his father's friends. They grew pot at their house so always had more than enough. Plus, it was good stuff and Ben being an avid stoner, preferred the highest quality. He was meeting the guy at Santa Monica pier and he drove there quickly, and with excitement. He'd given the rest of his stash to Eden so he was completely dry. The last thing he wanted was to miss the other boy.
Once he arrived there, he didn't really feel like looking around for parking, so forked over the $10 to park in the lot by the pier. It was worth it. He hurried up the steps and walked down towards the end of the pier where people liked to fish. That's where he was meeting the other boy. Spotting him, Ben smiled and headed over.
They made the exchange quickly and covertly, sticking around to chat for a bit just so it wouldn't seem suspicious. His dealer headed off first and Ben stood there for a few minutes longer, pretending to watch the fishermen until he got too antsy for his high. Taking in a deep breath of the salty air he turned and headed back down the pier, walking along the edge and watching as the water turned towards beach. That's when he saw her...the girl from the other day, with the long blonde hair that had been just as enthusiastic about weed and Chinese food as he was.
He knew that she wouldn't really hear him if he yelled out to her...he was too far up from the beach, so he walked down to the end of the pier and headed back down towards the parking lot but by passed his car to head towards the sand. It was her, right? Ben had been really high, but she had the same build and the same black streaks in her hair as the girl had the day before. Syn her name was. As he got a little closer, he smiled, confirming that it was indeed the same girl.
"Hey you," he said still smiling as he approached her. "I wish I'd known you were here. I just met up with my dealer. I could have introduced you," he said. "But I did just get a shit tone of weed if you're interested. I don't mind sharing," he said with a smile as he dug his flip flop clad feet into the sand.

Syn was wearing jeans that showed more skin than fabric and a black bikini top with white flowers. Her guitar case was at her feet as she played guitar and occasionally someone would throw some change in it. She wasn't seriously busquing but if they wanted to thank her fiscally she wasn't goin to argue with them. She had been there several hours just playing whatever her fingers led her to. She still couldn't get the picture of Brittany's betrayed eyes out of her mind and she almost missed hearing Ben's voice. "Hey Ben... It's Syn if you forgot," she supplied her name thinking the hey you might be because he couldn't remember. "I can pay you back if you're willing to share, I don't want to be a moocher, but I could really use something to smooth the edges out. This week has really sucked for me. Except meeting you its been hell. How about you, how're things for you? She stood up and grinned at the blond boy who really was her only friend on this side of the country. "I am so glad to see you and its not because of the weed either," she said, giving him a quick hug.

Syn looked seriously hot so Ben couldn't help but smile at her. She seemed sort of down though which he didn't get. She'd seemed so confident the day before and now it was as if she had done a complete 180. "I remembered your name," he assured her, "I wasn't that high yesterday...okay maybe I was, but trust me, I remembered it." He was telling the truth too. He didn't really think about the fact that his introduction had been "Hey you" instead of using her name. He just didn't always greet people by saying there names.
"Don't worry about it," he told her when she offered to pay for her share of the weed. Maybe that sort of thing meant something to some people, or maybe even to her--Ben didn't know anything about her family after all or how much money she had--but he did have money. He had as much money as he pleased given he was the spawn of too very A-list actors, so sparing some pot wasn't a big deal to him at all.
She went on to explain that she'd sort of had the week from hell. "Sorry about that," he said, smiling when she said that he was the only good part of her week. He liked hearing that. "Well, I'm glad I can cheer you up, even if it is only a little bit," he said. "I'm mostly okay--kinda been worrying about my sister a bit--she's like gone from that girl who was the biggest tomboy ever to wearing makeup and skirts and dating this guy, but I'm going with the trusting her root, for now at least," he shrugged.
He was kind of surprised when Syn hugged him but he didn't mind it. He liked the feel of her in his arms. He smiled, "Well, what'da'ya say we break into some of this," he said, slightly holding up the brown paper bag he'd been given by his dealer. "Although we might want to go somewhere more private to smoke...too easy to get caught here," he said. They were too close to the pier...too much in a public place. Ben didn't really care about getting in trouble. He cared more about the fact that if he did get caught it would make the tabloids because of who his parents were.
"I of course always have my bowl in my car, or if you want to come over, I have a pretty nice bong at my place," he offered, not really thinking about all the reasons he hated having people over. Pretty much everyone in school already knew who his parents were so it wasn't a big deal, but Syn didn't know. But right now Ben was more thinking about Syn, the seriously hot girl standing in front of him than the fact that he didn't like people knowing who his parents were if he could help it.

Ben was cute when he was uncertain. Going somewhere more private was definitely a good thing and she moved to secure her guitar. It wasn't any thing special but it was hers. "I would like to go to your place if you don't mind and your parents won't mind. I'm not exactly the girl next door. Oh. i have a hoodie in my bag, that might help some! She began digging in her bag and pulled out a grey hoodie, which she pulled on and then zipped up so that she wasn't so exposed.
Not knowing what was going on in Ben's mind, she couldn't explain that it didn't really mean anthing to her who his parents were. She lived with notoriety daily so she wasn't going to go all sloppy over his parents. She knew how he felt somewhat. She had only known who her dad was for a year and only lived with him for a month, but she hadn't even really told anyone yet. It was hard for her to believe sometimes.

"I just live with my mom--but both my parents are out of tow anyway," he said with a shrug. "They both kind of travel a lot and used to coordinate it so one of them was always in LA since we were too old for nannies but lately they kind of stopped that all together. My sister and I are sort of on our own a lot, which is nice because, we can pretty much do whatever we want." He left out the fact that his parents were actors and his mom was in New York filming and his dad was in London filming. If he had had wind of who Syn's father was it would have been a non issue, but Ben of course had no idea, that Syn shared his misfortune of having famous parents. Okay, well not everyone saw it as a bad thing, but he hated all of the attention it got him. Ben liked to stay under the radar.
"Yeah well, I parked in this lot," he said. "Do you have a car here too? I can always drive you back here later to pick it up," he offered, "Or you can follow me to my place--I'm not to far from here...just in Venice, so its up to you," he said. Ben didn't often bring girls home. Mostly because he didn't often have girls to hang out with that weren't his sister or Izzy. It wasn't that Ben couldn't have had more luck with the ladies had he put more of an effort in, he just didn't. Truth be told, as hot as Syn was he probably wouldn't have been talking to her right now if he hadn't spotted her. He was glad that he'd run into her though. Maybe he was going to have to start trying a little harder, he thought as they headed toward the parking lot, toward his car.

"I was dropped off. I don't have a car of my own, but I am having a bike restored. Do you know Max Howard... he's a Junior. He's doing it for me. His dad has a garage. I found this Indian in a junkyard. Got it for practically nothing. My dad is always out of town really, so I know what it's like. He's on the east coast this week, but he is coming back next weekend. He has a break between concerts." Syn almost babbled as she followed him to the parking lot.Her guitar bounced against her back as she trotted to keep up with Ben who had longer legs and wasn't hampered by heels. When they reached his car, she stowed her guitar case in the back seat. She was stopped by a sudden thought. "You don't have a girlfriend do you?" she asked, not wanting to be a relationship wrecker twice in as many days.
Of course this time she wasn't throwing herself at someone, but she was still worried. "I don't understand why a girl hasn't dragged you into a relationship. You're very cute and unless someone was totally boring I can't see why you haven't been grabbed up." Syn frowned realizing she could be being too personal. "Sorry I should mind my own business.

"Perfect," Ben said. "Then we'll take my car. I can always drive you back to your place later too," he offered. "Where did you say you lived again?" He vaguely remembered her telling him but he couldn't recall at the moment. He was never good at remembered the details...especially when he smoked, which was often. They reached his car and he unlocked it and got in, waiting for Syn to get into the passenger's seat before starting it up. He considered giving her some of his weed now since he did keep his little glass bowl in his glove box, but decided against it only because it was only a few minute drive to his place so they'd be there soon enough.
"Yeah, I know who he is," Ben said about the guy who was going to fix a bike for her. He wondered if she was seeing him or something, but didn't really ask. Okay, maybe she was really hot and maybe Ben was really attracted to her, but he'd asked her over to smoke...if she wanted it to be more than that, she'd let him know. Which was probably the reason Ben never really got girls, he never made the move. He wondered if he should, maybe try to be more proactive about it. But with thoughts of Max in mind, he decided against it. They were probably dating. "That's cool. I don't really know much about bikes," he admitted, "it would be cool to ride one though. Is an Indian a type of motorcycle?" he asked, "I probably sound lame asking," he added, making fun of himself, "but I've never heard of that one. I do actually know of a few different types...just not that one." And it was true too. It was unfortunate she hadn't said Ninja or something, because he'd heard of that one.
"Concerts--he's in a band?" Ben asked. "That's cool. Anyone I've heard of?" he asked. He knew it was easy for kids in LA to be the children of super famous people, look at himself, but it was also easy to find people who were the children of actors and band members that no one had ever heard of either because it was such a common profession in LA. "My parents are actors," he said kind of casually. He was bringing her over to his house and his mom had framed posters of the movies she was in hanging up there as well as some of her awards on display. It was unavoidable, she was going to find out, so he might as well let her in on it ahead of time. "That's why they both are gone a lot. I mean a lot of stuff does film in LA, but a lot doesn't too. My mom's in New York right now and my dad's in London," he explained, still not saying who they were. She'd find out soon enough. Sure his dad didn't live with them anymore, but anyone who knew anything about celebrities and found out who his mom was could easily connect the dots to his dad since they'd had a very public relationship, marriage, and divorce as far as the rest of the country was concerned.
"Nope, no girlfriend," he said with a shrug. They were almost at his house now. "I dunno, I've had girlfriends before, but they've never lasted more than a few months. I mean, no offense cause I don't really know you and you're probably not like most girls, cause you don't seem like it, but most girls are like...clingy," he said. He didn't want to be with some girl that was going to yell at him cause he'd rather go surfing or smoke up than go to the mall or whatever. Lame. He just wanted someone that he could have fun with, and doing things that he didn't want to do for the sake of a girl wasn't fun.
"It's okay," he said when she told him she should mind her own business. "What about you, you dating that Max guy?" he asked. He was pulling into his driveway now. "Oh, my sister's home," he said, a little surprised. "I thought she had plans, but maybe she just dropped off her car or something," he said with a shrug, not really thinking too much about it. "Shall we?" he asked with a smile as he began to get out of the car.

"An Indian is a classic Motorcycle. In its time it was Like a Harley is now," Syn said with a grin still elated at finding one of her own. "I'm not sure yet that my dad will let me keep it. My dad is Maddog Madison, he's the drummer for Toxic Religion, they are pretty famous,"she said making an understatement. My brother played with him during last summer and fall. I wish I had been so lucky. They did mostly Eastern Europe and Japan the year before. I should have run away a long time ago. I have missed so much. "Movie Stars huh? I guess that can be a real pain, they are even more visible than musicians.
"No I'm not dating anyone. Everyone that I've met that I've liked so far have already been dating someone. I was beginning to think I was cursed."she said with a rueful laugh. Ben's parent's beach house was the picture of the American Dream. No one remain unimpressed upon seeing it for the first time. To Syn who had always lived in the hard city, it was Los Angeles. Sand and surf and blue skies. It was also a bit frightening since she couldn't swim and she was surrounded by water that had a life of its own. "This is beautiful. really beautiful," she murmured and ran up to hold onto his arm.

"Oh that's pretty awesome," he said, he felt a little dumb for not knowing that, but oh well. He didn't really sweat it. Ben was a pretty relaxed guy anyway. He didn't really let things get to him. Not even who her dad was. His parents were just as famous so it didn't really faze him. "That's cool," he said. "So you're Dare's sister then," he said. "I have some classes with him--must admit don't know him too well, but I heard about that being his dad," he explained. "I didn't realize he had a sister," he admitted.
"Yeah, my mom is Alicia Dixon and my dad Wes Patridge," he said, naming the two A-listers. "We live with my mom but even so its way annoying with paparazzi and stuff. I actually prefer when they're both out of town so I don't have to deal with anything," he said. "I'm much more low key then they are," I guess.
"That's too bad," he said when she mentioned that everyone she liked was taken. "You haven't been in LA that long though, right? You'll find someone, I'm sure. That stuff always tends to happen when you least suspect it anyway," he said grinning at her. She seemed really cool. Ben wouldn't have minded getting with her, but he just wasn't one to put the effort in.
"Oh thanks," he said about his house. "Yeah, it's pretty sweet. I'm pretty obsessed with surfing so its great living right on the beach. Oh I remember you said you can't swim, so I won't offer our pool or a dip in the ocean, but we could always hit up the hot tub if you'd like. Since you already have your suite on," he told her as he lead her into the house. "First though I think we should smoke some--my bong is in my room, come on," he told her leading the way to his bedroom. He noticed that Eden's bedroom door was shut. Was she upset? She had had plans with Cole. Maybe something had gone wrong...or maybe Cole was in there with her. He wanted to check on him but the thought of walking in on her and a boy made him feel uneasy about it. He'd smoke some first and then figure out what he wanted to do.

Syn followed Ben into his room and grinned. It looked just like she would imagine a surfer boy's room would look. There was a board across the floor, she assumed it was in the process of being waxed. "Why do surfers wax their boards?" she asked innocently revealing her ignorance in the art of surfing. She perched herself on the edge of the bed and continued to look around with interest.
