The morning had been...interesting. Brittany honestly didn't know if it was a good or bad morning. Good...good she decided. Despite the first part being a little shaky, Evan had still told Brittany that he loved her. The other girl clearly didn't matter or Evan wouldn't have told Brit that he was in love with her. It all made sense.
Still, there was something about it. Brit couldn't help herself...she wanted to know. She wanted to at least see this girl. By asking around a little, Brittany had found out where the girl's locker was. She was apparently sharing with some cheerleader, so that should be easy enough...telling the difference between someone who looked like Dare and a cheerleader.
Brittany headed down the hall, feeling a little nervous as she did. Maybe this was a bad idea. Things with her and Evan were great. Maybe she just needed to turn around and not worry about this anymore. But she had to know. Reaching the locker, she stood across the hall looking at the pretty blonde with black streaks in her hair. She had sort of a punk style...sort of like Brittany, only this girl was much sexier. Much prettier. And just like that it wasn't okay anymore.
But Brittany wouldn't confront the girl. She was far too upset and riddled with doubt to do that. What would Evan want with her when this girl was clearly a better, girlier version of her?! Is that how Evan wished she dressed....wish she wore her hair, long like that. Did he wish that she wore more makeup? Brittany usually only wore makeup when she was performing.
She felt her chest tighten and tears blurred her eyes but she blinked them away. Brittany wasn't exactly a crier usually. But this...this was completely something else. Brittany didn't know what to do...or what to think. She quickly turned away and in her haste walked directly into something...hard. Ouch.
OOC: to whoever replies feel free to have Brit run into your character or a locker or whatever you think fits best

The sun glinted through a window above the lockers, creeping slowly across the floor as Eddie sat studying his script. He could feel its warmth on his legs, then soon he realized it was on his arms. He finally decided to quit when the sun had reached his face, though his mind had quit on him much earlier. His thoughts kept drifting back to the previous night.
It was innocent enough. He and Jude had watched a movie, The Wedding Singer, and though it had started slightly awkwardly, it soon became obvious the movie was background noise. Eddie and Jude had talked the night away, realizing they had quite a bit in common. Eddie hadn't even kissed Jude good night, as nerves got the best of him, but he was sure if he tried she would have let him.
All of this excited Eddie, but it also caused him no little amount of stress. What if he did kiss Jude, and all of a sudden found himself in a relationship? He wasn't sure if he was ready for that. Not to mention he just moved to the area and barely had any friends. If he were to get a girlfriend already, would he be able to make that many friends? Ad worst of all, he really liked Jude, and part of that was because she seemed in a lot of ways very similar to her. Jessie. His dreaded ex. She had caused him all sorts of heartache. Would Jude do the same? Whatever the case, he was to see her again this evening.
These thoughts and more floated through Eddie's brain as he wandered the halls, meandering slowly towards cafeteria. He wasn't even sure of his location, but a loud “Bang!” startled him out of his reverie. He spun to see a familiar face tumble down onto her backside, a chorus of teenagers laughing derisively at the poor girl's accidental meeting with an open locker.
Eddie hurried over and knelt beside her, noting first that there was no blood and second that she seemed red-faced and about to cry. He didn't blame her, from the sound of it she smacked the metal locker quite hard. He smiled at her, hoping to distract her from the crowd's jeers, and put his arm around her to help her up.
“Hey Brit, you okay?” Concern filled his voice, but he tried to hold his smile. He hoped a joke would help. “I don't know what you said, but you sure pissed that locker off!”

Brittany was in a daze. It took her a moment to realize what happened. But she was on the floor, people were laughing at her and it seemed that only one person had come to help: Eddie. She hadn't really seen the boy around lately but it seemed like he always popped up when she needed a hand. She'd wanted to get his number so she could call him and thank him after he'd helped out with Aly so much during the shooting, but in the midst of everything that had been going on she'd failed to and then hadn't seen him around again before now.
She rubbed her forehead, and could tell that a bump was already forming. "Hey...its you," she said, slowly pushing herself up. She ignored the people snickering at her. Always, sort of the odd one out, she didn't care much what people said about her anyway. "I uh...yeah...I guess I did piss off the locker...or maybe it was whoever left it open...I dunno," she said, her tone still sullen. She didn't know who the locker belonged to, but it didn't matter. She didn't really want to think about it.
"How--how have you been?" she asked. "I haven't really seen you around lately...you adjusting to life in LA and all that?" she asked, trying to bring the focus off of her accident. She didn't really want to explain the cause of it all. It all seemed so complicated yet so trivial at the same time. Brittany hated drama? How had this all happened?
"I was thinking of taking off for lunch," she added. "You wanna come?" Brittany actually knew she wouldn't mind the company of someone like Eddie, mostly because he was far enough removed from her whole situation. That and he'd kind of really helped her out during the whole shooting thing. He'd even visited Aly in the hospital...which reminded her. She'd meant to ask him back then, if he had a thing for Aly (because why else would he have gone out of his way to visit her), but she'd never gotten the chance. Maybe if they got lunch together she could ask him. It would be good to focus on everyone's love life but hers. That and she really didn't want to be in school right now. Maybe she'd missed most of the morning, but after seeing Syn and everything getting turned up-side-down again, Brittany just wanted to go home. She'd probably take off after her off campus lunch, but she didn't have to tell Eddie that now.

It's you? That's all he got? Brittany had just bumped her head pretty good, but nonetheless Eddie was slightly disappointed that all he got was an “It's you.” Perhaps she didn't even remember his name? It was more than possible. He hadn't spoken to the girl in quite a few days now, and it wasn't as if he were all that important in the first place. Still, why should he even care? Sure, he had a bit of a crush on Brittany when he met her, but with Jude in the picture Eddie shouldn't be too concerned about his love life. Jude was pretty, fun, and had much more in common with Eddie. Oh, and she was single.
“Yeah,” Eddie replied, glad the girl seemed mostly okay. “I'm doing fine I guess. I'm in South Pacific, I got the lead, so that's been taking up most of my time really. How have you been?” Brittany seemed like she was okay, her balance was fine and she seemed coherent. Still, a concussion was no joke. Eddie made a mental note to keep an eye on her for a little while. “Lunch out of the cafeteria? Sounds like a plan to me, but I don't have a car or anything. Do you?” Eddie couldn't help but eye the giant goose egg that was growing on Brittany's skull. “And maybe we should head to the nurse's office quick and get you an ice pack.”

"Oh, congrats," Brittany said about the play, once again trying to keep the focus off her. Brittany wasn't a school play kind of girl. Sure, she had lots of musical talent but the whole extra-curricular school activity thing had always been a giant turn off to her. Brittany frowned when he asked how she had been. "Uh...good," she lied, very unconvincingly too, but deciding not to dwell on that, she quickly moved on.
"Yes...I kind of don't feel like being in school right now," she said. The whole thought of school was suffocating really, but she left that part out, not wanting to seem too desperate. She just needed to get out. Run, even--but she'd already invited Eddie along so she would wait and see if he was keen on joining and if not she'd run. "No...I don't have a car...." Usually she had a skateboard but she didn't even have that today because Evan had driven her in...when things had still been okay. "There are some places you can walk to," she offered. And then afterward, Brittany could hop on a bus and head straight home to freak out in the privacy of her own room. Maybe she'd even carry Jimmy up into her bed and let her dog share in the wallowing fest she planned.
She shook her head when he suggested the nurse. "I'll be fine, really," she said. She touched her forehead again, seeing that the bump was worsening. She pushed her bangs over to the other side to cover it--well mostly cover it. "I'll take care of it after lunch," she insisted, figuring it wouldn't be an issue to put some ice on it once she got home. After all, she was totally skipping out on the rest of the day. "Come on," she coaxed her, "I just really need to get out here," she said, betraying herself by admitting that her eagerness to go was more than just being really, really hungry.

“Thanks,” Eddie grinned. He could tell Brittany didn't really think it as much of a big deal as Eddie did, but he had beaten out a soap opera star for the role. On the inside, he was beaming. His smile quickly faded when the girl attempted a nonchalant response, however. In that answer, Eddie saw something was upsetting her, and he surmised it was more than the embarrassment and physical pain of the meeting she had with the locker. He noticed she was breathing a little heavier than someone normally would, and he wondered if it was from the head wound or something else.
“Then let's walk, get out of here,” he said sympathetically. Eddie was starting to worry that something at home was amiss. Or perhaps... no. He shouldn't worry himself with how Brittany and her boyfriend were. But if they had broken up...
His eyes distractedly followed the smaller girl's hand as she tried to hide the bump, and he couldn't help but smile a little. That thing was getting bi, and it wasn't going to disappear so easily. “Okay, but you better tell me if you start to feel light headed or dizzy or anything. And no naps in class today!” He pointed a finger at her as he spoke, hoping to remain a little lighter and cheer her up a bit. “All right, let's go! You lead the way.”
Eddie followed Brittany through he hallway, falling silent as he struggled with the thought of asking her what was wrong. He could tell it wasn't just the cafeteria food that was chasing her away from the school. She really wanted to get away from someone or something, and unless it was a really really hard test, Eddie was sure it was a something. Finally, after the pair had left the building and no one was around, Eddie decided he couldn't hold the question in anymore. He opened his mouth to speak, and realized he didn't hardly know this girl, and he wasn't sure if she'd appreciate his prying. Still, he couldn't just stand there with his mouth gaping open. “Hey, uh, Brit? Are you sure everything's okay? I mean, if you want to talk I'm a good listener.”

Brittany was glad when Eddie seemed on board with leaving campus. "Great," she said enthusiastically as she headed towards the doors. She got another glimpse at Syn as she passed, turning away from the girl with long blonde hair and black streaks in her hair...the girl that was clearly the improved version of herself...the one that Evan probably wanted to replace her with. He was probably just being nice this morning.
She discounted the talk about her feeling dizzy. She'd be fine. She'd just put ice on it once she got home. No big. Normally she'd see if Evan's mom could check it out, but that was out of the question now. Brittany wasn't sure if she was speaking to Evan or not. She was really upset right now and couldn't really imagine speaking to him but who knew...maybe once she calmed down it would all be okay.
When Eddie asked her what was wrong, Brittany bit down on her bottom lip. She didn't really want to tell him everything but at the same time she was pretty sure she had to tell him something...give him some sort of explanation to the bizarre way she was acting. Otherwise he might worry and think that her head was worse than it was and force her to go to the school nurse or something...and there was no way she was going to risk going back to school again.
"Um...it was just...that girl...the one with the black streaks in her hair," Brittany said quietly. And then some sort of verbally diarrhea got the best of her and the words all came spilling out, quickly with no breaths in-between. "She--kissed my boyfriend and Evan said that he didn't kiss her back but I dunno if its true and he told me that he loved me and I believed him but now that I've seen her I see that she'd like just like me but like the improved model because she's way girlier and way prettier and now I don't know what to think because why wouldn't he want to trade up and maybe he just said he loved me so I wouldn't get mad and...and...I don't even know. I just don't want to be in school." Brittany looked away from him. How embarrassing. She hadn't meant to tell him that much...

Syn had been spending all morning with the events of the night before replaying in her brain over and over. The more she thought, the angrier she got with herself. Lunch came and there was no way she could handle the zoo that was the cafeteria. She went to her locker and tried not to scream at the guy that tried to flirt with her. Sticking her head in her locker to avoid replying, she missed the drama when Britt met a locker door head on.
She wished that Ben had contacted her, she really could use his brand of comfort, but she supposed that he had realized what a waste of space she was just like everyone else did eventually. She couldn't even be there for her brother... well half-brother, but still he was so down that he couldn't stand living and she had been trying to seduce his taken friend. She felt so evil, she should have been... oh she didn't know, helping, instead of perving on someone totally unavailable. She half-hoped that Brittany found out and bashed her face in. Maybe it would take some of this guilt away.
Making a sound of frustration, Syn backed out of her locker and slammed it shut. "Fuck this," she muttered and headed for the exit, moving as fast as her combat boots would take her. She would kill someone if she stayed in school the rest of the day. She passed by a girl with a rather odd dye job and a rather nerdy looking guy to cut in front of them and pass outside. The wind caught her short tutu style lace skirt and flipped it up which she ignored totally uncaring if someone saw her shredded fishnet stocking tops or the tabs of the elastic that held them up to her corset. She had dancer briefs on so nothing too risque was revealed. But then her ideas on that were rather warped.

It was a lot to take in, and Eddie wasn't even sure if he caught the whole story. Brittany's boyfriend had cheated on her, but still told her he loved her? The story sounded quite familiar to him, and he did his best to not let his mind wander. He kept his eyes on Brittany while he thought of what to say. On one hand, he knew instantly what he wanted to say, that the guy was no good and that he was fall of crap, but he also knew that if he said that he might come off as sounded jealous, or that he was trying to sabotage Brittany's relationship. He could always just placate her, but it would be dishonest and Eddie hated lying of any sort. Looks like he just had to be honest and hope she saw he was sincere and not some manipulative creep.
“I get it,” he started, his voice kinda quiet. The situation just happened to hit close to home. “I mean, I was in a relationship like that before, back home. I dated this girl for like two and a half years, Jessie, and she was super awesome. I was crazy about her, and she was about me, or so I thought. She cheated on me once, and she admitted it right away, told me she didn't mean to and it was just an accident, all this bull. And I, the fool, I ate it all up, you know? I thought that was the only time it happened. It wasn't until a few months later that I found out it wasn't the last time, and it wasn't just kissing anymore.” Eddie had to stop for a moment. He had to collect his thought, and not just spill everything. This girl was the first person he had told any of this to. “That was after she had already broken up with me, cause I was moving here and all, but I was still in love with her, and I guess I wasted a lot of time and effort trying to make things work.”
He took a deep breath, realizing he wasn't making much sense. “I guess what I'm saying is, be careful you're not just running around looking like a fool. I can't tell you what to do at all, you have to figure that out. But I know I sure felt like an idiot. And the worst part is that I still care about her. I had to cut myself off completely, just do my best to ignore the fact that she existed. It wasn't easy, and I admit I was sometimes weak and texted her. But it never led to any good, and I always felt worse off.” Eddie was unsure of what to say now that his story had been put out into the world in L.A. It was one thing back home, where all his friends knew literally everything about him and Jessie, but it was kinda nice for a while out here to have nary a soul speak that name to him.
Still, it felt good to talk about it. Though he doubted he made Brit feel any better. He was about to offer some words of consolation when the blonde and black haired girl flounced right past the two. Eddie managed to catch a glimpse of something less than decent (but more than incredible!) and was rendered speechless for a moment. He didn't stop to think what the girl beside him might do. If she were to lunge, he wouldn't be able to stop her.

Brittany quietly listened as Eddie recounted his story. She knew that he was only trying to help, but his story did quite the opposite. The other girl, Syn, had kissed Evan. It hadn't been the other way around. But Eddie said that was cheating. Brittany hadn't been so sure...but she guessed that it made sense. If someone else's lips touched his...that was cheating.
Brittany took a deep breath. She felt really overwhelmed. "I can't deal with this," she said. "I don't know what to do...or what to believe." Before she'd seen Syn, it had all been okay...but now that she had...she knew that Syn was just the type of girl that Evan would like. Maybe he had cheated. Maybe he was lying about not kissing her back. But then why had he bothered to tell her? He could have lied about the whole thing, right? "I'm sorry that that happened to you," she said. "But at least you got to move away. You don't have to see her all the time," Brittany said. Even if she and Evan did end up breaking up...which she still wasn't sure she wanted...she'd have to see him around school all the time. They had a class together and now they had enough mutual friends that it would all be awkward.
"Yeah...um...I know you can't tell me what to do...but what did you do? Is that why you guys broke up?" she asked. "How did you find out that everything she did--sorry, you probably don't want to talk about it," Brittany said. She furrowed her eyebrows, quizzically. She was starting to move from being upset to being angry. That's when she saw her again: Syn. She cut right in front of them and Brittany stopped walking. Without really thinking about it she grabbed Eddie by the arm.
"That's her! That's the bitch that kissed Evan!" she said...a little bit louder than she wanted. She quickly made a face, looking up at Eddie. "Shit...you don't think she heard me...do you?" Brittany whispered, suddenly afraid that she'd been to rash.
