Nikki stood in front of the mirror. She was slightly nervous for her date with Duke. Sure, she went out with tons of guys...it was really no big deal to her. But the fact of the matter was that Duke was different. Because Duke liked her. He really truly liked her, while the other guys usually dumped her the moment they got her into bed which was usually on the first date.
Should she sleep with Duke tonight? She wasn't sure. Her mother would probably be out or if she wasn't wouldn't care. She never cared when Nikki brought boys home which was probably part of the problem. She probably should sleep with him if he wanted her to. After all...he had gotten her a gift and was taking her out. He'd also gotten her those flowers last month. She probably owed it to him. This was also part of Nikki's problem because she really did think like that.
Hearing the door bell, Nikki grabbed her purse and headed downstairs. She opened the door smiled. "Hi--right on time," she said as she glancing at the clock on the wall. "So...gonna tell me what you have planned or is the whole night a surprise?"

When Duke got back to his apartment after class, he hurried to take a shower. He wanted to be fresh and clean and pretty much look good tonight. He finished showering and stepped into his bathroom and wiped down the fogged up mirror, and started to shave carefully and he manage to get all with out nicking himself. He felt lucky, he then put on some after shave, the scent wasn't too strong but enough to take care of the skin that was freshly shaved. He then went to get dress, he put on some nice pair of black pants with dress shoes. He then had a white under shirt with a button up blue shirt. He rolled his sleeves half way and kept his shirt button up half way. He then brushed back his damped hair and grabbed for his leather jacket and left, and head over to Nikki's.
As he arrive he looked at his watch, he notice he was just on time and he smiled. Duke was really nervous as he gotten out of his car, he stopped by with a little bit of extra time to pick up a small thing of lillies for Nikki. He then started to walk up to her door. He took a deep breath and exhale. He hoped that this night will be great he thought. He hopes that she will enjoy this surprise that he took forever from some of his buddies at the long beach aquariam to set this up for him. And he owes the guys free tickets to a foot ball game next week.
Duke reached out and rang the door bell, as he waited no more than a second Nikki was at the door. Duke then looks up with a smile on his face he was totally surprised by what she was wearing. It took his breath away, he then clears his throat. "You look incridably beautiful!" he could barely speek at that moment he then finally was able to gain poiser. When she asked him where he was going to take her.
Duke smirked a bit at her question, he then smiled and handed her flowers first and then offered his arm to her. "It's a surprise!" he said gently with a smile.

"Thank you," Nikki said responding both to his compliment and him giving her flowers. "Come in--let me put these in a vase and we can head out," she said. Taking the flowers she walked down the hall and opened a closet where she pulled out a glass vase. Carrying that and the flowers, she headed to the kitchen where she cut the bottom of the stems off, letting them fall into the trashcan and then filling the vase with water and placing the flowers in the vase. With the flowers now in the vase she placed them on the coffee table in the living room.
"Okay, ready," she said once she was finished. She had a rather large house and she knew that Duke wasn't exactly rich...she hoped that he wasn't intimidated. She grabbed her pink clutch purse, which coordinated with her shoes and headed towards the door. Once they were outside the house, she headed towards his car. "Ready for my surprise," she said with a grin. She was really curious to see where he would take her. "Must admit though...really hope that part of the surprise includes dinner because I haven't eaten," she said as she got into the car.

Duke unlocked his car and opened the door for her, as he let her in. He closed the door and gotten onto the driver side and got in. He then turned to Nikki. "Okay since its a surprise I can't let you peak!" he said and then he pulled out a purple silk scarf with black velvet roses embedded on it. "I bought this for you to keep!" he said with a smile. "But it has to cover your eyes till we get there!" he said softly. He then gently wrapped the silk scarf around her eyes and then started the car. "I promise there will be dinner!" he said smiling. "And entertainment!" he promised.
He then sped off onto the road heading towards Long Beach. He would look over to her quickly to make sure she was okay and hoping she wasn't freaking out or anything. He then reached down with his free hand and laid it over hers. "We're almost there!" he said as they exit off the freeway ramp. Once they got to their destination he parked his car into the parking structure. He then gotten out and got over to her side and opened the door he helped her out of the car and lead her towards the Aquariam. He held her arm under his as they reached the door he opened it for her and lead her in. "Okay I promise you'll get to see just a moment!" he said as they both walked in complete darkness.
Finally when they reached the room that had a wide glass wall where you can see the fishes and other kinds of creatures in the water. The light glowed through the glass and into the room they now stand in. There in the middle of the room was a round table covered in a white cloth and candle light, and two menus waiting. "Okay..." he took a deep breath and was nervous, he hopes that she would like this. He untied the purple silk scarf from her eyes. "Okay what do you think?" he asked with a bit of uncertainty in his voice.

Nikki hesitated when he held up the scarf. After being held at gun point and tied up (maybe not blind folding, but still tied up), Nikki wasn't exactly enthusiastic about the whole blindfold thing. She would have thought that Duke of all people would have known better. Still, Nikki being Nikki didn't protest...just let him do it anyway, sitting uncomfortable and remaining rather quiet for the duration of the ride.
She smiled once they arrived, excited to get rid of the blindfold...but no. Walking with it wasn't exactly pleasant either. Sure he was leading her...making sure she didn't fall or walk into something or anything like that, but still...it was scary and nerve racking when one couldn't see where they were going. She couldn't imagine how blind people did it...although they were probably used it it and she wasn't.
She could sense going inside somewhere and she could sense light. Thankfully! She carefully rubbed her eyes the moment the blindfold was off, being careful not to mess up her eye makeup. And then she smoothed over her hair, clearly more concerned with her appearance than the place. It was only then that she looked up and saw the fish...
"Oh..." She turned around in a complete circle taking it all in, her eyes landing on the private table. Placing her hand on her hip she gave him a look. "This...this is incredible," she said, "but how are you affording this?" she blurted. Okay, maybe it was a bad thing to say, but it was no secret that Nikki's family was very well off and Duke...well, Duke worked in a 7-11. And as much as Nikki told herself she didn't care about money or popularity or anything like that...and as much as she moaned about it all when she was alone...she'd still grown up caring and no matter what, it was how she was raised and still very much apart of her.

Duke smiled at her curiousness of how he manage to pull all this together. He then looks to Nikki and then pulls out her chair for her. He then gently pushes her chair in a bit to where she was comfortable. "This is one of my many wonderful part time jobs!" he said with a smile. "During the special events I come here to work with cleaning and helping out with the tours!" he explained and then goes over to his side of the table. As he sat down and pushed himself closer to the table.
"Also I had some friends pull some strings and wanted to help me make this night a very special one!" he finished and takes the menu. Then suddenly a tall older gentlemen walks in he was pretty much the chief of the cafeteria upstairs. "Good evening and what can I get for you on this very lovely night?" he asked as he looks to Duke and then to Nikki, he smiled. The man was tall, thin and with tan skin and a thick black mustach. he had a slight southern accent with brown eyes, with a twinkle in this. Wearing his cheif coat and black and white strip pants.
Duke smiled up at his friend. "Lee, you know what, I love your cooking and I trust you, so how about you surprise me?" he said looking up to his friend. The man smiled at Duke and then to Nikki. "And for the lovely lady what would you like my dear?" He asked giving her a warm smile.
Duke smiled and looks to Nikki, "Take your time!" he said softly. And Lee smiled wider.

"Um...oh," Nikki said. "I didn't know you worked here....how many jobs do you have?" She was confused. She didn't have one job. It made her feel sort of bad. Maybe she should have been the one taking him out and offering to pay and all that. Not for tonight...but she'd have to do it another time.
She wasn't really expecting anyone to come and serve them so she was surprised when a waiter showed up. Glancing at the menu, Nikki didn't really know what to get. "I uh...I'll just have the same thing as him," she said, pointing at Duke. Once the waiter was gone, Nikki shrugged. "Why not stick with the surprises," she said, although she still felt a little unsure. No one had ever gone so much out of their way for her before...
"So...do we get wine too?" Nikki asked, knowing they were underage, but she drank all the time so she tended not to even think of underage rules when it came to drinking.

Duke smiled to Nikki, the drinking bit was a surprise but he thought for a moment, and realized it shouldn't hurt. When Lee came back with the food he already brought back with him a small bottle of red wine. Duke again surprised by Lee already prepped on this one. Lee served the drinks and Duke sipped at his as he ate his food.
Every now and then he would start a small conversation about little things. Asking more about her, what does she likes and so on and he would give her answers of the same of what he likes and what other things about him. Soon feeling a little tipsy Duke finished his dinner and thought to take Nikki out over where the sea lions are.
Duke smiled and offered his hand. He lead her up outside of towards the sea lion exhibit. Once they entered. He took off his jacket and gently placed it around Nikki just to be sure she was warm enough. Then Duke walked over towards the little cave and put his two fingers into his mouth and whistle till out suddenly slidding onto the wet surface was a huge Sea Lion. "Hey Archie!" Duke said. The Sea lion was excited as he roared clapping its fin. "Yes I'm fine hey you still have that box I ask you to hold for me?" Duke asked making this a show. Again the sea lion clapped its fin, it then woddle back into the cave and a few minutes later it came out with a small long black box. And handed it to Duke with its mouth. Duke laughed and took the box. "Alright Archie wave bye?!" Duke asked waving his hand for a signal. Archie refuse shook his head stick out his tounge and made kissing sounds as if to blow kisses to Nikki. Duke laughed. "Alright good enough" he said and Archie goes back to the cave.
Duke walked up to Nikki and handed it to her. "I got this for you as a valentines gift" he whispered. with a smile.
