[Character name: Ezmeralda Lopez] [Location: Pier] Ezzie decided to go out. She had to be home by nine. Well it was only 6pm so she still had three hours. Curfew's sucked, but she guessed they were there for a reason. Pepe her older brother had given her a job on his way to work. He was going to pick her up after he got off. It was not like he was far away. Pepe worked at the Pier. Ezzie walked around. She had on the infamous tutu she loved. She did not wear it all the time, but it was V-Day so why not wear it. She waved hi to perfect strangers. People did look at her weird but she did not care. Ezzie was just friendly. "Hola, Como estas?" She greeted a few people she did not know. No one ever really answered. Ezzie walked by an outside cafe and heard a song she loved. "Oh I love this song." It was Shikira's 'Hips Don't Lie' Ezzie stopped and started to dance around. Yeah that was her. The crazy girl dancing in the tut. "Come on dance. Its a fiesta. Have some fun. Celebrate...." She said to anyone who passed by. She kicked off her shoes and started to dance in circles, showing off her dancing skills. Tag Any who wants to dance

Roxy sighed as she looked at her watch. She supposed she could go home now... When she'd gotten home from school there had been a note left for her about an audition the next hour and Roxy wanted no part of it. She'd turned around and headed right out of the house before her mom had come home. With nothing really to do and knowing she had to spend the afternoon out, Roxy had gone shopping on the promenade and had an early dinner at California Pizza Kitchen which was around the corner from 3rd street. After that though she kind of wanted desert so had headed to the pier with a craving for funnel cake.
She was on her way to get some when she saw Ezmeralda from school dancing to Hips Don't Lie. Roxy smiled, being a huge Shakira fan herself, she appreciated the gesture. Laughing Roxy broke out into a run to join her friend from school. She dropped her shopping bags to her feet and started shaking her hips and singing along to the song. "I'm on tonight...my hips don't lie and I'm starting to feel its right...all the attraction, the tension...don't you see baby, this is perfection!"
Roxy laughed. "Hey Ez! What are you doin' out this way?" she asked, her arms waving in the air as she continued to dance.

Ezzie smiled when her friend joined her. Ezzie held her hands up and exclaimed, "Bienvenidos al partido. Deja tienen un poco de diversiĆ³n" It meant welcome to the party. lets have some fun. She continued to shake her booty and sing along with Roxy to the words of Hips Don't lie. They were getting lots of stares, but having fun was worth it. When the song ended ezzie wiped her forehead in mock tiredness. "Thats my exercise for the day." She laughed and hugged her friend. She gave the traditional Spanish hug and greeting which consisted of a cheek to cheek kiss. Anyone who knew her, would know that was a normal greeting.
"Mi hermano works at the pier, so I tagged along in his car. He said I was a stowaway. I claim he should never leave his doors unlocked around me." Ezzie put her shoes back on. She looked at the bags, "What did you get? Anything good?" She loves to shop. She liked places like Pac Sun and Hot Topic, but she would shop in Forever 21. As long as they had something she liked.
"My hermano gets off at 10 so I thought I would come here and hang out. Do some dancing. Celebrate V-day in my own unique way. Besides my dad was on another rampage about my grandparents and i did not care to hear it. What about you. What brings you out here?"

Roxy continued dancing along to the song with no shame. Smiling as her friend spoke Spanish to her. Roxy wasn't quite fluent or anything but she was pretty good. She could understand it at least and could speak some of it, but when she did she was sometimes a little rusty since she spoke it so rarely. "Oh right," Roxy said, nodding. "Yeah I got a couple tops and this awesome dress," Roxy said about her shopping spree. Not thinking anything of it, started pulling the items out of her bags--one from Miss Sixty, two from Armani Xchange, and one from Mango. Roxy's family had money so she could pretty much shop where she wanted, but that didn't mean she wore designer clothes all the top. She owned some high end things, but she wasn't past shopping in H&M or Forever 21 if there was something she liked. Roxy certainly was no snob. "Rampage? What is it this time?" Roxy asked. She'd finished showing off her new clothes so had thrown them back in the bags, without folding them, and picked up the bags, figuring it wasn't good to just leave them sitting in the middle of the pier. "I got home to find a note from my mom about an audition this evening," Roxy explained, "so I snuck back out and am pretending that I just never went home. I've also been ignoring her calls. I've missed it now so I'm safe to go back but had a funnel cake craving, but found you first," she said with a smile. "Want some funnel cake?" she asked, eying the stand that wasn't too far down the pier. Ezzie looked at the clothes, "Yo me gusto." She commented looking at the tops. "I love the dress. Nice color. Oh the shirt with the face. We must go shopping together sometimes. I love these." Ezzie looked at all her clothes. Roxy did have good style. They both had a uniqueness about them. Its why they were such good friends.
"Another one? If you every need an escape just call me. I am good at sneaking out. Or we can call Thad. I am sure he would love to go shopping too." Ezzie suggested. "Oh funnel cakes. Lets go. I will explain on the way."
Ezzie smiled at her friend and looked back at the people looking at them, "Adios. Hope you enjoyed the show." She laughed and dragged Roxy along for funnel cake. "Good suggestion. There is nothing better then fried batter and powdered sugar. Your mom would keel over." She smiled.
"My dad. He was just complaining about my mom talking to her parents. Apparently something happened in Miami and thats why we moved and now something about mis abuleos wanting my mom to bring us back and leave my dad. But of course my religion does not believe in divorce. It was something like that. I just decided to leave before he went from rampage to lecture." Her dad had a way of doing that.

"Thanks," Roxy said about the clothes. She knew she had good taste. Okay, maybe not everyone would wear such colorful things, but Roxy hated looking drab. Even when she did wear black or white she usually had some sort of colorful accessories to go along and make the ensemble less boring.
"I know...my mom is insane," Roxy said, shaking her head. "She's been on my case a lot lately too cause I guess I haven't gotten anything in awhile. I think I'm going to have to not purposely screw up whatever my next one is just so she gets off my case." The thing about Roxy was that she had mad talent when it came to acting. Almost every time she didn't purposely screw up an audition, she would land the part. That's why she screwed so many of them up because she didn't want the parts. The one she'd done last week she'd read a comedic scene extremely dramatic and even started crying, when the casting director tried to explain the scene to her so she'd 'get it' she pretended she didn't understand at all and continued to be dramatic.
Roxy smiled as they headed to get funnel cake...one of her favorites...especially the ones with chocolate, strawberries, and whipped creme piled on top. Yum!
"Eek...that sucks, hopefully everything will be okay though and hopefully you avoided any lectures." Although if Ezzie's parents were anything like Roxy's, she'd certainly still get the lecture when she returned home. Roxy knew she'd hear it from her mom whenever she headed back, but Roxy didn't care. She'd missed the audition and that was much more important.

"Denada." Ez said to Roxy. "Lo sciento." She said in reference to what Roxy said about her mother. "Must be hard with all the pressure. I admit. Thats one good thing about having a big family. I can get lost in the crowd. But there is always a lecture when I get home. I can be lost, but never forgotten." Ez laughed.
She walked up to the funnel cake place, "I hope you are hungry, because I can eat one myself." She laughed. Ezzie ordered a funnel cake with whip cream and sprinkles. "Yum. My mom would kill me if she saw me eating this. She is on a health food kick."
Ezzie paid and moved aside to give Roxy a chance to order. She got some napkins and picked up a water that she also ordered, "So you going to nail the next audition huh, sucks that you have to do something you don't want to. I know you are really talented." She said as she licked some whip cream.
"No doubt I have a lecture waiting for me when I get home, but this is worth it." Finds a seat for them. "I can almost quote my dad's lectures. Parents. Cant live with them or without them, am I right."

"Yeah, if only I had more siblings and could just get lost in the crowd," Roxy said, wishfully. She had always had enough friends that she didn't mind being an only child, but unlike many kids who felt neglected by their parents, Roxy felt as if her parents paid way too much attention to her. Too much in fact...she just wanted to be cut a little slack and have more freedom to do what she wanted to do. Like with acting...she loved it...she really did...but the whole pressure to be famous sucked and it wasn't what she wanted at all. She was much happier when she was simply doing a school play than when she was working on a movie set or something.
"Oh, don't worry about that," Roxy laughed. She ordered her funnel cake, not sure if she could finish the entire thing, but she was up for the challenge at least. After all, she had had a pretty big dinner. Roxy wrinkled up her nose in disgust when Ezzie mentioned her mom's health food kick. "I couldn't live without junk food," she said, but she definitely knew the feeling. Although, Roxy was naturally thin, her mom was always pushing her to eat healthy and stay in shape for auditions and whatnot.
"Yeah," Roxy sighed. She'd grabbed her cake off the counter and shoved a piece into her mouth. "I just wish I could stick to smaller time stuff...like not everyone needs to be famous...the last thing I would want is to be stalked down by paparazzi and all that. I want a normal life."
Roxy wanted to say that she could live without hers, but truth be told she wasn't so sure. After all, she was only 15. Who would take care of her if not for her parents?

Ezzie stuffed her face. She was not the most graceful when she ate. "Well if you ever want to get lost I am sure you can join my family for a night. No one will notice an extra kid around." She laughed. "Sierra might care since we share a room, but..." ezzie shrugged, "I like to bug her so why not."
Ezzie had a huge appetite. Just when you thought she could not eat another bite she did. Ezzie sipped her water and ate some more. She worked off the food plenty. Maybe not in the traditional exercises way, but she stayed thin some how. "It does suck. She is all about fruits and vegetables. Its why I come here for funnel cake. She cant stop me here. Pepe won't tell or else I will spill the beans about him." Ezzie knew all her family's secrets. She loved to spy on them.
"You should still go out for the school plays. They suck without you. Invite your mom to see one. Maybe if she sees how happy they make you she will lighten up. " Ezzie suggested, "You are really good. Hate to see you wast the talent." She hated to see her friends suffer. "Parents will be parents. Always thinking they know what makes us happy." Ezzie loved her parents but they could be oblivious at times.

"Uh...I am way to full," Roxy said shaking her head. She'd eaten about 3 quarters of her funnel cake and just couldn't do anymore. She offered it to her friend. "I had a huge dinner...I'm impressed I ate this much," she admitted with a laugh.
"I might take you up on that sometime," Roxy said, wondering what it would be like to have a lot of siblings. As much as she hated all the attention she got from her parents, mainly her mother, she wasn't sure a million siblings was the answer either. Roxy kind of liked that she didn't have to share her things with anyway. Still, it was good to know she had somewhere to hide out if she needed it, although she usually had the Cotton's place for that, it being next door and all it was easy to sneak over there without anyone noticing.
"Yeah...no...last time she saw me in a school play it just convinced her that I needed to do more. She even invited some agent guy to the one I was in in the 7th grade," Roxy said shaking her head. "She doesn't even know I'm in the drama club," she admitted. "Whatever, parents are parents," she said with a sigh. "And on that note, I should really go. I definitely missed the audition for today so there is no use hiding out any longer and if I don't get back soon, they'll probably get to worrying," Roxy said. "But I'll see ya tomorrow," she told Ezzie as she grabbed her shopping bags. She waved at her friend once more as turned to head home.
