Evan had outdid himself for his and Brittany’s date, he thought, admiring his handiwork. The moment school finished, he raced home, well, had a few quick detours along the way, to set everything up for that night. Thinking it would be something his girlfriend would find both funny and sweet, (though, hopefully any word of Evan being even a tiny bit that second thing would never spread around, he had a reputation to think about after all) he threw an old tablecloth over the kitchen table, setting up their plates and cutlery on it. His mum would be so proud.
For dinner, he made a lasagne, something that he could easily throw into the oven and forget about for a while. He considered getting garlic bread, but decided against it, given what he had hoped they would spend some of their night doing. Evan also remembered to grab a bottle of imitation wine (aka apple cider) thinking that Brit would get a kick out of that, and a couple of wine glasses joined everything else on the table.
With that done, he quickly changed, into his relatively still intact Converse sneakers, a still slightly newish pair of camouflage pants and a light grey Radar Bros. T-shirt Patch had talked him into getting a couple of weeks back. For Evan, it was making an effort.
He didn’t have any time to hire some dodgy movies, so he figured they would make do with whatever he had, and possibly raid Alyson’s DVD collection if they got the chance. It didn’t take him long from his house to Brit’s, he knew the route by now, and pulled up to the curve blasting Staying Alive, the ‘best’ song that currently happened to be on the radio, knowing it would make her laugh to hear it. Shutting his baby down, he rushed up to the door in his usual manner, knocking loudly as he hummed the Bee Gees under his breath.

Brittany laughed when she heard the loud music outside, instantly knowing it was Evan. Brittany jumped down from her lofted bed and started downstairs. She hadn't had the chance to swipe anything from Alyson's room, but luckily Evan's DVD collection was so big that she knew they'd be fine.
Upon hearing Jimmy barking up a storm, Brittany knew that Evan was at the door. She grabbed him by the collar so he couldn't run out as she opened the door. She could feel her dog trying to jump on her boyfriend and had to use two hands to hold him back. "I get kisses first and then you get your turn," she told her dog, before turning to Evan and smiling. "Hey," she said. "I'm ready but come in a sec so Jimmy doesn't run out." She'd chased her dog down the street many of times so she'd definitely learned. He wasn't trying to run away from her, he just liked to be outside.
Shuffling Evan inside, Brit kicked the door closed behind him, only then letting her dog go. With her arms free she wrapped them around Evan and gave him a kiss as Jimmy stood on his hind legs in an attempt to jump up on both of them as she did so.

Moving one arm around Brittany in return, Evan took advantage, returning the kiss before giving Brittany a few more. The whole time however, it was impossible not to notice the large, rather heavy dog continuously butting into his side. “Guess you’re not the only one happy to see me.” he grinned against his girlfriend’s lips, reluctant to pull away. But pull away was what he did, turning his attentions to Jimmy, crouching down to his level and giving the dog some very enthusiastic patting. “Good to see you too boy, now, go do doggy things.” he laughed, straightening again. Jimmy was a pretty cool dog, he had to admit, so had no qualms when the dog with possibly the best pet name ever continued to hover, sniffing around his shoes.
“You look nice.” he grinned, the first moment he had a chance to get a proper look at Brittany, and took a further few steps into the house. “Your mum home? Or the step-crazy?” He liked her mum, she was pretty cool for a parent. And his own mum had already blasted him into being respectful and all that, so he couldn’t help at least saying a quick hello whenever he picked up Brit. “And,” he smirked, lowering his voice to a whisper. “Patch came up with a bit of a prank we played on her this afternoon, I’ll tell you about it in the car. It’s classic!”

Brittany laughed, patting her dog on the head, glad that Evan and Jimmy had hit it off. If Evan hadn't liked Jimmy things might be different, because the big friendly dog was quite important yo Brit. "Thanks," she said when he complimented her looks. She hadn't done much since school really. She'd just changed out of her jeans and put a skirt on. It was really the only way she knew how to dress up if she didn't have to be really fancy.
"Nah, my mom is out with Michael," she said, referring to Alyson's dad. "And step-crazy is upstairs in her room...couldn't find a date," she grinned. "But that does mean I couldn't get movies. Okay...probably could have found some covert way around it but it would have involved going into her room and talking to her...and I didn't feel like dealing with that--so we'll have to deal with you're movies. Which speaking of...let's head out before she comes down her and tries to ruin our evening by you know, looking at us."
She crouched down to her dogs level and rubbed behind his ears for a moment and patted his head. "Love you Jimmy," she said, "now go give Aly kisses!" It was a command she'd taught him mostly because she thought it was hilarious when Jimmy jumped up on Alyson. "Go ahead...go." she gave him a little push and he started bolting up the stairs. "Now that won't ruin her night, but will probably annoy her," Brit said with a grin as she stood up. "Let's head out," she added as she headed to the door.
Waiting for Evan to follow she headed outside and to the car. She was really excited about the date and couldn't wait to see what he had planned.

It was a little bit of a relief, to hear that Brittany’s mum was out. Evan was keen to get going, get his girlfriend back home and show off his efforts. It was even worth skipping out with heading up to bug Alyson, one of his favourite things to do at Brit’s house. And it would have been funny, making fun of how he and Brit had a date, while she was spending Valentine’s Day alone. He didn’t really care about it himself, but the girl acted like she was the hottest girl at Gould or something, so it was a little ironic, and pretty damn funny, that she was that one who ended up dateless.
Laughing as he watched Jimmy bolt upstairs, in a rush to slobber over Alyson, Evan turned to Brit, nodding. “Yeah, will annoy her for sure. But poor Jimmy.” he grinned, walking out behind her. Rushing in front to reach the car first, he turned, giving her a low bow. “After you young miss.” he offered, opening the car door for her. When she got in, he slammed the door shut, before sliding behind the wheel. “You’re pretty lucky, you know. It always seems to work out that you get shotgun.” Evan teased, before pulling away from the curb, heading straight home.
The car ride was nothing different to the norm, their usual playful teasing and sing-a-long. One thing was for certain, Evan knew, as he pulled up into the driveway, Stairway To Heaven had never been sung quite as ‘good.’ He could smell their dinner the moment he stepped out, and thought they probably got there just in time, any longer and their meal would be a burnt one. “After you Brit.” he grinned, opening the front door of the house and letting her walk in first, watching for her reaction when she first set eyes on his little spread.
(OOC: Figured I would rush the whole getting there thing, if that's alright. So we can get this show on the road! ;D )

"Aw, Jimmy's okay...she won't hurt him or anything. Plus, he loves to jump on people and lick their faces...its like his favorite thing to do...ever," she reasoned as they walked outside. She smiled when he ran ahead and opened the door for her. "Why thank you," she said as she sat down. "Lucky? Really? And to think I've been thinking that I was terribly unlucky that I didn't get to sit in the back and have you chauffeur me around," she teased. The car ride was pleasant as usual. They joked and teased one another, lots of witty banter was passed back and forth. Brit always had a good time hanging out with Evan. When they arrived at his house, Brittany got out of the car. She could smell the food right away and smiled. "So where'd ya get the take out from?" she giggled before letting herself be serious for a moment. "It smells Amazing!" "Thanks," she said when he told her to head in first, taking a moment to register and take it all in. "Wow...just wow," she said, turning to face him. "You...you really out did yourself this time," she said, leaning in and giving him a kiss. "Next date I get to plan though. Then you'll really be impressed," she joked. Brit knew very well there was no way she'd ever pull anything like this off. ooc: totally agree with you...if you hadn't moved it along I would have

Evan made a mental note, at Brittany’s comment, to find himself one of those chauffeurs’ hats. Shouldn’t be too hard, he figured, they had everything on Ebay. It would be classic, to see her face the next time he came to pick her up and he was wearing one of those.
But, getting back home, having his girlfriend so happy with him, not to mention, her lips on his, made thoughts of such jokes quickly fade from his mind. “Glad you like it, wasn’t really sure what to do, ain’t like I’ve done anything like this before.” he admitted a little sheepishly, though, he was pleased with his own efforts. “Oh, go ahead, impress me. Sure whatever you think of will be great.” he decided, grinning, pressing another kiss to her lips before pulling away, he had a dinner to prepare and all. He was honest though, he reckoned anything she came up with would be a blast. But, when it came down to it, Evan was easy. Almost anything could amuse him in some way, and he was more than happy to just bum around with Brit, just talking about jokes and snakes and other very important and exciting things.
“Hey, very funny!” he protested with a smirk. “I’ll have you know, that’s divine scent is no take out. It’s a meal, fit for kings, made completely with these skill hands.” Evan informed her, holding his hands out in front of himself. “Here you go, take a seat.” he offered, pulling out a chair. He poured them both a cider before grabbing their plates and disappearing into the kitchen. A few moments later he appeared again, setting down a plate of steaming lasagne in front of Brit. “Not bad, eh?”

Brittany smiled when Evan mentioned that he'd never done anything like this before. Did it mean that she was special? No one had ever done anything like this for her before either...she certainly felt special. She knew she'd have to plan something good. Maybe it wouldn't be up to these standards since Brit wasn't exactly a mastermind in the kitchen, but whatever she did, it would have to be good enough to make Evan feel the way she was feeling right now.
It just felt kind of odd. She thought she'd been in relationships before...but the last serious one had been more out of convenience. She'd rarely gone out on dates and well...no one had ever gone out of their way for her like Evan seemed to. She couldn't help but smile, maybe Evan was joking when he told her things like that she was really lucky...but she kind of was, even if she'd only joke back about it.
"Oh fit for kings, well, we'll see about that," she teased. "Shall it be served on your finest crystal as well," she mocked a little at the fanciness, but really she loved it all and she was pretty sure Evan knew that or she wouldn't have teased him. She gave him a nod when he pulled out the chair for her and she sat down. "Ah, so you didn't pull it right out from under me," she pointed out, "you really are trying to be fancy tonight," she laughed.
Brittany couldn't help but grin, even after he left to go to the kitchen. It was all to perfect. Her eyes lighting up when she saw the lasagne, she quickly let her face drop. "Not bad? Try terrible!" she exclaimed. "I mean lasagna? Really? You thought that would be romantic?" She made a face at him and stuck out her tongue at him and started to giggle. "It's pretty amazing," she admitted. "Thank you..."

“Hey, it’s more than just pretty amazing, I’ll have you know. But, I’ll let you off, you haven’t tasted my lasagne yet, just wait until you do, you won’t ever want to eat anything else!” Evan teased, sitting down at the table himself. There was a very brief moment when he was worried he had stuffed up, that she didn’t like lasagne or something (though in all honesty, he realised later, who didn’t like lasagne?) but though Brittany was a great many things, a great actress was not one of them, especially with her habit to laugh too readily. He liked that about her, and how she could easily make him laugh.
He liked her more, a lot more than any girl he dated before, probably because they were quite alike in some respects, liked some of the same things, which was probably why he went all out on the dinner, something like this he would normally avoid, even feel uncomfortable with. But not with Brittany, he always felt so relaxed with her. And the fact that she was also hot was an added bonus.
“Well, dig in. Or I’ll start pinching some off your plate. Don’t think I won’t!” Evan warned with a smirk, happily rushing down his own dinner. He almost burnt his tongue at first, but he only shoved more food into his mouth. When the plates were all clear, he grabbed hers, pressing a quick kiss to Brit’s lips as he did. The advantages of being a boyfriend. “I’ll sort all this out. Take a look at my DVDs if you want, see if there’s anything you feel like watching. Or help yourself and jump on my bed a bit, I don’t mind.” he teased.

Brittany grinned when she finally took a bite of the lasagna. "Yummmmm!" she exclaimed, over-dramatically, but she was serious none-the-less, it was indeed very good. She didn't talk much while she ate because it was so darn good! She didn't want to stop. She almost wanted to ask for more but decided that as good as the lasagna had been she was much too full to eat any more of it.
"Okay, will do," Brittany said, when he told her to jump on the bed or find DVDs. She wasn't sure which she wanted to do more, but she headed right up to his room to go check them out. He had so many that it was always hard to decide, so she usually went for the first thing she saw--today that was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You could never go wrong with anything Tim Burton in Brit's opinion. Grabbing the DVD she then headed to the bed. Okay, she was probably too full to jump, but she wanted to do it for Evan's sake.
She didn't start jumping till she heard him coming up the stairs. Smiling at him as she bounced up and down on the bed. "Picked one!" she said, holding out the DVD, she allowed herself to flop down onto the bed, her flaming red hair, bouncing up and down with her.
"Oh! And I almost forgot," she said once she was sitting, still holding out the DVD, "overheard Aly talking about some fancy party tomorrow night--wanna crash? We could invite Patch too if you want. Would totally piss the ice queen off, unless you have other plans of course...uhhh...don't think I should have been jumping before I digested," she giggled a moment later. She let the rest of her body flop down onto the bed before propping herself up on her elbows.
