"That's cool that you have access to one though," Roxy said. She'd love to try riding one, but she was pretty sure that she was too small. She would be better fit as a passenger or on a scooter or something smaller. "Well, I can't drive yet so I wouldn't know," Roxy shrugged. She still had a year before she could even think about driving. Luckily her birthday was in December so she had less than a year before she could start learning to drive. She was one of the older freshmen.
Roxy was sort of thrown by his next question. The fact that this guy was trying to get to know her was sort of lost on Roxy. Pretty much all of her friends were also freshman and she wasn't used to any of the upperclassmen giving her the time of day at all. "Um...I go to classes?" she said when he asked what she did in school. "Oh...do you mean like extra curricular activities?" she asked. "I'm in drama club and on the newspaper...although I don't get to do too much on the paper being a freshman and all...I'm gonna be in the play though," she said enthusiastically. "What about you...what do you do?" she asked, hoping that she answered his question correctly.

He gave her a smile, it helped to fill in the puzzle the girl was to him, "Sounds like you have an interesting time at school, I imagine the newspaper throws some challenges your way." Casper said he was pretty sure, it was only used for the purpose of spreading gossip. News was something you could read most of the time in an actual serious news paper, or watch it on CNN. He didn't put to much credence in people who wrote amateur news in a rag.
Of course he didn't say this aloud, nor did he allow his feature to show any kind of hint about what he thought of the school newspaper. He didn't want to anger the girl by slating her efforts, it was not him trying to be snobbish. He didn't think you could try and be snobbish, you either was or you weren't. He didn't think he was, but then he wasn't a very good judge of himself.
"I'm on the Surf team, football team and basketball team, my whole family is big on sports so it was a natural choice for me to follow." Casper said to her, you didn't need to be a fool to work out that his physique wasn't just about working out some of it was to do with the sports he played in the process of his life. He wasn't your typical health freak, he worked out because it was his way with dealing some of his troubles. Only his mother knew the extent of his fears.

"I guess," Roxy said with a shrug, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She wasn't really that into newspaper really, but she liked to have some non-acting activity to do. The thing was, that Roxy really like acting, preforming, singing and dancing and the like. She just didn't want to do it professionally and her parents did want her to. So usually she ended up blowing auditions on purpose and then giving her all for the school play. But truth be told she missed half of the newspaper meetings anyway.
"Ah, so you're a jock," Roxy said. He didn't seem so awful though. Maybe he was more like that Nate guy she'd met the other day instead of the other jocks she had encountered that had been tormenting Levi for no reason. It was for that reason that Roxy was still kind of wary of jocks. Plus, she wasn't really into sports anyway. She didn't know any of the rules to any of the games and she usually didn't go.
"So you have a sport for like every season, huh?" Roxy said. "Which is your favorite?" she asked. Just then she got a text message from Teddy about going out for cotton candy. "Yessss! Cotton Candy!" she said with a big smile, looking back up at Casper. "My friends are getting cotton candy," she explained, as if that was explanation enough.

Casper grinned at her, "Yeah I'm a jock, but I'm from the rare breed of jocks, that think with their heads and not something lower down their bodies." Casper pointed out. "I prefer surfing, football and basketball are both kind of new to me, but surfing thats something I enjoy doing a lot of. I find it liberating to chase the perfect wave, or just have a hell of a lot of fun in the process. I think I spend more time on my ass than I do actually on a wave but thats the fun of it all." Casper added.
When Roxy brought up cotton candy he hadn't heard of it, not with that name anyway. The frown on his face probably gave the impression he either thought it was distasteful or that candy was the devil or something. But in reality it was more to do with the fact that he had never heard of it, "Cotton candy?" he asked confused, American's altered everything in the English language, to him some of things they had change were criminal. You shouldn't be allowed to murder a language like that, but they some how managed to do it at every turn. He still loved American's but their lingo confused him to no end all the time.

"Well, that's good because most jocks are jerks," Roxy said, stating it like a fact. This guy didn't seem so bad though. He didn't seem like the type to prey on those who were clearly weaker than her was. She appreciated that. Plus, his favorite was surfing...usually the surfers seemed okay for the most part. They weren't as full of themselves. "That's cool. I've never been," Roxy said with a shrug. Surfing was something that seemed like it could maybe be fun, but Roxy had never cared enough to go out of her way to try or anything like that.
"You don't know what cotton candy is?" Roxy said, her eyes bugging out a little as she stared at him in disbelief. "Well, then you gotta come. Thad and Teddy won't mind one more tagging along." In fact, knowing them they had assembled a whole group that she didn't even know about yet. "We're going right now though...that doesn't bother you....does it?" she asked giving him a look. She didn't know him well enough to know whether he was the type who always followed the rules or not. If he decided not to come, that was fine by Roxy, as long as he didn't tell on them.
Roxy just wanted to share the joy's of cotton candy. After all, pink fluffy sugar....what could possibly go wrong there. "So whadda'ya think?" she asked, "you in? Cause I need to go find the others for our cotton candy adventure."
