Something was off, Evan wasn’t so oblivious that he didn’t miss that, and not so stupid as that he wasn’t fairly sure it had something to do with what he told Brittany that morning, about the whole Syn kissing him thing. At least, he hoped it was about that, not that she changed her mind, that she wasn’t sure that she loved him and she only said it because he did first, and that was the thing to do, say it back. Cause that really wouldn’t be good. He found himself much more heavily invested in this relationship than he ever figured he would be now, with all the worry that went with it.
“Ah, ok.” he nodded, still not keen, feeling like maybe he and Brit should just hang out that night. But she wouldn’t have told him to go if she didn’t want him to, so he gave in. “Ok, well, good luck on your test. And with annoying Aly tomorrow at the brunch, if I don’t get to talk to you before then.” Things felt a little odd, and he couldn’t figure out why she seemed different around him, but he knew he didn’t like it. “Uh, bye.” He leaned forward to press what was meant to be only a quick kiss to her lips, but he really liked kissing his girlfriend, so it took longer than he intended. “Love you.” he grinned brightly now. “I’ll call you soon or something. Want to see you over the weekend.”
With that, he left her to walk back to his friends, only just a little surprised that Eddie had disappeared. And he was glad about that. “Well, what are we all just standing around for? Party time!”

Waving to Eddie as the guy walked off, Connor couldn’t help but think it was a shame that he couldn’t hang back. But, it was probably helpful in the long run, with six in a five seater car, it was going to be an interesting trip to Kian’s boat, especially with the stop to get the subs along the way. He couldn’t the image of a little clown car out of his head, though luckily, this situation won’t be as bad.
When Evan turned up, the rarely quiet teenager made him laugh, and he nodded in agreement. “Good point. And I’m hungry, let’s get going.” he grinned, moving to take Kian’s hand as he walked over to the very maroon car, unlocking it. Then he turned his attention back to the small group following.
“Well, Kian’s got shotgun, that doesn’t even really need to be said.” Connor grinned. “And seeing as he’s going to be looking after the boat, Mike gets one of the back seats. And Christophe is a new friend, so he gets another. Which means Patch and Evan, you have to fight for the last one. Whoever’s quickest to take it.” he laughed. “Whoever’s left over, there’ll probably won’t be enough room to sit on someone’s lap, so you’re just going to have to lie on the three laps in the back seat.” There was either that or the boot, but he figured lying on the back seat, on everyone, would be marginally safer, not to mention, funnier.

Brittany was glad when Evan decided to go with his friends. She knew she'd deal with it all eventually, but now it was just too much. She was still processing it all and seeing Syn and Evan just a few minutes apart had not helped. "Uh...thanks," she said when he wished her luck on her non-existent test. She sort of felt bad for lying but it was the only excuse she could think of that they would all buy. Otherwise she would have been dragged along. She knew it.
"Yeah, bye," she said, for the first time ever actually wishing Evan would hurry up and leave. It was a new feeling to her and she wasn't sure she liked it. "You too," she said in response to the I love you's...kind of copping out on saying it. It wasn't that she didn't mean it...she did...she knew that she did. She did love Evan. But what she was afraid of was that Evan didn't really love her...that he was just saying that to make up for what had happened. After all...maybe he and Syn weren't lying...maybe he really hadn't done anything wrong and it had been all the girl, but he'd still gotten himself into that situation. Brittany had never been in any situation like that...
He leaned into kiss her and she let him but she wasn't as into it as usual, but she kissed him back anyway. The kiss gave her a funny feeling that she didn't like either, but it seemed to satisfy Evan, which pleased her because she didn't want to deal with any more drama right now. "Yeah, do that," she said when he told her he'd call her, but Brittany wasn't sure if she did want to see him. Yet at the same time, not seeing him all weekend seemed odd too. She wasn't sure what she'd do.
She watched as the boys left and waited until they were gone before she made her move. She'd watched to where Eddie left, glad that he hadn't gone with the others, yet at the same time wasn't sure he wanted to hang out with her still. But they seemed to get along and he had been walking slowly as if he was waiting for her...so it was worth a shot. Brittany jogged over to where he was. "Sorry about all the awkwardness," she said, pushing some of her hair behind her ear. She let out a sigh. "I know we don't have enough time to go get pizza anymore but I think I'm gonna go grab lunch anyway," she said. "I don't really have a test and I kind of just need a break from school at the moment. There's no way I'd be able to concentrate anyway." She shrugged. "You can still come along if you want...but I understand if you want to get back to class. Either way...call me this weekend, we should hang out," she said, figuring he hadn't been lying when he said he hadn't wanted to skip class.

Eddie felt bad for Brittany, and the fact that she apologized for the tension in the air made him feel even worse. She had no control over any of it, but it seemed as if she was carrying all of it on her shoulders. “Don't... it's not your fault, you don't need to apologize. It's just a sucky thing that happened.” He wished he could give her better advice tell her what to do, but he couldn't. He had only ever really dated one girl before, and the way that ended he could hardly be considered an expert of girls. “I guess, just try not to dwell on the past.”
The clock was ticking, and there was little time left before class. Eddie didn't even think he'd have a chance to get through the cafeteria line and get the whole meal down as it was. The offer to get lunch with a pretty girl, as dysfunctional as her situation may be right now, was quite tempting. He thought for a moment, about how this was an opportunity for him to define who he was going to be at this school. Did he want to run around with the “cool” kids, skipping class and going to boat parties?
“Yeah, I better get to class. I can just grab something from the vending machines,” he smiled, feeling bad he was ditching Brittany, but he knew it was the smart choice. He wasn't a cool kid, he was just himself. “But if you ever need to talk to someone, give me a call. You got my number now.” He hoped she'd be okay. Perhaps some time alone would do her some good, give her a chance to figure some stuff out for herself. Eddie turned, heading towards the vending machine and pumping himself up for a light chips and juice lunch. “I'll call you,” he yelled back to Brittany with a smile, but the girl had already turned to leave. Hopefully she'd respect him more for his choice, but he was sure it wouldn't make her like him more.
