(OOC Just a short one to get my boy into the mix ;P)
IC "No staying out late tonight, Fumihiro!" the man called after his older son as he heard him make his way down from his room upstairs. "You start work tomorrow."
"Like I need that reminder," he muttered but in his native tongue of Japanese.
"English, Fumihiro!"
"Yeah whatever, otosan," he replied with an off-hand shrug. It wasn't like he'd even wanted to come here and now he was being forced to speak their language. "Bakayarou," he added in an even softer mumble.
"I'm gonna tell dad you called him an asshole."
Fumihiro scowled darkly at his little sister who had appeared as if from nowhere in the kitchen doorway.
" Urusai yariman!"
Mauki's eyes widened before he turned back to face the kitchen. "Momma... what does yariman mean?"
"Leave her alone, Fumi," stated the middle Yoshino child. "Calling her a slut isn't going to make us go back to Osaka."
Fumihiro simply glared at Takumi before snarling a parting cuss word. Taki shrugged it off and grinned at his brother's departing back.
"Fumihiro! Come here! You can't go calling your sister a..."
"He's already gone, okasan," Takumi told his mother and he reached for his jacket, patting Makumi's head as he passed her by. "I'll bring you something nice from the shop, ok, chiisai..."
She smiled up at him and nodded. "I won't be long!" The last part was called out to his parents and he shrugged into his jacket as he headed out of the house. On Monday he'd start at his new school and - hopefully - would make some friends. For now, though Takumi faced the prospect of an evening alone. A weekend alone, most likely. The USA... His new home. The land of opportunity, so it was said... Now he was going to find out for himself just how true that claim was...

Ashton stood on the curb closet to his bike which was now secured, his helmet in hand, he didn't know why he had taken to the bike tonight, maybe it had something to do with the argument he had with his father concerning his weekend plans, or that he had a date with a girl later this evening, as usual his father wanted him to spend more time on sports, rather than on his life.
Like he didn't have enough to worry about without spending more time on a field on in a gym working out, so he had put on his leathers and taken of without a word to his father about where he was going, or more to the point to his sister who he told everything.
It seemed like the perfect place to go, the beach was a place he sometimes used to think, he shrugged his jacket of at that moment so he didn't over heat, bike clothes weren't necessarily the best thing to wear in LA, not unless you wanted to over heat. He walked alone for some time, sticking out like a stuck thumb and looking angry at the world for all it was worth.
Tag - Feel free to break yourself into his moment of self loathing.

As soon as he stepped out of the house Takumi realised he wasn't going to exactly meld in visually. It wasn't so much his race as he could spot a few other Asians on the sea front. Ok, none were Japanese but Korean and maybe Chinese but it was more his clothing. Thank god he hadn't donned his Hello Kitty hoodie and instead had opted for his grey one inscribed with an old proverb, written in bold kanji symbols. It was topped with a black jacket that had seen better days but his jeans were well past their use-by date, faded to a palest blue and with both of his knees poking through the rents on each leg. Everyone else looked like they'd stepped out of a fashion catalogue.
He shrugged and pushed his hands deep into his jeans pockets and wandered onto the beach.
Taki's eyes were cast down at the sand and not at all focussed on where he was going, seeing the inevitable happen. Two bodies smacjked together and he blinked in surprise as he took a pace backwards.
"Gomennasai," he instinctively said, mentally rebuking himself immediately afterwards. This was his new home... He had to at least make a decent attempt to adapt. "I am sorry," he repeated carefully. A phrase he felt confident in using but he still wanted to get the pronounmciation close to right.

Ashton looked at the Asian boy for a moment, he had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts he had not been looking at where he was going, so he had probably made the same mistake as the boy in front of him.
Any anger he felt quickly gave way, "Its fine, I'm not seriously hurt." Ashton said to him, he didn't recognize the boy, which didn't mean much around here, after all LA was a huge place, and he certainly didn't attend Silver, he would have known a new non American had joined their school if he had, that would have been noteworthy news after all. "Are you okay, the helmet didn't hit you or anything?" Ashton asked him politely.
It appeared to him that the boy seemed to be okay, he didn't really know enough about the anatomy to be sure, he was a jock after all, but the kid seemed to be out for the same reasons he was, or something close to those reasons anyway.
"Cool accent, Chinese or Japanese?" Ashton asked the boy. "English doesn't appear to be your first language anyway." Ashton said he smiled. "I'm Ashton, but everyone calls me Ash pretty much." Ashton said he would have held his hand out to the boy but he wasn't sure he would get it shaken so it stayed where it was.

"I'm ok," replied Takumi. "I am Nihonjin... from Japan," he added. "My English isn't great." This time a wry half shrug came with the words, along with a broad smile. "My name is Yoshino Takumi." The Japanese youth stretched a hand out towards the other boy. "Takumi is my first name. Yoshino is ah... " He thought for a few moments before speaking again. "Yoshino is my... family name. It's an honour to meet you, Ash."
Hopefully his manners and response were right for the USA and he hadn't just put his foot right in it by screwing up and committing some kind of social blunder. He was new to the country, for sure, but he was striving to do - and say - the right things...

Ashton smiled at the Japenese boy, "I wouldn't worry about your English, half the people in America can't speak proper English, that and your English though a little broken is pretty darn good." Ashton said to him with a grin. "I've not seen you around here before, by that I mean, that I come here a lot to think or surf or both at the same time, makes for great accidents." Ashton said to him. "I attend Silver high." Ashton said. "You have a pretty cool accent, so you probably haven't been in LA long, either that or you've been here years and your one of these people who don't lose their native accents." Ashton said thinking of the people he had met at school who spoke with non American accents.
"If your new here welcome to LA, if not its good to meet you Takumi." Ashton said he hoped he had not just mutilated the boys first name, as badly as it sounded. "What brings you out here, you look pretty upset or annoyed and angry at something, and trust me I know what that feels like." Ashton said to him with a small smile. "I'm escaping my father for the evening personally, the less shouting I have to put up with the better." Ashton added.
Tag and thats a wrap for me.

"Annoyed?" Not a word he knew but angry and upset were more familiar. "No... just a bit..." He wasn't at all sure how to word what he was trying to say but Ashton seemed to be friendly enough not to laugh at his mistakes. "I am feeling... not American," he stated with a short laugh. He plucked at his clothing. "I think school tomorrow will be... difficult. We came to America only today and I wanted to explore the beach." Taki had a feeling his clothing would never truly fit in... More so if he wore his Hello Kitty top. Perhaps that was better saved for after he'd settled in at school. "I think I am at the other school," he continued. "Ghoul...? Something like that... Do you know where it is from here? I have to find it tomorrow." A pity he wasn't at the same one as Ashton as he would have a perfect guide if so.

(Ack just saw you'd wrapped so I'll tie this up!)
The two boys chatted for a while longer with Taki getting his directions. They parted ways with the Japanese outh feeling far more settled than he'd done before. Perhaps fitting in wouldn't be so hard after all... He could hope!
(wrapped and thanks!)
