Ehh, "player of the year" scares me. I wouldn't know who to vote for. Maybe if instead of superlatives for the players, we had everyone just nominate awesome titles for everyone, and just stick with superlatives for characters...I dunno.

It would be a very difficult vote to call, and no one would ever agree on who is the player of the year... we have had several major changes in personel this year both players and mods, as well as changes to how we play the game.

I'm in the same boat as Dry. I don't like the idea of "Player of the Year." Declaring one person better than everyone else will inevitably cause hard feelings. If we do awards for the players, I think we should keep them light and fun, nothing that gives any level of status.
I'm looking forward to the superlatives, though. So excited!

Yeah, and it seems kinda pointless to, we all know that everyone's gonna vote for me anyway. So I'm happy with some light & fun player awards, and everyone's unspoken respect and admiration. Haha, see, I feel it's expected to love myself now!

I agree voting for awesome titles for everyone would be waaaay more fun! And that way everyone would be included. Player of the year makes things way too sticky because we have had a lot changes and to be honest I can't remember when everyone started anymore--to me if feels like you've all been here the whole time Also I like the idea of sort of spreading them out over time. I know in the past I got overwhelmed trying to vote all at once and then I'd stop and start doing something else and then forget where I left off and probably ended up skipping some and voting twice on others b/c I couldn't remember if I voted in that category or not. I don't know if anyone else had that issue...perhaps I'm just special, that probably is the case, however if we did like maybe 6 a week or something then everyone would have less to vote for and we could even make those banners right away and that way there isn't a million to make all at once.

I agree with you on the player awards on a yearly basis... but we already do some of that to a degree with player of the week...
On that basis I'd like to propose a new award for the weekly's this as good a place as any... how about we add a thread of the week?

sure, most of the other games I've been in have thread of the (month, because most other games do monthly time changes instead of weekly) but yeah, highlighting threads is a fun idea. Everyone else up for that?

I'd be all for that and who knows it might inspire people to write with others. Les

I like it! I think Player of the Week works fine, since it's a much smaller time frame. People have good weeks and bad weeks, whereas PotYear is a much more value-infested statement. You're saying this person's entire body of work for the year is better than everyone else's, as opposed to a "good job this week!" Unless one person consistently dominated PotWeek, I think it's fine the way it is.
I do love the idea of Thread of the Week, though. Sometimes two (or more) characters resonate really well with each other, and some threads deserve recognition.
