Otep walked down toward the outside... the anywhere but inside. She looked around for Jem. Now where would she be?? She leaned against the wall and took out her phone. She had a cupcake in one hand from Annie's table so she could give to Jemima. She looked down at her phone and began a text.
Jemima was running around. She had a lot to do before tonight and whatever it was Otep was cooking up in her mind. So, she was all over the place. She thought she was supposed to meet her or something. But looked like she might be a few minutes late.
Otep texted her “Hey, babe. Where are you?” she asked curiously. She didn't exactly tell her to meet her up but she knew at the same time that it was sort of understood. She hoped Jem didn't feel pressured for tonight.
Jemima heard her phone and she had to dig it out of her bag. She didn't even have to look to see who the text was from. She already knew. "I'm on my way..* she texted back. *Give me 5 mins.*
Otep nodded and put her phone in her pocket. She eyed the cupcake and smiled a little. Such a cute little Valentine's gesture for the girl to make for everyone in this day. She looked up at the people passing. Cute little couples. She knew that she and Jem were the cutest and it didn't bother her that people said anything about the lesbian couple of the school. Though she never really thought about what Jem thought about all that... the whispers.
Today was one of those days Jem caught herself wondering why she chose to wear heels so often. They were not exactly the best shoes to move around in when you were in a hurry. She could slip them off and go in her bear feet and then slip them back on. yeah that would look real classy. She rounded a corner and saw Otep up ahead. For the most part she usually ignored the people's stares or their comments. But every once in a while it got to her. Bothered her. But she tried hard to never let that show.
Otep looked down at the ground and then back up. When she noticed Jem she smiled a real big, bright smile. "Hey babe." she smiled at her as she went toward her.
Jem slowed her pace down and just slowly walked toward Otep. "Hey...I know. I'm a bit late. But this day ended up being crazier than I expected."
Otep laughed a little. "No it's ok." she smiled at her as she kissed her forehead gently. "Wanna do lunch?" she asked her curiously.
"Lunch?" Was it lunch time already? She had lost track of the time. But now that she mentioned it she was a bit hungry. "Lunch, sure sounds great."
Otep smiled at her and held her hand out to her. "Come on then." she smiled a little.
She took her hand. Letting Otep lead the way. Not that she minded. "What's that?" she asked. It looked like Otep was trying to hide something and she was curious to know what it was.
Otep smiled a little. "Oh nothing." she grinned a little.
"Nothing?" she eyed her. "Sure, if it's nothing. Why you hiding it?"
"Oh because." she grinned and turned around stopping in front of her. "I stopped by the little table of cupcakes in the lunch room... and I snagged one for you." she smiled.
Jemima saw the table. Laden with the sweet little treat. But had resisted the urge. "Aww, you got me a cupcake?" she smiled.
Otep smiled at her. "Of course I did." she said. She offered it to her with a cute smile.
Jemima took the treat with a smile. It was probably laden with fat, sugar and calories. Every one of those things was going to make it taste oh so good. "Thanks..." she laughed a little. Peeling back the little paper that was around it. Then taking a bite out of it.
Otep smiled as she watched Jem peel the paper back and take a bite. She knew the cupcakes were good - hell they were going like hot cakes! "Come on to lunch, then." she smiled.
She turned her head and looked at Otep. “Want a bite?” she asked, After all she had been nice enough to get her the cupcake, she could at least be nice enough to offer her a bite of it. “So, lunch. Good. I’m starving. I hadn’t realized I hadn’t eaten since breakfast.”
